Felon Wes Influence On The Environment

As a direct result of his years at the military school, Wes graduated high school on time and continued his education. On the other hand, “Other” Wes did not graduate from high school. Rather than attempt to turn his life around, “Other” Wes turned to a life of pushing drugs and committing crimes, a lifestyle that would later result in long prison sentences for him. This is a result of him not receiving any effective disciplinary action from his mother or any other important role models in his life because rather than try to live his life according to any standard set for him early in life, he disregarded the law and those around him. Author Wes’s self-discipline, family discipline, and military discipline all resulted in him having a prosperous life starting immediately after he graduated. He eventually attended college and interned at the Baltimore city's mayor's office. While the “other” Wes had no discipline in his life which led it to spiral out of control. After trying getting back into selling drugs, “other Wes” committed a robbery with his brother Tony which went from bad to worse when it resulted in the death of a policeman who had taken up a second job as a security guard at the jewelry store Wes

In the other Wes Moore it’s about one name but two different fates. It describes how both Wes Moore’s started life started and how it is now. Both started in bad steps Wes Moore the author was sent to military school and put his life back on track and how the other Wes Moore continued his drug life and now he is serving life sentence. I believe that the other Wes Moore could have done something different to have a better life and not end up in prison serving life sentence.

“The chilling truth is that his story could’ve been mine. The tragedy is that my story could’ve been his,” (Wes Moore) is the main thought throughout the book, The Other Wes Moore. This book is about the difference of decision making. Constantly throughout The Other Wes Moore the two main characters, both named Wes Moore, are faced and challenged with hard decisions that could drastically turn their lives around. The author, Wes Moore, is a famous author with two books on the New York Times Bestsellers list, and is a decorated U.S. Army officer. While the other Wes Moore, is now in jail for life for killing a police officer during a failed bank robbery. Their decisions that they made throughout lives shaped the outcome of their lives today.

I think that Intrinsic factors play the most part In the book Called the other Wes Moore.Intrinsic to me Is mindset. In the book Wes moore both of the Wes had different opportunity to get out the hood And change their Lives.Wes made bad decisions that got him lock up.Wes was labeled as a criminal at the age eight- years- old because of the drugs he was selling.And that leads Into mineset because no one told him to do It but he thought that he was going to fit In with what was going on in the hood.Tony his big brother was telling him to not do It but as mineset to wes no one was going to stop him.Than the the other wes/ author was going for success ,but In his did run into trouble with the police, but change it for the better.The author went to the army to get away and then after that became who he Is today.

When most people hear the name Wes Moore, they think of the Wes Moore that is a decorated veteran and author, but when Wes Moore hears his name, he thinks about not himself, but the Wes Moore serving life in prison for first-degree felony murder. They both grew up in similar settings and both had trouble with the police, but there lives are the complete opposite now. Most people wonder how that could happen. Each Wes ended up on totally different paths as evidenced by actions and events that took place in each of their lives. Throughout the following paragraphs, how each Wes’s life slowly became different will become clear.

Throughout the first three chapters of the book, we get to know both of the Wes Moore’s childhoods which are filled with crucial point in the sense of the development of a child. For example, both of the father figures are missing in both Wes Moore’s life, but the reasons lack similarity. For the soon to be smart Wes Moore, his father was a great man whom he admired but suddenly died due to the lack of treatment from the hospital. As for the other Wes Moore, he does not know his father at all, but from what the story depicts to us, he is a drunk who does not care for his child. Later on, the soon to be smart Wes Moore moves to his grandparent’s home in the Bronx, which seems at the time a very dangerous place to live in. The soon to be jailed

