Career Interview Introduction
My name is Sanica Huang. I am a student at Midwestern State University who is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting. My expected graduation date is May 2019 or May 2020 depending on the schedule of classes. I did a career interview with someone who works in the accounting field at a bank. The person I interviewed is Stephanie Owens, who is working at the First National Bank in Wichita Falls, Texas, as a certified public accountant (CPA). She is also the senior vice president of the bank. I interviewed this person for three reasons. One reason is

When I took the CPA exam years ago it was a paper exam, not the electronic or computerized one accounting students have to take now. I believe the electronic tests are harder because the computer would find out which topic is your weak spot and keep asking questions on that topic, while back then it was just paper. What is on the paper test is it. There was no changing of questions or leaning of questions on one topic. I took a review session for the CPA exam in Lawton and took my CPA exam in Fort Worth because they did not have the CPA test here in Wichita Falls. The test that time had four parts like today, but instead of taking months to finish the CPA exam like now, at that time the CPA test only took two days with two parts on each day. At that time, you needed to pass both parts of the day to move on and pass the CPA exam. If you only passed one part and failed the other, you did not get to keep the part of the test you passed and it is like you did not take the test. You would need to take the entire test again. Now, I believe you can take each of the four parts again if you did not pass it. I do not remember the name of the four parts in my test, but I remember there was auditing, tax, and business law." I can leave anytime if needed to do something or leave for an appointment. I can leave provided that I finished what needed to do for the day. Also, if I needed to, I can come back here on Saturday. Also, unlike other coworkers, I do not mind doing the quarterly regulatory reporting. This job is routine and I love routine work. I love this job and do not find much difficulty in this job, but occasionally there are time stresses, like needed to get things done on time and before deadline. But other than that, this job is not really difficult." (S. Owens, personal communication, March, 15, 2017).
7. What is a typical day like as a CPA? "I check reports for anything suspicious, see what stuff is posted on the ledgers, and write journal entries for transactions, approve invoices, do bond portfolios and reconciliations. I also work in the accounts payable section. I draw cash for bank if the bank needs cash. Sometimes, there are financial statements like income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements to be made that together could be at least 70 pages long." (S. Owens, personal communication, March, 15, 2017).
8. If you had any advice for a college student looking to get into this field, what would it

The career I chose to undertake as my profession is that of a mechanical engineer. Why do I want to become a mechanical engineer? Well, for starters, I would be able to design, build and possibly repair many various machines and other technologies that are complex. These technologies can range from being already in use on a global scale to new, futuristic designs that are highly technical. Also, this career includes being a sort of jack-of-all-trades, where I would possess knowledge in mathematics, physics, etc. Finally, this career offers me the chance to expand outside my immediate area since mechanical engineers are well desired around the globe as well.
“I feel sorry for the person who can't get genuinely excited about his work. Not only will he never be satisfied, but he will never achieve anything worthwhile” (Walter Chrysler). Deciding on what one wants to be in life can prove to be a demanding task. There are so many, yet limited, different opportunities in the world to have an excellent career and make a decent living while doing something one loves. It is limited because there are only a few specific career paths that someone could take to make good money. It is very difficult to make a fulfilling living being a garbage man. There are many different opportunities because, within these specific careers, there are usually various paths to take. Someone who has dreams to be a
In order for me to complete this career assessment paper, I initially took an Interest Inventory survey. Upon completing this process, it revealed that my personality profile score was (I, C, A). These three letters represented my strengths and interests in determining which career field would best suit me.
The purpose of the Uniform CPA Examination is to provide reasonable assurance to Boards of Accountancy that those who pass the CPA Examination possess a competence level of skills and knowledge necessary for licensure in protection of public interest. As I was growing up I never thought about going to college, I came to the United States unaware of what an S.O.L, the SAT, honors, AP and DE classes were. I didn’t know anything about this. There was only one college I knew and that was James Madison University because it was everywhere in the city. When I was a freshman, history was my favorite subject it was just so fun to learn about the history of each country. When it was parent conference day my teacher told my mom that since i’m so good in history I can take World History History 2 honors. I didn’t know what an honors class was at that time but it sounded good so I decided to give it a try. I can’t explain why I choose Avid because actually I got into this class without knowing what Avid was, but I’m glad I applied and had been with this class
Samere interviewed with Detective Walton. Samere attends Reeceville elementary school. Samere discussed different activities he enjoyed doing at school like gym and recess. Humans are complex and intricate beings. We all feel, think, behave and look different. However, psychologists and researchers have been developing patterns in how experiences and processes shape the way we are and how we handle certain tasks. There are many variables that shape the way we learn and remember, our attitudes and personality, and what motivates us. To better understand these experiences and processes, I will compare the same characteristics of my own to a young girl named Jenny. We are both close in age, background, gender, race and circumstance.
During my interview process I did inform everyone that I was interested in the MD/PhD program. nowhere in that interview did I showcase any desire to persuade a MD program only. I only take the MCAT once not twice and the only reason why I signed up for it was because most MD/PhD program require it. If I wanted to apply to an MD program only I would of not accept the invitation to the IPREP program. I have attended many medical conference and for most school’s research was not much of a requirement. even if it was, I have gained ample laboratory experience in the scientific field through my summer internships. All I needed was my volunteer experience and my MCAT score to get into medical school. However, medical school was not my only interest,
I interviewed Officer Greenlee, who is a close friend. She works as a Correctional Officer for the Peoria County Jail, I interviewed her while we were on duty on Saturday, April 16th.
An OTA can benefit from a fruitful interview. My interview with JBMT was highly rewarding and gave an excellent insight into an own culture that differs from my own which led me to understand diversity. The interview helped me get to know a lot about Mr. JBMT; his culture, occupation, and activities. Mr. JBMT is a caucasian male with ancestry origins in Italy, Germany, Russia, Austria, and England. Like most Caucasians, Mr. JBMT respects and observes holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. During these occasions, people come together to appreciate each other with gifts and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Mr. JBMT celebrations with family are traditional and invoke religion.
Being a junior student, is easy to ask me where I want to work at, what kind of career path I want to go. In realist, I have no idea how to become the person that I want to be. However, thanks to the Informal Interview this assignment, I meet Rachel Hua, she is Revenue accountant at Lanyon Solution, Inc. She has been in the company for two years, and recently she has successfully pass the CPA exam in one time within a year. Rachel had graduate in UTD with master degree two years ago; thus, her experience is very useful for me. Before the interview, I know Rachel from a friend of mine, I was very grateful to have her as my professional in this interview; when we meet at Starbucks for the interview, she was very polite, and she said she is very enjoy the chance to share her experience with people. Throughout the interview, I learned an abundance
In my short career search, I interviewed two people: Vernon Hilbert and Ryan Christ. Vernon Hilbert is a retired professor and Ryan Christ is a PhD student at Oxford studying Population Genetics.
For my interest interview I interviewed a boy who is nine years old and in the fourth grade. I interviewed him at my old baby sitters house where he now goes. It was hard to get allot out of him because he was a little shy. I first asked him what his hobbies and interest where he said dancing and basketball. He told me he plays for a league in Kansas City and dances at a dance studio called Dynamic Dance. I asked him what he liked to do in his free time and his answer was to make people laugh, and draw. He actually drew me a picture after I interviewed him it was really good. When I asked him what are some things he dislikes to do he answered with saying, “I dislike getting in trouble.”
The career expert I interviewed was my mother, Mary Israel. She is currently a nurse and has been for the past 29 years. I selected her because she has many experiences in different fields of nursing. I conducted the interview by recording my questions and her responses in person. Her answers are quite helpful for the career I want to pursue.
