From the results, it can be argued out that transportation predates globalization, in that both transportation and globalization are mutually interdependent. In other words, where there is a trade, transportation must be there to support it. To match the increasing globalization, transportation has changed its volume, speed, capacity, and efficiency over the years.
Transport, therefore, plays a major role in supporting international economies and creating major links and networks of exchange of goods via supplying goods through various modes of transports like airlines or marine transportation, which reduces geographical distances between the manufacturer and the consumer.
On the other hand, globalization plays a key function in transportation, which shows in different areas of logistics processes. For example, with globalization transportation of goods from one place to the other has become easier besides cost reduction. Taking marine shipping as an example, though the United States produces a large amount of petroleum the demand is too high in that they require importing some additional petroleum to meet its demand. In 2016, US imported roughly 10.1 barrels of petroleum per day from various countries. These kinds of global trades are successful because of marine transportation.
