Abel Abel is a tall lanky looking dude, with a goofy looking smile on his face and is always cracking dumb jokes. He has dark curly hair with white spots distinguished, but it doesn’t bother him one bit that’s just the type of person he is. He doesn’t care how other people feel about him, if they thin k that he’s an ass or that he’s weird he pays little attention to it. He always wares nice collar shirts, with jeans, and sporty shoes. He kind of looks like one of those stereotypical soccer players (considering that he’s the complete opposite) Abel is no saint, I’m not going to sit here and lie to you that he’s the most wonderful person in the world because he’s not he can be a real ass at times. Like to this day he still believes that he can knock me out (Abel pleas understand that I will put you to sleep if I get my hands on you). He also likes to mess …show more content…
But one day his brother in law decided to invite him to play for a soccer club and decided to try it out. He instantly found out that he had a great love for the sport and he continued to play even though he wasn’t as good as other people. But then he had to get hip surgery and he was stuck in a wheel chair for somewhere near to 5 months. Being stuck in that wheel chair pissed him off because he couldn’t play soccer anymore, his new passion. Being stuck on it not being able to run or play he gained all the weight he had lost because of soccer, and then some. When he got out of the wheel chair he was out of shape and couldn’t enjoy it soccer as much as he used to because of his major set back. But he kept at it and didn’t give up even though he sucked, he was fat, and he was slow. He kept a level head when people told him that he sucked and that he should quit, he could have quit and no one would have judged him for it. But he kept at it, he ran extra and put 110% in everything he did, and he didn’t give
I have played soccer continuously from age 3 to 18. Four years ago, I tore my right ACL. I endured surgery and 6 months of physical therapy, then almost 2 years later to the day, I was told the same fate again. I had torn the ACL in my left knee this time. Why did this awful injury have to strike me twice? Once again, I endured the months of rehabilitation and soon returned to the field. Having to go through this twice as a teen taught me that perseverance and determination will help you achieve what you want in life. Even though I spent almost 2 years away from the field, I still made every effort to be there for my teammates. Some days I didn’t want to get out of bed because of the pain, I didn’t want to go to therapy, and I wanted to quit.
In Melville’s “Bartleby the Scrivener”, the narrator is on the hunt for a new copyist in his office. From what we can tell of our narrator, he is an unambitious, vanilla fellow but still has an air of condescension about him. He always thinks that he knows what is best for his employees, although in actuality, he knows very little. Enter Bartleby: the “incurably forlorn” and “sedate” answer to his prayers (330). Bartleby is a quiet man who gains employment at the law office of our narrator. Overall, he seemed to be a good worker who had a few kinks the narrator thought that he could iron out, but to no avail. At the end of his account, the narrator says “Ah Bartleby, Ah humanity” which suggests that he sees Bartleby as a representation of all people. This is because the narrator thinks of Bartleby and all other people as lesser than him and in need of his help.
Werner exhibits courage by going against his beliefs of Germany helping Marie-Laure and the French natives, picking his ethics over the beliefs and qualities he was taught since birth. Werner has been overhearing discussions with his sister talking about making the right decision over wrong. Werner's closest companion is subjected to go to a school where individuals of a lower class are minimized and beaten. Werner is aware of this event, however, does nothing to meddle with such conduct. “Frederick hardly ever thinks of himself. Frederick is stronger than he is in every imaginable way. Werner opens his mouth but closes it again; he drowns; he shuts his eyes, his mind. At some point, the beatings stop. Frederick is facedown in the snow” (Doerr 194). Toward the start of
In this essay, I will be discussing Cather’s views on three philosophies of life and I will attempt to draw a conclusion about the one to which she personally adheres. I have took my time and read this book and it has been a really good one. It had many romantic points of views and lots of naturalistic moments.
Arthur Bauer was hanging out with his friend Erik Fisher. He knew that he would be unpopular if he did not obey Erik. Recently, Arthur even killed a man named Luiz Cruz. He always hated to carry out these evil plans, but he felt forced to do it to protect his status. The first thing that Erik got Arthur to do was to make fun of the death of his old friend, Mike Costello. “Ha! Do you remember the picture of his face! Priceless!” Erik laughed. “Pretty soon we’ll get to see the close up!”
