In America kids get the opportunity to get a free education but not anyone takes advantage of this opportunity. In countries like Iraq not a lot of kids get the opportunity to get an education. In countries like these only boys are allowed to get an education while girls are forced to stay home not to step foot into a school or get the right to learn and expand their minds. While kids might complain about school or don’t want to go they should think of the children not being able to learn at all. I know that I want to be very successful and so do a lot of kids but education can be beneficial in many ways. Education can save children’s lives, increase income, and reduces poverty.
One big thing every child around the world have in common is that they want to make a lot of money when they grow up. I am pretty sure that no one wakes up and says that they want to be broke and stupid when they grow up. Money is a common interest for everyone no matter what age and if anyone had the opportunity to increase their income they would take the chance, even if it means going back to school. In an article written by Global Partnership “ The average student in lower-income countries performs worse than the 5th percentile in higher-income countries. These children end up learning basic math skills by grade 6, instead of grades 2 or 3.’’. That quote is showing that even by increasing your math skills you can earn more money than you would have at the level skill you were before. Even
Knowing human nature, there is likely to be a case in which one would look for ways to benefit themselves when they provide help to another. It might seem farfetched, but education has a direct connection to the wealth in society because access to education is one way of eradication poverty. In a newspaper article regarding a funding debate, it asks,”imagine a world without innovation/ The best ideas emanate from thoughtful research, discipline and teamwork. They are built on successes and failures of the past (“Without access to education … WEALTH Disappears”). One cannot indulge through his or her property without a strong cibil system. Wealth and cil systems will always be passed down through generations. It is important to educate children about such systems to not only increase civic engagement but prevent poor events of the past from reoccurring. In a sense, the world will always be advancing technologically and other ways. Education will end up bringing people together to come up with resolutions to problems. Prioritizing in an education system will determine the outcome on students. In an editorial news service, “studies show that although the concept of quality of education is still contentious, it is clear that good quality education facilitates the acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudes that have intrinsic value and
Here in America every single child is sent to school starting at the age of five years old for kindergarten, and sometimes as early as two years old for pre-school and continue on to get an education late into their twenties, some even going on to take classes the rest of their lives. Education in America is something that is readily available and even is required by law, but taken for granted by many children. On flip side third world countries often do not have schools or public education mandated by government, and most times it is not even available when most children yearn for it. Education is taken for granted in America, and in third world countries where education is almost completely absent something can be learned from their
Education is the factor in our society, or any society for that matter, that allows people to strive for their chances of equality, or better yet, greatness in a convoluted world belonging to both marginalization and wealth. However, at the same time, many people are being forced to miss out on their chances for an education and the opportunities that come with it. If we improve the opportunities for education, we also stand to diminish troublesome income disparities. Such a course of action is something that depends on the school districts and the resources that are available to them. If one takes a look back at the history of education in our country, they could undoubtedly see challenges to education access and how far the United States has come since then in providing said access. The positive development has seen increased education access for demographic groups ranging across four specific categories: ethnics, race, gender and one 's place in the class system.
In America, girls and boys across the country have the privilege to be enrolled in an educational system. For thirhteen years, students are taught by college educated teachers and learn material to help us move forward in our carrier. Americans take this opportunity without even thinking about it, but do not realize how much students take this for granted. In the school I have been placed in, my teacher took it upon herself to show us education in different cultures, and the outcome of the lesson was shocking for me. In the book A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, readers realize how much women are looked down upon in Afghanistan, yet it was eye opening for me to see what these girls are missing out on. From birth, they are categorized are lesser than men. Never getting the same chances, their life is centered around pleasing their husband. Education is not even an option for most women. I believe all women should have the same opportunity in this world, despite what country they reside in.
