What is known is that employees often impart the organizational culture to their colleagues whereupon the culture effects how employees relate to one another and their work environment. What can be said is that the development of an organization’s culture is dependent on elements such as structure, change and policies (Urrabazo, 2006). Effective communication platforms and current technology allows employees to deliver their core duties and assist the organization to achieve their stated goals and objectives (Anaeto, 2010). When examining the social factors of our organization, it is noted that a tight cohesion exists within a number of clinical team members where these members often engage in after work activities. That being said, clinicians tend to exhibit “silo” behaviour that presents itself as a feeling of superiority compared to their colleagues as well as fractionating the larger clinical team. This clearly does not reflect the concept of the “collaborative care team” and represents an issue that senior management is attempting to correct. Relationships between head office administrators and clinical staff that are community based were once disconnected and strained as the clinical staff felt that administrators did not fully comprehend their job responsibilities. In light of this, multiple strategies such as clinical focus groups and targeted clinical meetings with “clinical champions” in their respective disciplines were held.
