Gun control is a very touchy topic in the US. mass shootings have made this subject harder to talk about, but Americas strong belief in the 2nd amendment make it impossible to completely take away our guns. The most recent mass shooting in Aurora, Colorado has sparked more interest in this topic from both activist and anti-gun advocates. Our culture has always heavily relied on guns for things like hunting, target shooting, and mainly personal protection. Would taking away our guns and to make a safer really work. This is the question will attempt to answer and my short persuasive essay. The first thing I want to bring attention to is the fact that the legalization of guns will always bring about more gun violence in that country. This …show more content…
This drop in assault rifle related crime looks like a welcome relief but can easily be seen as not important in the big picture of thing. When it comes down to it you might not have been able to buy a Colt AR-15 but a very similar model called a Colt Match Target rifle would have been perfectly legal. So regardless big gun companies have already found a way to bend the rules. I want to compare the US to some nations that are very similar and culture and beliefs. To start I want to compare it to the UK(England and Wales). Culturally we're very similar having originally come from England. And the United Kingdom having possession of an automatic firearm sending out a firearm or a handgun is prohibited. They have tried to make it as hard as possible for anyone to possess a firearm with hours of paperwork and third-party references required. This is a result of a massacre that happened in 1987 resulting in 16 people dead and another nine years later after school shooting took the lives of 16 children and their teacher. with all of the strict laws their homicide rate lies around 1.1 per 100,000. This is compared to about 5 per 100,000 in the US from Senate call University. To counter that argument the UK has a higher robbery rate then in the US, this could be due to the fact that store owners have no way to protect themselves. Another alarming statistic is that the UK has higher sexual violence rate than the US. This is surprising thing that the US
Gun control in America is one of the most fiercely debated topics in today’s political sphere. Nearly everyone has an opinion and there is a mind-boggling amount of information typically discussed regarding the matter. Media hot takes and campaign talking points aside, far too many lives have been lost to gun violence. A total of 12,902 in 2016, to be exact. The fact that more lives have been lost to gun violence in the United States this year than the 5,000 lost in the almost 10-year war effort overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan is appalling. Is sensible and reasonable gun control progress attainable in our near future? That remains to be seen, however it is my intention to respectfully dissect an argument presented by none other than an essay
Gun control is a very controversial topic that has has a huge impact on the United States of America. One side believes that if guns were taken away as a whole, the country would see significantly less gun related crimes and death, while the other opposing side thinks that taking away guns is not only against the Second Amendment but would lead to an increase in crime and death because the government would take guns away from people who are legally registered to own and conceal guns. The ongoing debate will continue until the foreseeable future but their are plenty of reasons why more gun laws should be made. Taking away guns is not the answer, learning how to deal with gun violence is the key.
The role guns play in our society has long been debated on whether or not citizens have the right to own guns. There are those who believe that guns have no role in the hands of private citizens. Whereas there are those who believe that guns are the very foundation that protects our rights and liberties expressed in the Constitution. The debate is over whether or not there should be stricter laws preventing people to own guns. Though gun control and gun rights advocates share similar views on background checks and requirements, each have different views on the safety of guns and the Second Amendment meaning.
Sandy Hook Elementary. Aurora, Colorado. San Bernardino, California. Las Vegas, Nevada. Orlando, Florida. (Words with Negative Connotation) These are just some of the biggest mass shootings that have swept America in the past few years. Hundreds of lives are lost each year to gun related violence in the United States alone. Gun control has been a topic in our country since our founding fathers adopted the second amendment to the US constitution. Although recently controversy has sparked to an all-new extent in America due to the recent spike in mass shootings and gun related homicides. So many families and loves ones are affected each year in the United States because of gun related violence and other mass killing events, because of these events gun control laws need to be revamped and strengthened in American in order to protect the citizens.
In today's society there is the question ‘Should there be more gun laws?’. The advancements in military weaponry is nothing short of astounding. With these advancements though, come the ramifications of their inventions. More and more, the nation is seeing these weapons in actions. People are fearful and demand more laws, but that is not the answer to this dilemma. More gun laws would not resolve this problem for numerous reasons; more gun laws would lead to more violence, the United States alwardy have an excessive amount on gun laws, and the nation looks at the object not the person. The United States have to address these issues before a change will happen.
More gun laws would have a negative effect on shootings and crime rates. Stricter gun laws would not prevent people from getting guns, would not prevent killings, and would not fare well with the people of the United States. Strict gun laws would only prevent law-abiding citizens from getting guns, and criminals would still be able to get them. Crime and shooting rates do not go down after increase in gun-restrictive laws are passed. People in the United States have the right to defend themselves from harm, and the 2nd Amendment right to own firearms.
