Firstly, none of Taxi drivers don’t care about safety, insurance and rules. Anti-uber protest was created because, taxis couldn't compete with UberX drivers, which means less salary. Taxi drivers are desperate about their jobs, but it doesn't give them permission for violence during the protest. UberX is cheaper, convenient and they’re simply in trend. However, law must be followed by everyone, thus UberX drivers have to get licence, insurance and be safe enough to provide the service.
The reason behind company taking this action is nothing but they want their passengers to experience safe and comfortable ride and they don’t want them to face any risky situations when they are on drive. This shows that the main thing is about having safe drive and you need to be careful about all these stuff. There are some news spreading that the new rules adopted by the Uber was because of an incident which took place in Charleston, South Carolina where there was an open fire done by 21year old white man in the black Church, this one small single tragedy ended the lives of nine people, but words from Uber is that the act passed by them was not based directly on that shooting, Since the new rules came into existence on June 10th almost a week before that incident took place.
On one hand, in the last couple of years, there are some criminal activities endanger passengers by Uber’s drivers (Picchi, 2014). Because of these horrible things happened not only let Uber company lost a lot customs but also bring shame on Uber company (Picchi, 2014). Even though Uber claims they are going to do more background checks for drivers, the background checks cannot include all the aspects for the drivers (Picchi, 2014). About driverless cars there also some problem regard to safety problem for example: villainous weather, puddles on the street (Boudette,
“For many years now Negroes in Montgomery and so many other areas have been inflicted with the paralysis of crippling fears on buses in our community. On so many occasions, Negroes have been intimidated and humiliated and impressed-oppressed-because of the sheer fact that they were Negroes.”
On August 28. 1983, a group of over 200,000 people supported and attended the March on Washington. (www.history.com). This statistic demonstrates the fact of how impactful the March on Washington was and how many people were on the same side. The speeches at this assembly are some of the most famous and well known speeches that are still remembered today. There are many events from the Civil Rights Movement that changed our daily lives, including speeches and court cases, and there are key people who were involved in them . Some of the major events included the Brown v. Board of Education (1954), he Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955-1957, the Greensboro Sit-ins (1961), March on Washington (1963), the 24th Amendment being passed (1964), and the
Among the copious amounts of race riots arising in many parts of the United States, the Chicago race riot is the most recognizable. On July 27, 1919, a black boy named Eugene Williams was stoned by whites and drowned in the 29th street beach after accidentally swimming into white claimed territory. While this angered African Americans, the refusal by police to arrest the offenders of the attack infuriated them even more. The incident caused a full blown race riot, leaving 23 blacks and 15 whites dead, 537 people injured, and 1,000 black families homeless over a 13 period. In Washington D.C., four whites were killed along with two blacks, however, in Phillips County, Arkansas, 25 African Americans and 5 whites were declared officially dead,
The Freedom Rides were formed on May, 1961, launched by the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE), a U.S. civil rights group. A group of African-Americans and white civil rights activists departed in two buses from Washington, D.C. to the South to protest segregation in interstate bus terminals. The Supreme Court rules in December of 1960, that segregation in interstate travel is illegal but still state laws in the southern states and local ordinances ordered segregation of the races on buses.
The focus of this investigation is to evaluate ¨In what ways did the legal system respond to the freedom riders in the southern state?¨ and will analyze what was done to both help and harm the freedom riders journey as they protested throughout the south for racial equality. Racial equality was fought for by many other groups and people but the freedom riders will be the main focus for this investigation. The sources The Enduring Courage of The Freedom Riders and Freedom Rides have been used throughout. They are best suited because they show how the law enforcement responded to the riders and what they faced during their protests.
Uber as a business have conducted and implemented many harmful tactics and policies. The primary issue that Uber has been deemed harmful are Uber taking and requiring all drivers to accept the percentage cuts. In addition, the higher percentage cuts will be deduct from each earned revenue the driver obtain while driver for Uber. This is a very harmful tactics
The fight for freedom was not an easy one for blacks. Years of racial bigotry programmed in society’s mind was the biggest hurdle for blacks in the US. You can change legislation but not the minds and behaviors of people. This made it imperative that black initiate different strategies to achieve the goal of being treated like a human being and having the same inalienable rights given to everyone else. They demonstrated peacefully and they demonstrated in ways that became violent. In the end, they got the attention they needed to begin change. Their fight not only gave rights to blacks but to all people.
and everyone if people were treated differently based on their race or ethnicity, but also many
During the first half of the twentieth century segregation was the way of life in the south. It was an excepted, and even though it was morally wrong, it still went on as if there was nothing wrong at all. African-Americans were treated as if they were a somehow sub-human, they were treated because of the color of their skin that somehow, someway they were different.
The freedom riders have had a lasting impact on everyone’s lives even if people don’t know it. I believe this because they were fighting for the equal treatment of all people. Learning about the freedom riders was an interesting experience. When I see any documentaries about the past I feel thankful for those who stood up for the rights of those being discriminated against. I think that their legacy is being known for peacefully making the government in the worst part of Alabama see what they were doing was wrong. One of the most horrible things was there was people being beaten and just ready to die they already had their wills prepared and that the president didn’t step in until it got so bad that they were feeling
The reason the bus boycott was so successful was because of the large population of African Americans that did not ride the buses in the late 50’s. They all stuck together and walked to work and the city finally saw how much they really needed the black community to ride the bus.
Toronto should ban Uber because they are working as the illegal service.First of all,Uber has been operating in Toronto since 2012 without proper license.Uber's employers and their vehicles are unlicensed to provide taxi services. They increased risk to passenger safety because their vehicle do not have enough insurance that brake down the requirements of the Municipal Ontario Code.In this case insurance may not provide essential coverage to passengers and others in event of the accident.Unlike Taxi services,Uber's do not pay taxes so in effect they are cheaper than Taxi.Secondly,Uber drivers can be dangerous for people that use them. For example, one Toronto Uber driver was arrested for allegal sexual assault of passenger in 2014.In the other
We live in a technology driven world, almost everyone own a smartphone today. Uber and its competitors are allowing us to use an app on our smartphone to call for a cab. When a rider request a ride, the app gives you an estimated time of when the driver will arrive. It also calculates the fare and take the money out of your account. Whoever came up with the Uber idea is genius. Uber is beneficial to both the riders and the drivers. Uber created jobs for a lot of individuals, also for people who has a job but want to make extra money can drive Uber. The riders get high quality service for a fair price. In addition, the Uber app is easy to use and to understand. Increasing the amount of cars on the road results in faster pickup time which is
