My visit to Barnes and Noble at union square was a pleasant surprise. It took me about an hour and a half to get there by train. Opening its green rusty entrance doors lead me to a warm welcoming scene filled with smiles and air conditioning for all four floors. I was surprised by how low the prices were for the books and it the variety of categories in each category. There were floors dedicated to fiction and nonfiction. Floors even had Sections for textbooks, love novels, cookbooks, and even jokes. I was even more surprised they sold Old collectables for Star Wars, Marvel, and DC. I spent 30 min reading joke books with my friend but decided to eventually hop on the escalator that lead me to the next floor, which was filled with fictional books.

The weathered shelves stretch to the ceiling like trees grasping the sky; books spill out like foliage. The leather spines of centuries-old tomes have begun to unravel and fall away, leaves bidding adieu to their mother tree in late autumn. A musty smell—not unlike old money or days-old French bread—saturates the air and tickles your nostrils. You run your fingers over the worn, splintered wood of the bookshelves, your fingertips catching the grooves of past nicks and etchings. After much deliberation, you select a thick maroon book with black lettering. It weighs heavy in your hands. Careful not to tear a page or split the seams, you open the book. You open the third matryoshka.
So, be sure that the location of your potential business is profitable in every way.

With such a saturation of new content in the market, it stands impossible for every beloved, classic, or quality title to remain in print. Books as we know them have existed since the invention of the printing press by Gutenberg in the mid-1400s. Undoubtedly, between then and now, numerous worthwhile titles have fallen by the wayside - out of print and out of reach to all but the most perseverant researchers.