A controversial subject in America today is gun control; should there be or should there not be. I do not know the answer to this question, but I do have an opinion as most citizen of our country. All trough our history guns have been used for the good of the people, and on the other hand, they have been used for the not so good of the people; however, as with most things there is a good use and a bad use. I believe the good uses out weigh the bad uses in this case. In this essay I am going to discuss three reasons I am against gun control: one being it is our constitutional right to bear arms, two every citizen should have the right to protect themselves, their family, and their property, and three for conservation purposes hunting
While many people believe there should be more gun control and the possibility of banning guns all together, I believe the gun control laws should not be changed. Although there are many reasons that may persuade people to choose to ban guns, I believe that there are several other reasons that lead to all the tragedies with guns in America. Banning guns is not an answer the gun problem in America, there are a few other things that could be done to stop gun violence. In this essay I will tell about why I believe gun control laws should not be changed.
As studies show, every day Americans are injured or killed by guns. However, to stop this ongoing issue our country needs to go to source of the problem and change the laws.
Imagine this, there is a gazelle and a Cheetah, what would happen if you cut off the horns of the gazelle? Would the Cheetah not come and attack the gazelle because it’s “Too Easy”. No, it would just be easier for the Cheetah to get its prey/ gazelle. The innocent gazelle will get slaughtered by this ruthless Cheetah This is the same with the Gun Control issue. If you take away the guns what will you do to protect your family, when there is a ruthless killer similar to the fierce Cheetah? Guns may hurt others but as well can protect others. Guns are not even the problem sometimes it is the sharp everyday tools (scissors, knives, etc). So are guns really the problem, or is it the one behind the trigger the problem? The violence and racism in America are the main problems that lead the shootings. Is it the mental problems? The Medical? The Criminal? In this essay the proposition in store is for background checks, to see if the buyer has medical, mental or even criminal records shown, if so then the buyer won't be buying anything. Well this essay is here to show what proposition is best
Gun control is one of the most talked about topics in modern day America. 43 of 50 states have the right to bear arms. Most states have to background check you in order for you to purchase or sell guns. Some other states prevent carrying guns and some other ban assault rifle weapons. People who support the gun laws say that the second amendment was meant for militias and that gun restrictions have always existed. People who oppose that say that guns are needed for self-defense from people who invade houses or are actual threats. Although both of those are correct, there will always be two sides for control laws.
People all across the world are debating about whether to require the start of reducing gun violence. Guns have always been a part of American culture, even before we became the America we know today. In colonial times and the days of the Wild West, guns were an essential part of survival. They were needed to kill animals for food and to protect against unwanted trespassers and predators. However, in these modern times, because we have conveniences such as Hannaford and organized police systems, guns have gone from tools of necessity to novelty toys. For the most part, people own guns in this century for sporting reasons or to protect their families and home from intrusion. The simplicity of a gun and the lack of effort it requires owning
Aurora, Newtown, Chattanooga, and Lafayette have recently been the settings of dreadful tragedies. Each of these catastrophes results in select politicians, and even President Barrack Obama, demanding Gun control across the United States of America. Some anti-gun activists desire stricter gun laws, while other anti-gun activists have acquired aspirations for a ban on all guns across the nation. They claim that the Second Amendment is outdated, and that we will be safer in the complete absence of firearms. This has been, and continues to be, a popular topic of discussion especially with the Presidential Race coming upon us. This highly debated subject can be summarized into one question; does gun control work?
Guns have always been a major problem in the United States of America. The Second Amendment to the Constitution gives us the right to “bear arms,” which makes everyone feel they need to have a gun, and that can lead to dangerous situations for people in the US. It is very easy to get yourself a gun. It costs less than an iPhone to get. The problem I am trying to get at is that there are inevitably going to be gun-use violations, and people can use the Second Amendment to get guns way too easily. My essay will deal with how we can create laws and practices to regulate guns, how we can stop guns from getting into the wrong hands, and also how we can prevent mass shootings.
While some people don't approve of gun control laws others disagree, saying that the laws keep people safe. An average of 10 people in each state are saved by gun control laws every week (factcheck.org). Did you know 3% of people are caught each year not following the laws of gun control. In a similar form there are violations of the laws were over 5% of people are making their own guns because they aren’t allowed to own a gun legally. Although with a variety of people making their own guns can cause almost ⅓ of the deaths each year. In conclusion to my topic, there should have gun control laws. study from 2005 to 2010 found that firearms were stolen in about 4 percent of the 2.4 million break ins involving ghost guns. Order to minimize the
