Steps- 1. Read the assigned text and compose a reflection on the following prompts: Chapter 2- Address two of these questions. What was the accident of history? Speculate on what would have happened if the earliest explorers to reach North America had not stayed? Describe the Powhatan civilization when the first English settlers arrived. At first, it seemed very easy for the English to take over Indian land in New England. Why? What role did the New England settlers think God played in their occupation? Do you see this chapter as a documentation of progress or change? Explain. Chapter Three: Address two questions from the following options: Compare and contrast indentured servitude with slavery. What was Bacon’s Rebellion? Why were landowners so threatened by it? Explain Jefferson’s “the ears of the wolf” metaphor.
