Child neglect is the most common form of child maltreatment in the U.S. The Neglect Data System (NCANDS) for short, recorded approximately 899,000 children in the U.S were victims of abuse and neglect in 2005. Neglect is a type of abuse that is failure by the guardian to provide necessities such as food, clothes, love, and time with the child. Not giving anything that a normal parent would provide to their child. Signs of child neglect are poor hygiene, poor weight gain, poor medical care or frequent absences from school. There are many types of abuse; neglect is just one of them. Here below are the different types of child abuse.
Medical neglect is the failure to provide health care for a child. This can be due to neglect of the unwanting the child or lack of money.Parents may refuse medical care for their children for reasons like religious beliefs, fear or anxiety about medical condition or treatment, or financial issues. Child protective services will try their best to get the child checked up on. Also when a parent ignores medical recommendations for a child with a treatable diseases or disabilities, resulting in frequent hospitalizations. Even …show more content…

Whipping, hitting, slapping, any type of aggression on the child is causing harm which means it is abuse. Many countries determine physical abuse as when a kid has a serious injury, injures such as death, bruises, scratches, burns, and broken bones. Any type of rough treatment is abuse. Psychologist Alice Miller noted for her books “on child abuse, took the view that humiliations, spankings and beatings, and slaps in the face are all forms of abuse, because they injure the `integrity and dignity of a child, even if their consequences are not visible right away” (Gooden). Why would you want to do this to a child. You want to teach your child how to be succesful in life. The kid cannot be succesful if you harm or make his or her life