In the United States, a child needs there education and they’re required to go to school by law. Getting a education for a girl in the middle east is very rare, it all depends on the family. BBC News published a article Muslim Women Struggle for an education, and they asked parents why they did not allow their girls to go to school and they said “because it’s wrong, it’s irreligious, it’s improper- they should stay at home to prepare for their real life, their married life”. The girls have no option and have to obey their parents. A lack of education means that these girls are not going to have the knowledge in order to read, write, and solve mathematic problems . Women in the Middle East are not considered equal with males because the society they live in doesn't accept the idea of them having equal opportunity as male
7.28 Billion people live in the world. An average of 30 Million people don't have an education. You begin to wonder, is this our system failing or is it us ? Many people don't even get the opportunity to attend school nevertheless get to finish it. According to the recent launch of First Lady, Michelle Obama ‘Let Girls Learn’ program, she uncovered the various reasons on why many students don't get an education; In this case it was based more upon girls but the same idea is with the boys. Mrs.Obama and her team exposed that most students get discriminated on going to school off the child like factors such as their gender, race, financial status and their religion. Education is a powerful tool and an asset in today’s fast moving society. Boys
Our country is a democratic one. It is supposed to be a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Education plays a large role in that. Many believe that in democratic societies a free education is each citizen’s right. Others see education as a privilege, one that must be earned. The fact that education is key in making political, social, and economic decisions which help our government to stay true to its basis, and the fact that without at least some level of education, citizens can not get jobs and provide for the families prove that education should be considered a right in the United States.
Today there is a colossal gap in education among the wealthy and underprivileged. There is also a significant gap in education based on race. Does growing up in a family with or without money really impact your education? Are kids given a better education if they have money? Education should be equal to everyone, but it is not. One obstacle facing kids living at or below the poverty level is that their parents didn’t have a valuable education. Either they didn’t finish high school or they didn’t go to college. Consequently, the reason most people don’t go to college is that cannot afford it. Kids who grow up in families that don’t have a lot of money normally don’t have the skills they need to enter kindergarten. On the other side kids who
Since the beginning of mankind, humans have worked together in order to create a more advanced and enjoyable world for all of mankind. In Alison Gopnik’s article, “Brains, Schools and a Vicious Cycle of Poverty,” she discusses an important problem that has endured throughout many generations. She explained that in our society, children continue to be trapped in a cycle of poverty, because the harmful effects caused by being raised in the lower-income can determine a person's ability to learn. It is evident in our society, that in order for a person to become successful, it is crucial that they grow up in an environment where they experience beneficial learning opportunities that allow them to focus on education. Gopnik efficiently conveys that ending the vicious cycle of poverty is extremely crucial for our society's prosperity, by using scientific evidence to support her notion, and also by explaining how the development of children’s brains has a significant effect on their ability to succeed.
“Education promotes equality and lifts people out of poverty. It teaches children how to become good citizens. Education is not just for a privileged few, it is for everyone. It is a fundamental human right.” - Ban Ki-moon
In Opinion: Syrian kids need an education — rich countries must pay for it by Malala Yousafzai and Muzoon Almellehan, School just a dream for many Afghan children, working hard for low pay by Los Angeles Times and the MSNBC video. There are similarities with all of the articles’ central ideas, but there are differences with the author's craft. In the middle eastern countries, the children do not have the proper education because some of these schools have been blown up by terrorists and also most families have poverty so some put their children to work.
Money cannot buy happiness, but it can buy education. In this great country of ours, education is not a privilege it is a right. All children are given the opportunity to a free education. An education that should allow them to become high school graduates, 21st Century scholars, and prepare them as leaders to sustain this nation. What happens though when this is not the future for all children? The problem at hand is not all children are receiving the same educational opportunities. Not all children graduate from high school and not all lead successful careers as adults. Why is this the outcome for some and not others?
Approximately 75 million children around the world have no opportunity to attend primary school. Of the 75 million, most of them are girls due to tradition or parents that hold them back from attending ("Main Navigation"). Other factors that affect children from going to school is because of conflicts and wars that result in schools to be destroyed and families to flee the country. Lack of education is a growing crisis due to many factors in developing countries but it has the power pull a country out of poverty and make them economically stable and attract other countries to trade, therefore it should be seen as a priority. Developed countries are involved to help countries increase their education because every child should have the
In some countries, it is illegal for girls to get an education, but in other countries it’s illegal for a child to miss too many days of school. Every region of the world has it’s own rules about schooling, but I believe it is important for every child/young adult to receive
Education is an influential and impactful topic that is always a subject on the minds of the public and for politicians. I believe that education would have an overall beneficial component because when more people are educated in a “book-self” and “street-self manner,” they are more likely to be better prepared for what the world has in store for them. So, I agree with James Heckman, the known Nobel Price-winning economist, who proposes that the earlier that kids are able to receive proper money to obtain an education, the better return for giving back to the community and spreading efficiency in those that they may interact with in the world (Smith, History of U.S. policies on child care, 2015). So, even positive reinforcement, which has been learned in various psychology courses, comes into play here (Mahoney, 2014; Smith, 2012 & 2015).
