‘NCIS’ viewers on Tuesday night didn’t need to be left out in the cold to discover how one could be frozen to death for an afterlife. The popular CBS show had fans watching closely as two crimes revealed one sick individual.
Originally looking like a computer crime, Agent McGee is summoned to help a vice admiral. His laptop is infected with ransomware and is the demand isn’t paid for the key to stop the clock, everything on the laptop will be wiped. The admiral refuses as the idea is against every rule he knows about dealing with enemies - both real and on the battlefield. While Agent McGee seems to reason with the admiral, the case takes a contagious turn as McGee’s technology along with everyone else’s in the squadroom is infected too.

Using satellite radio, the team does retrace his last footsteps only to find him frozen in the trunk of a car, in a lake. How is this possible? Cryogenic freezing.
The suspected killer is somehow able to obtain large amounts of liquid nitrogen to use for his cryogenic freezing. Cleverly, the two situations were connected. The killer was looking for a way to pay for his research on freezing people to be thawed and live again after science was enhanced, so he turned to ransomware. Smart with computers and friends with the computer expert who turned up dead (and frozen) the killer ends up trying to fund his little project by extorting people to pay to have their data returned to normal using ransomware. This isn’t your typical crime, but it definitely had an interesting twist.
There was one agent who didn’t play a big part helping the team and that was NCIS Special Agent Alexandra “Alex” Quinn. Focusing on her mother, Marie Quinn, viewers watched as the agent needed to address her mother’s forgetfulness. The personal look into Quinn’s life showcased how this agent dealt with a difficult situation. No doubt this situation will continue in future
The phases of life and social context is predicated through the sum of personal feats and experiences as crises and adversity are the greatest motivator which propel individuals to become better than they were before. J.C. Burke’s ‘The Story of Tom Brennan’ is an example of the transitional process through entering a new, unknown area which acts as a catalyst for beneficial change. Hindered by emotional and physical turmoil, the protagonist Tom Brennan alleviates his devastated life in the new town of Coghill forming relationships along the way and achieving new goals. Lisa Forrest’s article ‘Testing new waters after leaving the swimming pool’ (TNWALTS) is another type towards transitional change that explores the personal crisis and career
The pain and grief of traumatic road accidents can complicate and severely damage many relationships, especially those in small, close knit communities. The line becomes blurred between perpetrators and victims, as beliefs become doubted, and sympathy arises for those who sadly lost their lives, and those who “move on from a moment that threatens to define them forever” (‘Shattered’, 2011). Viewers respond to compassion and remorse shown in the stories, typical views of perpetrators and victims become challenged, demonstrating the enormous influence of a person’s attitude on other’s perspective and opinion of them. The Story of Tom Brennan is an award winning Australian novel written by Jane Burke, published by Random House during 2005.
As technology is used worldwide, it is in no way hard to get your hands on, or learn how to use computers etc. One of the most significant problems with cybercrime is it’s secretive nature; many protection devices which can be cracked will not pick up that they have been, therefore the majority of cybercrime will go unnoticed for a substantial amount of time. Combined with the world wide web, hackers can use the computers to gain information from any organisation around the world, penetrating even the most impenetrable organisations to get what they want, highlighting how technology has led to the process of globalization within the criminal world.
Conrad applies an apparently crystal clear literary narrative technique in the tradition of conventional realism, a narrative method that appears deceptively simple. The Secret Agent holds great deal of the social concerns. It is considered supreme masterpieces, it is a brilliantly depicting an ironic narrative of London's seedy and dispossessed underworld of revolutionist and anarchists.
