Pathos/ethos/logos
A lot of pathos were used a lot by Donald trump in the debate. For example, trump was trying to persuade to the people that the stop and frisk law would work. He was coming off in the debate, like that would be the only thing that stops the crime in the inner cities. Hillary was also trying to convince to the crowd how trump was a racist (which is true) and how he disrespects women. Donald trump also began interrupting Hillary while she was talking in her debate, when he felt she was saying something that got to him.
Hillary Clinton brought up trump’s experience with racism which was true and It kind of got under his skin. This Is when Donald Trump brought up the fact that Hillary was talking bad about barrack. When Hillary spoke on how trump

Donald trump bypasses her antics by bringing up the story about her email scandal in the debate. In the debate trump looked like he was disrespecting Hillary Clinton, especially when she was talking. Trump’s arrogance showed a lot at the debate from watching his facial expressions and his tone.
Both Clinton and Trump have problems with some of the ethos challenges. Like trump has been caught lying a lot during his time speaking. Hillary Clinton was also trying to dance around his statements as well. I believe that Hillary came with more facts and statements that made sense in the story. Trump was talking about things that didn’t make sense, especially the stop and frisk law.
Hillary Clinton has a chance to win the election and so does trump in this election. They are both even as far as voters. I just feel that Hillary has a better chance at being a president, Trumps statements are totally wrong. He stated that African Americans and Latinos are living in hell in inner cities. I live in the inner city and my life seems to be okay, but I understood what he meant but he wasn’t all the way
"The only thing she’s got going is the women’s card." Hillary Clinton is a former secretary of state, U.S. senator, and first lady, making her one of the most qualified presidential candidates in U.S. history. Also Donald Trump goes on to say “Both men and women can be victims of sexual harassment in the workplace, though women make up nearly 80 percent of the victims. Trump believes that if a woman is harassed, she should leave the workplace. Also Trump thinks that women who pursue abortions should obtain "some form of punishment" if abortions become banned. In my opinion, Donald has something against women being that he bashes them every chance he gets. Also concerning African American Trump says “If Black lives don’t matter, then go back to Africa.” Donald Trump is using racism to rise to power while promising to make America “great again.” In my opinion, I got that he meant when America was segregated. Donald Trump has a lot of media influence tying back to chapter
This year the presidential elections will take place at the beginning of November, and there are lots of people wondering how this is going to end. Some candidates for these presidential elections may not have been the best choice for their respective parties, but the one that really shouts, “I should not be here” is Mr. Donald Trump. His personality and actions are not the correct ones for a president because of his temper and comments against other cultures. On the other hand, we have Mrs. Clinton who is a more competent candidate; she has more experience on the field of politics than Mr. Trump who has none at all, which are the reasons why she is a better choice as a candidate and as president of the U.S.
To start with let us take a look at the positions of both candidates. Hilary Clinton is a democrat who announced her bid for presidency in an email to donors from her campaign chairman John Podesta on April 12, 2015 which was followed shortly thereafter with an official campaign video titled “Getting Started”. Clinton has served as the secretary of state of the United States of America and as a New York senator. Her stance on the national budget generally leads to an increase in spending and her stance on the second amendment is to increase the amount of control on the buying and selling of firearms. Clinton supports the equality of gay-marriage to “traditional marriage” saying, “I support marriage for lesbian and gay couples. I support it personally and as a matter of policy and law embedded in a broader effort to advance equality and opportunity for LGBT Americans and for all Americans. ”[1] Which differs from Trumps belief that marriage is between a man and
Clinton shows her civility to her opponent, Trump. In order to get more votes and win the presidency. In Mel Robbins’s criticism, she is a Clinton supporter but she thinks Clinton was being polite in the debate which can not help her to win the election, It’s a bad advice that Clinton’s adviser told her to restrict contend with Trump. Trump was constantly sniffing all night, Clinton’s way rebuttal to Trump was smiling and responding questions like a president. Clinton was being polite in the debate but it can’t help her to win the election. In Ruth Ben-Ghiat’s criticism, she thinks Clinton was started out soft, real quick she changed to the tough talk in country’s political, Trump lost his altitude in the debate, ranting, interrupting others’
Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump differed on almost all the important and controversial issues, such as women’s health care and immigration reform. These issues and their positions on these relate
I donnot agree that Trump stood out in this debate, he did not show the same strength and toughness than in previous debates. Trump seemed confident since he leads the national polls. That is why the mogul did not strike back at the attack of his opponents, he probably did not want to say anything that could damage his position of front-runner, and he just let his opponents fighting