Have you ever changed after something you have been through? In the book, The Devil’s Arithmetic by Jane Yolen, Hannah changes when she realized what the Holocaust was about. She doesn't know why it is important to remember so she doesn’t want to. She doesn't like going to there family dinners to celebrate any of their jewish holidays. Throughout the book, Hannah's character changes how she feels toward her Jewish history.
“It’s because he no longer loves us sweetheart. Pack your stuff, we’re leaving this house and your father who doesn’t care enough anymore about this family.”
In New Jersey, there are a set of teaching standards that all teachers must follow in their classrooms. Standard 2ii5 states, the teacher understands that learners bring assets [and liabilities] for learning based on their individual experiences, abilities, talents, prior learning, as well as language, culture, family, and community values. On the other hand, standard 3ii2 says, the teacher values the role of learners in promoting each other’s learning and recognizes the importance of peer relationships in establishing a climate of learning. In this paper, I will be talking about standards 2ii5 and 3ii2 and how they relate to the novel The Pact. The Pact talks about three young doctors and their journeys in getting there. All three of the
“Everyone in society should be a role model, not only for their own self-respect, but for respect from others.” ~ Barry Bonds. In this world bad situations occur frequently and it takes a good strong person to handle them in a mature way. Dealing with them this way not only shows that the person has self-control, but also makes them a good role model for people to look up to. In the book The Chosen, Chaim Potok uses Mr. Galanter to express his opinions of a good role model. Acting as a baseball coach and gym teacher, young boys look to him for guidance and motivation every day. Having this kind of position causes stress at times, and requires him to stay calm and level headed. Throughout this book, Mr. Galanter
It did not matter if it rained or if it was sunny Carlos was out there every day at the park practicing to get better. His teammates would see how hard he would work but still they would say harsh words to him. Carlos remembers the method of his brother to ignore his teammates. He always had to motivate himself to get something he wanted or needed he would not just say positive words for himself but he would always be confident on himself. There was a time when he had a soccer game he was playing so well that a scouter saw him play when the game was over the scouter talk to him if he wanted to play with Chivas de Guadalajara. One who succumbs under the harshness of facing adversity is Eliezer Wiesel. For instance, on his way to a concentration camp, he sees the bodies of babies and children being burned in a ditch: "For the first time, I felt revolt rise up in me. Why should I bless His name? The Eternal Lord of the Universe, the All-Powerful and Terrible, was silent. What had I to thank Him for?” (31). When Elie asks, “Why should I bless His name?”, after witnessing this catastrophe, his apostasy grows stronger. As he experiences the Nazis punishments, his ultimate trust in God diminishes into conflicts with what he should truly believe in. Furthermore, when Elie finally reaches the last concentration camp and wakes up, he thinks about looking for his missing father,
On the other hand, Mr. Abel seemed to have a power-breaker personality in the fact that
Abel has never had things easy, from the very beginning Abel was exiled because his father was not part of the tribe. Abel grew up in a tribe that did not accept him because of his mother’s actions. Tragically at the age of five Abel’s mother was taken from him. He was so young that he did not comprehend it. This tragic event in his life is one that he seemingly mentally blocks.
“Behemoth!” I screamed, overjoyed, causing a few people to turn their heads, “Finally, it’s coming out! I can’t wait!” My father and I have always shown substantial interest in book series. One of which was the Bowl Of Souls series. Until recently, I would have never compared anyone in my family to a book character. One day, I was brainstorming and commenced to realize how similar my father is to Sir Hilt, a named warrior from the Bowl of Souls series. Author, Trevor H. Cooley implied that Sir Hilt was quick-witted and how willing he is to assist people. In many ways my father is similar to Sir Hilt; weather it be mental/physical strength, impact they have on others, or the admiration and loyalty to those around them.
The main goals of the protagonist's Otto and Leni. Otto is a normal German boy who was rescued and brought to England. While Leni was a girl that lived in England and helped with the war efforts by delivering people to the hospital. A man named MacPherson had recruited both Leni and Otto for a very important job. They had to get this girl from Germany and bring her back to England. They had a few weeks to train and they each had their strengths and weaknesses. Soon came the day and they had to skydive into Germany. Before their mission they had different goals. For Leni she wanted to help the war efforts as much as she could. You can tell she wants to help because “The girl was proud to be finally helping the war effort.” (4) And for Otto he wanted to have a normal life and not to be bullied by the other English boys.
