This report is organized by beginning with the breakdown of the University of South Florida intercollegiate athletics budget, then by describing particular aspects that have an impact on the cheerleading program as a whole.

Within the Universities operating budget for the 2016-2017 school year a breakdown of the athletics budget is available. The University provides 2.37% of its $1,695,827,240 budget (“Operating Budget”). This is $40,140,918 for the entire USF system, which is then broken down into different aspects such as athletics administration, event management, marketing, business offices, and the enrichment center (“Operating Budget”). One member of the team, Michaels Jones, tells us this, and explains how difficult it is to fit these fundraisers into her already busy schedule. Having the cheerleaders, and band at football games is an important part of the atmosphere and is one aspects many students consider when choosing a school.

Scholarships are something that are often associated with the thought of college athletics, and are used as a way to bring individuals to a particular university. These are an important part of building a team of the best athletes possible. At the University of South Florida, scholarship opportunities for cheerleaders are very minimal. With $24,000 yearly given to this team for this purpose, $500 maximum is available to each student (“Operating Budget”). Due to this lack of funding, many members of the team must have outside jobs in order to make do throughout the school year. Having a job, as well as participating in the 25+ hours of cheerleading related activities, and maintaining eligibility GPA can put a large strain on the athlete (“"USF Spirit Squads”).

Recruitment budget is also an important aspect of continual growth of a team and a way to bring new students to the university. Third year veteran, Michaela Jones, provided insight into the recruitment aspect of USF
