Text Types and Irregular Word Watch–What is heart word magic and what is a heart word? Video a. How do we get a word into our sight word memory? Through decoding several times b. Predictable text Predictable text  or  patterned text  often follows a specific structure or sequence. It can be found in various contexts, such as: Rhyming poems , where the end of each line follows a consistent pattern. Repetitive songs , like nursery rhymes or chants. Formulas  in mathematics or science. Regular expressions  used for pattern matching in programming. Rote memorization , where information is learned through repetition. Decodable text Decodable text is a type of text often used in beginning reading instruction. Decodable texts are carefully sequenced to progressively incorporate words that are consistent with the letters and corres… Decodable texts, too, can be problematic as they tend to steer kids away from meaning, and at times even away from real words. Decodable texts can help connect the lesson to meaningful reading and writing. In fact, authentic reading and writing should make up at least 50 percent of the phonics lesson itself! When students read decodable text there are lots of words they can successfully sound out using their growing phonics skills. This success leads to a joy of reading! Leveled books play a crucial role in supporting young readers’ development. These books are categorized based on their complexity, allowing educators to match them to a child’s reading ability. Here are some key points about leveled books: Reading Levels: Leveled books are organized into different levels of difficulty. These levels help educators select appropriate texts for students. The levels often follow a gradient, gradually increasing in complexity.