Donald Trump announces his candidacy by insulting Mexicans and calling for a ban on Muslims. He went on to say that he would build this wall and MAKE Mexico pay for it. In his SO CALLED outreach to African-Americans, he insulted the Black Community with his disrespectful rhetoric. Trump didn’t stop there. His bullying on twitter against women, a Gold Star Family, the FBI, and people who don’t agree with him had been relentless until his aides took away his twitter account the last few days before election day. In his last debate with Hillary Clinton, he interrupted her by calling her a “Nasty Woman”, simply because she stated that he would pay more taxes under her administration if he didn’t find a way to get out of it. Trump thought because he was rich, arrogant, and egotistical that he could get away with bullying and
Trump was basically telling the people what they wanted to hear and I thought he was doing pretty good. On the other hand he also wasnt answering the questions the way they needed to be answered. In the debate Hilary talks about how we should start small companies in to increase the work for everyone. While Trump is trying to lower everything, Hilary wants people to have a fair job and wants the wealthy to help out the people by donating clothes or anything else to get involved. Trump on the other hand, wants the companies to stop moving around to different states just stay in one location. Throughtout this debate, I believe Trump is accusing Hilary for Americas debt and how he is basically saying its increased by 2 because of President Barack Obama. However, Hilary is not pointing any fingers at
The 2016 Presidential election is getting closer and the two major party nominees are getting ready for the fight of their lives, and not holding back any punches. In the red corner, representing the Republican Party, Donald Trump, the successful business person wants to make America great again. In the blue corner, representing the Democratic Party, Hilary Clinton, the former first lady and Secretary of state is making history as the first female major party Presidential candidate. Both have toured the country in full campaign mode trying to win the heart and vote of the American voters. The 2016 Presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, have very different views on debated topics
Meanwhile, Trump admitted during his first presidential debate on Monday that he had wanted to hit back at his Democratic rival for bringing up his opposition to equal pay laws and his calling women “pigs, slobs, and dogs.” However, he revealed that he could not do it because Hillary Clinton’s daughter Chelsea was in the debate venue, The Guardian
Being two completely different people; Trump who is strong, independent, and temperamental but still holding some of the same values as quite, small, and confident Secretary Clinton sounded like something that would never happen.
And that he just used racist rhetoric to court voters. Because when you're courting someone, you are always willing to pretend you are something you are not." In Lecture 2B we spoke about the fact that a successful speaker is one that is able to reflect the qualities and values which perceived important by the group he speaks to. Moreover, it is also about the use of rhetoric in the service of one's interests. It is a very common rhetorical tool, and can be a very dangerous one, as we know from history, e.g. Second World War. For example, they use metaphors to demonstrate and visualize the differences between identity groups by referring to one group as viruses or dehumanizing them. These methods deepens the social cleavages instead of defragment them. Now, Trump and Clinton for example were aware of the fact that it deepens the problems and emphasis the differences between groups. But because it is a very efficient rhetorical method they used it
This article explicitly addresses the sexist comments Trump had brought up before the commencement of the debate; along the way he outright avoided answering, or clarifying these statements after being asked to explain what he was trying to say in the process of making these statements. Not only did these comments come off as sexist, but some also came off as racist. As a result he lost votes that came from different voting communities from which he needed in order to get votes from every possible group/aspect. Not only did he lose votes as a result of these comments, but he also lost even more respect from some voters. The author of this piece, felt that Trump was determined to make women feel as though, they were looked down upon. Not only
This clip was taken from the second presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton dated October 9, 2016. The linked segment is a perfect example of a red herring fallacy. To understand what a red herring fallacy is in relation to argumentation, an explanation of fallacy is needed. According to the lecture by Professor Allman, a fallacy is an argument that is flawed by irrelevant or inadequate evidence, erroneous reasoning, or improper expression (Allman, 2016). A red herring fallacy, is when a speaker introduces an irrelevant issue or piece of evidence to divert attention away from the original issue (Allman, 2016). In this youtube clip, the Presidential candidate, Donald Trump responds to a specific question by brushing it off
Trump immediately came under attack from multiple sides for reportedly not acting presidential in the manner of his predecessors who often leaned towards unambiguous language when
