During the Constitutional Convention, the Federalists and Anti Federalists disagreed on many aspects of the Constitution.The Federalists wanted a strong central government while the Anti Federalists were more for state rights. That is just a small fraction of the many arguments that these two factions disagreed upon. The Constitution was eventually ratified with the Federalists compromising with the Anti Federalists by adding The Bill of Rights, a list of the general rights that a citizen was entitled to. Although the Bill of Rights gives us our inalienable rights, the government has compromised our rights to a significant extent many times in history due to fear, corruption, and control. The government is to be considered the power of the United States. All of its actions are undisputed correct or at least they force Americans to believe that. Many times in history the government was afraid that citizens may spoil their good image and consequently limited their speech. This corruption eventually led to the citizens and the moral compasses of the world, women, tried their best to fix it. An example of their attempts was the Temperance Movement. The women also tried to gain their rights but were inevitable denied by the government. This is supported by the fact that in 1872, Congress passed the Comstock Act which prohibited the selling of certain items in the mail that promoted birth control and other similar ideas. The government took away their rights to one limit them and two enjoy the corruption while they could because if an uprising of people who shared a common goal arose, then they would have been forced to stop the corruption.
