Background. Hillary Clinton was appointed as secretary of state by The President Barack Obama and served from 2009 through 2013. Her email difficulties began during initial tenure as secretary of state (Eugene, 2016). She contended on using her personal BlackBerry phone for all her email communications, but she was not permitted to take the phone into Mahogany Row office which is a secure space (Eugene, 2016). This was very frustrating for Clinton, as secretary of state; she needed to manage a flood of email to have constant updated communication with colleagues, friends and enthusiasts (Eugene, 2016). She was not willing to leave her phone into a lockbox before entering her own office (Eugene, 2016). Her advisors and senior officials tried to find a way to facilitate her to use the personal device in the secure area, but their efforts worried the diplomatic security bureau, which was afraid that foreign intelligence services could hack her personal phone and make it a bug (Eugene, 2016). In the month of Feb 2009 Department security, intelligence and technology specialists and NSA officials gathered in Mahogany Row conference room and described the risks to Clinton’s chief of staff Ms. Cheryl Mills, while also seeking “mitigation options” that would satisfy Clinton’s wishes (Eugene, 2016). Donald Reid, senior coordinator for security infrastructure described Hillary’s advisors as “dedicated blackberry addicts” (Eugene, 2016). Hillary used her unprotected blackberry device
President Barack Obama did many things to get to the positions he is at now.” Obama himself struggled with his mixed-race identity and sought to figure out how he fit in with the rest of the world”(Source B). He also had many problems growing up and many complications to get through school since he didn’t have much money. But Obama showed great appreciation for the things he had. He went out in his community becoming a great leader. Not only did he go out in his community and be a leader, But he showed great leadership, as a senate and as a president.Barack Obama was more than just an ordinary President, but he showed great leadership, hard work and cared for others than himself.
Both of these presidents, former and current, have opinions on what America should be moving towards, to better the country. These presidents have both done their fair share for this country already, though Trump has only been in office for a year, while Obama has been in office for a full term, then was re elected for another. They both, though, like all things, have many similarities and differences, these things are likely affected by their party, and mindset, along with their personality. For instance, Obama is apart of the Democratic party, while Trump is apart of the Republican party, making their outlook on America and things like taxes and abortion, different. Differences
Late Feb.: In discussions, the State Department informs the House Benghazi Committee that Clinton did not have a government email address, and that it had never had possession of her emails until her attorney first turned them over—in paper form—to the State Department in Dec. 2014.
President Barack Obama and President George W Bush are two extremely different politicians with different political backgrounds and beliefs in different political ideologies. Between both two term administrations some of their most scrutinized issues focused on the topic of foreign policy. President Obama and Bush had to deal with continuous threats and problems arising from the tumultuous political climate of the Middle East. The way each president saw it fit to eliminate the problems was quite different as, President Bush often saw it more appropriate to use military force in the intervention of these issues, where as President Obama is more likely to take a diplomatic approach before resorting to military intervention. Regardless of these differences both presidents are ultimately trying to achieve the same goal which is to achieve peace for the United States and continue the American prosperity.
Between 2009 and 2013 she sent 62,320 emails. Over half of these emails contained information that was work-related. This equates to 21.5 work-related emails per day (Keneally). Although most of these emails contain little information of importance, 65 are being withheld by the government because they include classified information (Atlantic). While this may seem like a trivial fact, it is quite the opposite. In fact, Hillary’s actions could potentially break four federal laws. The first is the Federal Records Act, which requires agencies to keep their official communications, including work-related emails. Knowingly deleting emails, the same way Hillary did, can result in a fine or one year in prison. The second law is the Freedom of Information Act, which ensures public access to agency records and information. This information is supposed to be presented in a timely manner. However, Mrs. Clinton only presented 55,000 pages of her emails that she declared “relevant”. Of course, if she had something to hide in those emails, she would not have made those public. How then do we trust that she was honest in the bring forth of these documents? The third law are the regulations regarding the National Archives. These regulations require information to be readily found when they are needed (NPR). When Hillary was first questioned about her private server, she declared that there were no classified emails
In November 2008, Democratic Presidential Candidate Barak Obama became the first African-American President to the United States. He had coined the word “change” to his first campaign, insuring Americans that if he were elected there would be “change”. Through two-terms the Obama Administration has demonstrated the most controversial change of all, the passage of the Affordable Care Act, a health reform law enacted in March of 2010. With many flaws evident in the roll out of the Affordable Care Act, we can now question should the President and Congress repeal it and start over from scratch, as many GOP members and critics have suggested; or should all parties attempt to fix the evident flaws through bi-partisan negotiation and action
President Barack Obama will be seen as one of “the great presidents” by Historians. President Obama’s presidency will be seen as Historic because he was the first African American President. He served four years and was reelected for a second term with a high number of votes. He will be seen as great for his important accomplishment with the economy, healthcare, national and international leadership and more.