The Other Wes Moore focuses on two men both named Wes Moore. They have both lead lives that were similar to each other as they grew up in fatherless homes in the inner cities of Baltimore and the Bronx. However, the two ended up taking very different paths and through the book you see a shift for the good in the author Wes’s life path, while the other Wes’s path takes a turn for the worst. Both of the two grew up on the street, dealing drugs, skipping school, and making poor choices. While both Wess’ had figures in their lives that tried to keep them on the right path, such as author Wes’s mom, Joy, or other Wes’s brother ,Tony, they continued down dark paths. These things lead to the author Wes being sent to military school by his mom, who throughout the book is constantly trying to get Wes the best education that she can. The other Wes never got this change and stayed on the street and is now in jail for life for being involved with a robbery gone wrong where a cop ended up getting shot. After attending military school at Valley Forge Military Academy, author Wes improved his grades, became a decorated solider, and a Rhodes Scholar. The two paths split dramatically in the book but the choices and roles easily could have been reversed had the either of the two made a few different choices while they were growing up. Author Wes was able to give up dealing drugs, while the other Wes was never able to afford giving it up, even though he tried several times,

While Wes Moore was able to change his situation and begin to make better decisions, the other Wes Moore was never able to accomplish such task. During one of their conversations, the incarcerated Wes said, "From everything you told me, both of us did some pretty wrong stuff when we were younger. And both of us had second chances. But if the situation or the context where you make the decisions don't change, then second chances don't mean much, huh?" (66). In the same conversation, about ¼ of the way into the book Moore realized an important aspect in life, "I sat back, allowing Wes's words to sink in. Then I responded, 'I guess it's hard sometimes to distinguish between second chances and last chances.'" (Moore 67).

Throughout the novel The Other Wes Moore by Wes Moore, two individuals with the same name and hometown provide two different backstories that influenced their future. One became an international scholar and paratrooper while the other became a criminal who got locked up for his crimes. There are three key differences that account for how their lives diverged. Those differences are the influences their families had on them, their surroundings, and their life choices.

The Other Wes Moore tells a story of two young men growing up in similar situations. No father, kipping class, drug influence some situations the Wes Moore’s have to deal with, however one ends up a road scholar and influential author the other ends up in prison serving life. This book is a prime example of how certain choices can determine the rest of one’s life.

At this point while the author Wes was in the military, the other Wes Moore was still selling drugs and doing illegal businesses,at this point his mom Mary also knew that he was involved in that and she decided to ignore it. The other Wes Moore was doing very good money but that was not what he wanted anymore, he tried to turn his life around, he wanted to leave his past behind so, he attended Job Corps with hope of finding a better job but that didn’t happen, he was father of a child and gaining the minimum wage was not enough so he had to go back to his past life as drug dealer that’s when he noticed that there was nothing left for him to do because he had tried everything,was hard for him to keep

The book The Other Wes Moore is about two boys growing up in the same area just a block apart within a year of each other sharing the same name. One Wes Moore (the author) grows up to be a an American author, social entrepreneur, producer, political analyst, and decorated US Army officer while the other ends up in prison for life convicted of murder. One of the few major differences between them was discipline and grit: the power of passion and perseverance. What decided each one of the young man's fate? Many things contribute to one's life and how they become the people that they are.

The story of either of the Wes Moore, as the reader learns throughout the book, could have happened to the other one or to the both yet only one ended in jail while the other ended as a notable banker and trader. Therefore, people can then question themselves why it did not happen to the two of them and why the Wes Moore, who never knew about his father, was the one who ended incarcerated because, as the reader learn, both of them grew up subjected to the ambushes of the ghetto such as racism, insurgency, brutality and drug consumption.

In his book “The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates”, author Wes Moore writes an alternating narrative of his life journey and that compared to the other Wes Moore. When looking into the book one can see that there are many themes displayed throughout the novel. Those themes that I am going to discuss in depth are nature versus nurture, the four Baurmind’s parenting styles, and morals/values, as well as a couple others. Wes Moore 1 (the author) grew up around the corner from Wes Moore 2 (the murderer), yet was able to travel on the complete opposite path in life. This incredible book shows how there are so many circumstances that play a big role in what journey we take in life.
