A Great Teacher - Original Writing Essay

I decided to interview a friend of mine who just started her second year of teaching. She works for a Middle School in Westchester County, teaching 6th and 7th grade math. I asked her a series of questions about her whole experience on becoming a teacher. I was relieved to hear what her first few days were like being a new teacher, because that could be nerve racking for any new teacher. She explained to me that she was shocked on her first few days, and overwhelmed with the respect she immediately received from her students. They greet her in the hallway, and thank her as they leave class. I could just imagine how good that would feel to get that reaction from your students. When I asked her why she decided to teach the grade that she is in, she explained to me that she chose to do middle school because it is a crucial time for development in an adolescents life, and also a challenging time.

This assignment will critically reflect and analyse a microteaching session I presented to my peers in a clinical placement regarding Nursing management of chest drains. I will define reflection; teaching, learning and the rationale for choosing this topic will be clearly outlined in this paper. The preparation, planning, implementation and evaluation will also be incorporated. This assignment will be structured using Gibbs (1988) reflective model cited in Modular Training Course, 2003 because of its simplicity. I decided to contact a teacher, Nancy Niedermayer at a local elementary school. I reached out to her through email. I introduced myself and explained that I was a graduate student at Liberty University. I also explained the assignment to her and asked if she would be willing to meet me for an interview and the subject matter. She promptly returned my email and agreed. The interview was then set for Friday, September 9, 2016 at 2:30pm. Our meeting place was her classroom at Lakeside Elementary.

I chose to interview the 6th-12th grade Principal at our on-line school for the administrator interview. It was wonderful to visit with her and develop a better understanding of her perspective. Our 6-12 Principal has been an administrator for 5 years. She has spent 13 years in education and has been everything from a 1st grade teacher to a MS teacher. She has also served as a Master teacher, MC Principal, and is now the 6-12 Principal which also includes a separate alternative high school. Her dad was an educator and also served as an administrator.

Yesterday, we all filed into class and took our seats. We noticed there was a video call on the screen. The video call was different from the original interview but it was easier to talk over the screen that separated us. He looked a tad uncomfortable at first but in a way, he was also very relaxed to have all of these random people he had never seen before staring at him. His name was Cullen Chaffin, he is 20, and is studying theater to become an actor. Each student from a group went up to ask him a few questions. He was amused of how awkward we all were while trying to interrogate him about his acting life.

This person is an inspiration to CBHS, a senior who always has a smile on his face, and is an extremely good guy. His name is Jake, and he has impacted this community so much. Now, how did l learn all of this, I interviewed him. The day of the interview, we met up in Mr. Bernstein's room. Jake and I left the room and walked downstairs, finding a place to start the interview. We found a bench on the first floor, light coming in from the glass windows and doors. The only sounds are light background chatting, the hum of the vending machine, and the buzz and opening of the front door. We both seemed excited, but Jake seems nervous, it's hard to tell. We sat on the bench as I set up the iPad for the interview.

In order to gain more insight for research I conducted an interview with an actual Latin Jazz musician. For my interview I spoke with Craig Fundygo, a self-taught vibraphone player and musician with a lot of jazz experience. Craig continues to play with his own band in the city of Santa Monica. The following discussion was based on a list of prepared questions- What is the name of your band, how many players are there?

I chose to interview Jen Flemming. She is a teacher, mentor, mother, wife, and a leader. I first met Jen when she adopted my little sister. My mother was having a hard time and she needed some help, she could not have hand picked a better person to fill her shoes. Jen was a leader then when she took my sister as her own, and she is also a leader in her career. She is a second grade teacher at Calvin Coolidge Elementary School. I remember when I told her that I was changing my major to Elementary Education. She was very excited and eager to help me along the way. She offered me advice, a listening ear, and helped me find a placement for me pre-practicum. I only wish I had been able to be in her classroom for it! Jen is someone who is always positive, always there to listen, and the first to offer support. I knew that there would be so much I could learn from her.

As the seniors entered the room, I glanced over to see if my senior was present, and I was disappointed. Two groups formed, freshman and senior, and the room filled with laughter and nervousness, the latter mostly from the freshman. Then, Morales told everyone to pair up with their senior. I asked him what I should do, and he told me to interview the other senior that Ella was paired up with. Rebecca was surprised, but she turned her chair towards me and smiled all the same. We introduced ourselves with a small nod, and sat on the other side of the table she was previously seated at. The atmosphere around us was cluttered with the soft mutter of focused conversation. As in every profession, roles, responsibilities and boundaries are set in order to define the line indicating the acceptable limits.

The future of the world is in the hands of the children. Whether the future be a positive or negative one depends on the children and the education they receive. The education of a child is so valuable that one needs to consider the importance of the child's education. Also, one needs to consider how to go about nurturing those bright minds so one day they can become independent individuals. As Educators, one needs to be aware of the short-term effects as well as the long-term effects in which education may play on the child's views of the world.

In my opinion, a good teacher should be one who puts her heart into teaching. This is because only by doing so will the students feel their passion and hard work. When a teacher strives hard for the students, students will put in their effort as well. If a teacher dislikes her job, goes to classes in a bad mood, her teaching would also be affected and students would not be able to enjoy lessons as well.

I believe education is one of the most important tools a person can have in life. Every child deserves to receive the best education possible.  It has always been my passion to help each child discover their individual God given gifts and talents and to reach their full potential.

Teaching is a profession that is considered to be a rewarding challenging and complex role.  An effective teacher does not simply teach knowledge their students and instead aims to arm students with the knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes that will prepare students for life-long learning. The constructivist theories developed by Piaget and Vygotsky have impacted on the way that teachers teach and this has changed the approach of teaching to place a greater importance on the teacher instead to act as a facilitator of learning in an open, constructivist environment and providing students with the tools to challenge themselves to develop both academically and personally.  The education of students within classrooms of today is

For some reason or another certain students are drawn to particular teachers while other students are more fond of others. In my life I have studied under three memorable teachers. Teachers with which I was able to connect, to laugh, to share my misgivings. While I may have been close with each of these teachers, it is very clear, in retrospect, that each was very unique, and represented an entirely different class of teacher.