There are many similarities between both the 2008 and 2016 elections that took place. In both of these situations, whether it was President Barack Obama defeating Senator John McCain in 2008, or President Donald Trump winning over Hillary Clinton in 2016, there are similarities between both of these races. Whether these similarities are being unconventional politicians, or appealing to the people, these are what caused both Presidents to defeat their more traditional political opponents.
The uproar of who should be the next President of the United States came in full swing April 2014. While the Republican Party jumped to an early start by making trips to the early voting states of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina, the Democratic Party lingered on the sidelines. The Republican Party started with seventeen candidates, yet the Democratic Party had only three. However, after the Iowa Caucus, one of the Democratic candidates dropped, leaving only two candidates remaining. Those two candidates are Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. As the race progressed sixteen of the Republican Party candidates dropped, leaving only Donald Trump. With estimated polls, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump would be the two candidates in the 2016 presidential election. Clinton has over thirty-five years of political experience, yet Trump has only business experience, so the decision of who should run the country should be chosen carefully. Although the Republican Party believes Donald Trump should be the next President of the United States, the Democratic Party nominated Hillary Clinton as the best candidate because she has the most accurate solutions for solving some of the main issues in the United States, such as gun control, immigration, and education.
In 2016, the United States is observing the start of the presidential campaigns of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump. In my lifetime, I have not observed a more polarizing election for our country. The populace of this nation may be more divided than any in the history of United States politics. Depending on where you stand in your political values, the choice of who will run this country for the next four years could be devastating. On November 8, 2016, the people will make a decision that, for better or worse, will not only decide the national leadership but will affect our foreign policy as well.
Martin Luther King Jr. and President Barack Obama have both written and performed their fair share of speeches throughout their respective lives. The two speeches that are being compared are President Obama’s “A More Perfect Union” speech and Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from Birmingham City Jail” letter. President Obama spoke this speech while his was campaigning for the presidency in February of 2007, while his was running against Senator Hillary Clinton. During the speech, he addresses the topic about his pastor Reverend Jeremiah Wright of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, and he also addresses the broader issue of race in the United States. He does this by using the words
Clinton told the press that, "she preferred not to carry two phones,"(Bradner). She decided to create a personal email and send top secret Federal information out of pure laziness; and this is the woman running to be America's next president. "Voters say they distrust Clinton,"(Bradner). As a result
In March 2015, another scandal emerged, involving accusations that Clinton had used a private email server as Secretary of State to conduct official business.
Hillary Clinton became secretary of state in 2009, there was no way she should not have known about this policy. She violated this policy, since she sends and receives all her mail through her private server. In October 2009 the Federal Records Act were tighten concerning the use of personal email accounts for official business. It stated that agencies that allow employees to use personal email accounts “ensure that federal records sent or received on such systems are preserved in the appropriate agency record-keeping system”.
We use email constantly throughout our everyday life. We use it to communicate with each other, receive notification, and exchange documents. In the end, your email can say a lot about who you are and how privacy is not always there. Recently, thousands of pages of Hillary Clinton’s emails as Secretary of State were released by the State Department. Hillary Clinton’s use of a personal email account being used on a private server has caused quite a lot of controversy. But will this email scandal doom Hillary Clinton’s presidency? The answer is ultimately no. Hillary Clinton’s presidential candidacy will not be completely ruined by her recent email scandal. First of all, her actions are not proven to be illegal. Second, the election should be
