This film documents Dr. Barbara Myerhoff’s work in studying elderly Jewish people in Venice, California. This was a different kind of study for her, because she was studying people that were of her ethnicity and religion. She is doing this work because she will one day be old and, she wants to know the daily lives of these people. She gets to know the elders by being a part of their community and going to their senior center. She interviews the elders and asks them to be specific about their daily tasks, living conditions, struggles, and their past. Her main focus is on the senior club. Because it is the center of these citizen’s lives. Here they feel like they have a purpose and can express themselves. She also studies how they celebrate the Sabbath every week. A tradition at the club is celebrating New Years at 2:00 p.m. so the elders can enjoy a performance and hear a speech about celebrating life and get motivated for the upcoming year. This study taught her to celebrate life and embrace the process of aging.

I agree with the perspective of the author in numerous places, and think there is a lot of truth in what the friend said, but that it is possible that there was somewhat of a cultural effect on the situation as well. I am pleasantly surprised that the author stood up to the mother in public.
Imagine a world where nobody was brave or even courageous. Would you be that person who has a lot of courage? The African American women, Althea Gibson and Barbara Jordan, were the first in many things. They both made the impossible become possible.
“It is my pleasure to present Sara Brown who has been installed as Honored Queen for the ensuing term.” As I hear this through the clapping and cheering I thought to myself “What have I gotten myself into?” Well now let me explain, I am in a Masonic youth organization called Job’s Daughters. It is a girls organization for young women between the ages of 10 and 20. Through this organization we teach others leadership, confidence, community service, and love for our parents and guardians.
In the essay “Barbara Gordon and Moral Perfectionism,” James B. South makes a point that to reach moral perfection that person needs an “exemplar” (South 90) or mentor to model themselves after but ultimately they need to find their own version of moral perfection. This is a path that many people try to follow but there is always another level to achieve a higher understanding of morality. South goes into how Barbara becomes Batgirl when she saves Bruce Wayne from a villain that crashed a costume party that she was attending. At this party she dressed at a bat to annoy her father, who she feels is holding her back from a more fulfilling life and also because she looked up to the figure of Batman (94). The author makes it known that the face

She is also welcome to come and have lunch any day with her friends or visit when the ice cream truck is present.
Amy Bushong E314J Spring 2017 Nineteenth Century Domesticity for the Modern Woman The early to mid-nineteenth century harbored strict ideals concerning femininity and a woman’s role in civic action, an era duly marked by constraining societal norms and revolutionary activism. Domesticity dominated the women’s sphere, authorized by society and promoted by piety. Antebellum feminists utilized religion to legitimatize their causes by transforming piety from an oppressive tool used to gauge a woman’s True Womanhood into the basis for equality between the sexes. A century later, second-wave feminists of the nineteen sixties and seventies abandoned the usage of religion as a debate platform and opted for more radical tactics such as protests and
Leaning back towards Boxer’s point, I don't believe she gave much thought into the different roles of the mothers and fathers. I would still say her clarity for the most part throughout the article was consistent and pretty well written once again I just don't think she went into thought about what I just mentioned. I don't believe she meant to do this maybe she just thinks it is unfair of producers to make movies all about the fathers considering she is a mother herself, but when you take a deep look at it would Disney or Pixar make much sense if the mother was always alive and the father was dead? Who would they go to for protection when they do crazy things to get themselves into a world of hurt? Not their mothers, because in reality most