were about to give up looking for him, they find him standing naked in a cold
Throughout this case, it was later revealed that agent Connolly and his partner appeared to have had certain level of freedom while handling Bulger’s case. The head of the FBI failed to limit agent Connolly’s authority in regard to the case as the Bureau were in need of Bulger’s help for information. For the ones who had been keeping an eye on the FBI-Winter Hill Gang activities throughout the years, it was hard to believe that the level of corruption between the FBI and the Winter Hill Gang could have lasted for so many years without the higher-ups in the FBI and the Department of Justice knowing and even perhaps approving of said relationship. As
This case has a lot the information that we as students had learned in the class. First, learning from chapter one in the book the types of violent crimes and learning that Adam Walsh’s crime is in the category of murdered children. According to the schoolbook, in 1996 almost 2000 children were murdered. Secondly learning the chapter of child abduction and exploitation where almost 58,200 children were victims of child abduction by a non-family member, according to the NISMART-2 (Sedlak, Finklehor, Hammer, & Schultz, 2002, p. 5). Watching the film has given me the opportunity to be able to use the knowledge learned from the class and the book based on how each victim in Adam Walsh’s movie has a role in being a victim of crime. Victimology
Polyneice, king of Thebes, has passes away at age 91. "Polyneice's death is considered a homicide" said Special Agent Booth. Booth also added " the former king was shot in the abdomen and on the back of his head". Special Agent Booth has no knowledge of which shot killed the king, however the anthropologist will speak to the media about which shot, miraculously, murdered the former king, polyneice.
The pictures in A Sick Day for Amos McGee are a comfortable and warming read to all audiences. The grey of the pencil provides definition and depth, while the soft colors pressed from the woodblocks provide warmth and texture. Truly, the artworks convey effortlessly just as much to the book as the words themselves. The detailed, exquisite pencil drawings and woodblock printings by the Phillip C. Stead’s wife can only be modest as there are only a few words to describe how truly lovely they
A cynical forensic computer programmer reluntantly gets entangled in a mission to stop a terrorist group from attacking the finacial system.
The use of information technology in business presents major security challenges, poses serious ethical question, and affects society in significant ways. Especially, the computer crime is a growing threat to society and is caused by the criminal or irresponsible actions of individuals who are taking advantage of the widespread use and vulnerability of computers and the Internet and other networks. It presents a major challenge to the integrity, safety, and survival of most business systems.
As a computer science major, it is only natural that I would have an affinity to science fiction films. However, Alex Garland’s Ex Machina is not just any science fiction film, it is a view into the human psyche and society’s subconscious fear of being replaced by something we perceive to be greater than ourselves. Ex Machina is a morally ambiguous story that is Promethean in nature, because “fire” or intelligence has been given to machines. Many of the characters in Ex Machina exhibit Jungian archetypes such as Ava being the dreamer, Caleb Smith as a positive animus, Nathan Bateman as a negative animus, and Kyoko as a positive shadow. However, some may have different perspectives on who would
Forensic Files is an American documentary styles series talks about how forensic science is used to solve violent crime, mysterious accident, and even outbreaks of illness. I am a real fun of this program, been watching it for almost one year now and still watch it till this date. One of the important parts I like about this show is the producer. I find it more interesting of how they are able to condense every story and cover up all the details in just thirty minutes. In this program, violent is used as the main plot. In this show, Crimes that have taken place are often violent crime, or people are being poisoned by thallium; arsenic or anti-freeze. This show is based on a true story that has taken place all over United States and some part of Canada.
Just like a biological virus, a computer virus is able to infect and ruin lives. This malicious software constitutes more than just simple viruses but also includes other types of software including worms, Trojan horses, and ransomware. Malware has been around since the late 1980’s. Originally, people became hackers to gain notoriety online, but today, it has become more of a business. Cyber attacks originate from all around the world, and it is not just individual people that benefit from it. In two decades, numerous cyber crime syndicates have been created, and states all over the world sponsor hacker groups. Over the past twenty-five years, malware has become less about checking the integrity of computer security and gaining notoriety in the underground cyber society, and it has become more of a chaos creating, money making business that many people and institutions take part in.
As the world becomes more and more reliant on computers the computer hacking industry is greatly rising. With people such as Kevin Mitnick, who is known as a "computer terrorist" (Kjochaiche 1), computerized information isn't safe any more. Kevin is known as "the most high-profiled computer criminal and responsible for more havoc in the computer world today."(1) He considered this a fun and easy task. He got caught and thrown into prison, but once he got out nothing changed. Kevin stated that as long as the technology is there it just calls to people to break into it. Computer hackers usually start off young, thinking that it is nothing but a little harmless fun. But as they get older, they realize it has turned into
