Two of my goals that I have are to collaborate more with other student organizations and IUPUI. I think it is important to collaborate with other student organizations because it is a fantastic opportunity for SPA to build relationships with a wide and diverse audience. I want to collaborate with IUPUI by having monthly events and meetings at convenient locations. Approachability and Feedback I am an outgoing and sociable person and I want people to feel free to contact me any questions or comments that they might have. One of the things I am willing to do is to give and receive constructive feedback to and from members. Receiving feedback about SPA and myself will help me know about the concerns of our members. I realized that there are
Collaboration involves negotiation and consensus seeking (Blais & Hayes, 2016). As the assistant director of nursing, I am a member of the Quality Improvement committee. Our purpose is to meet on a monthly basis to review feedbacks from patients regarding their home health aides. We need to know if the patient needs are being met, if they are being treated with respect and what improvements can be made to keep quality aides in order to ensure quality care of patients. Providing good care for home health patients with chronic conditions needs to be organized and coordinated (Barr & Ross, 2007).
1. What is the one topic that really stood out to you in Chapter 9- Collaborating in Teams? Why? Chapter nine in our textbook addressed collaborating in teams. This chapter did an excellent job of informing the reader about several key elements pertaining to teamwork. Topics like elements of teamwork, team dynamics and how to improve them, and ways to enhance teamwork. After completing the homework for this week in conjunction with our required reading assignments one aspect of our reading really stood out to me. Learning about the differences between groups and teams in the workplace was very interesting to me. As learned, there are several fundamental differences between groups and teams. Some of the components of a group are: roles
Reflecting on the social change agents in action videos, the one I found particularly inspiring the “Power of Collaboration" by Marrian Kunth. This because Kunth a very brave woman succeeds to connect with other people’s power and passion. She proves that when collaboration exists between different people from different places, it is easier for them to connect to each other and work together to make a common change.
Problem-solving and collaboration are critical strengths for success in a fluid, diverse environment such as the PRA division. As a student-athlete, I have grown to view time-management, commitment, and cooperation as imperative skills for success. Through Riley Dance Marathon and Special Olympics, as well as a visit to Indiana University’s health care facilities at the epicenter of the HIV epidemic in Kenya, I have discovered my passion and desire to work within the healthcare industry. As a kinesiology major I have a strong background and interest in the medical field that will place me ahead of my peers and push me to excel in your company. Lastly, I firmly believe an experience in the PRA division at Eli Lilly, paired with a liberal arts
My first area of collaboration this coming school year is with my administration team and teachers. By collaborating with these teams, I can help them understand the importance of special education, legal and policy and educating all students. Next, is the collaborating with the district office and making sure that they understand what is going on in the schools so that they can better support leadership and teachers in the school. Last, and most importantly is the collaboration with the students and their families. By being up front and clear with families and students about the student performance and what work is needed to help the student, the better prepares the whole team is in supporting the student.
Collaboration is very important in this process. Setting goals requires that a client be truthful about their strengths and weakness. Sometimes we feel we are strong in some areas when in fact we are not. This is why it is important that the case manager establish a relationship with the client to asked questions to determine their strengths and weakness. The client will be more open to discuss their needs and the case managers will be able to guide the client into listing his or her goals that are achievable. Collaboration is also important when writing the objectives, because the case manager will have to be included in the plan.
Your post is very interesting and it reminds of me in fifth grade, my teachers used to, always have us in groups of eight or twelve students. Our supplies, our books, our assignments and presentation were always in-group. I have learned lot from my classmates while in working in-group. We will always come up with great ideas and the work was shared between all of us. I notice everyone have one individual expertise and it enhance in-group collaboration.
2. As a Canadian volunteer, you have been in country for 2 months. You are working with the partner organization and you notice one of the local staff is not coming to work on time, and not completing any assigned duties. A member of your team starts to complain, and says that the team should alert this to the Country Manager.
The formation of teams and resources involved in forming a successful collaboration takes a time to put together. The essence of formation and the design is one aspect but, how people work together to operate in teams, and how they will accomplish goals together are another aspect of teams. Teams offer the opportunity to expand the division of work, share the amount of work, and increase the quality of the finished products being produced. Friend and Cook (2013), team formation in schools have a special role in certain populations. While a lot of definitions teams vary, the authors are focusing on core functions of teams. In this paper, using the chapters six, seven, and eight will be used as the evaluation for teams, the approach
Effective co-operation and co-ordination among professionals will put patient at the centre of everything thereby implementing a person-centered approach. This is a way of organising and delivering care around the individual. Working in a person-centered way will include the use of ‘putting people first’ (Department of Health, 2007). This is to build a personalised care and support around the patient’s needs by enhancing them to adopt a healthy lifestyle and to be able to self managed their condition.
Teams have identified a network of support and access them regularly as needed through the PLC process.
Project team members are vital to the overall success of the group. Appropriate selection of team members allows for a more efficient and often more successful project. Identifying appropriate team members however, can be quite challenging considering many of the variables needed with the overall selection process. To better identify potential team members, the groups must first conduct a needs assessment. This needs assessment will determine what skills and abilities are needed to better serve the needs of the project. In addition, the group can identify candidates who have obtained those skills and would matriculate well into the group. In addition, the groups will also need to ascertain cultural and personality traits of the individual. Groups often require massive amounts of collaboration and teamwork. If a particular member does not exhibit these qualities, he or she may not be an ideal member of the team. The individual may have the required skill set, but he or she does not have the personality to allow for a cohesive unit to be formed.
Identify and provide an example of the use of lateral collaboration and vertical collaboration within the organization, and prepare an action plan to use lateral and vertical collaboration.
Throughout our collaboration, it was hard to often see the impact that we were having on the community. A lot of other groups were actively engaged, while we were sitting behind a computer screen, creating specialized planning charts to plan out and prep for the future semesters. As important as we knew that this was, it was often hard to accept this and feel as if we were doing something that was important. Every time when we would have a meeting, I would feel as if I was two steps behind, even when I had prepared more than I felt necessary. I soon discovered that this was because in order to collaborate you need to spend a great amount of time engaging with others (even if over email) in order to be prepared. You may not have always thought about every possible aspect and including different perspectives allows you to then view a situation from multiple perspectives instead of just your own. I feel that this experience (of doing a lot online investigating and planning) was very important to the collaboration process because there is a lot of thought that needs to go into this portion of the project. We also had to take into account what other factors that our community advisor thought that we needed to include as a part of our project. Sometimes it was difficult to understand if my community advisor was happy with the work that we were doing. Our goal was to succeed her expectations because we knew that previous semesters have sometimes struggled with this
How do these strategies apply to a team that you are or have been a participating member?
