The Dogger Bank earthquake of 1931 was the strongest earthquake recorded in the United Kingdom since measurements began. It had a magnitude of 6.1 on the Richter Scale, and it caused a shaking intensity of 3 to 4 on the Mercalli scale.
The location of the earthquake in the North Sea meant that damage was significantly less than it would have been had the epicentre been on the British mainland.
Filey Brigg is a promontory, jutting out 1600 metres into the sea. Below the cliffs, the promontory continues as a blade of rock, barely above the waves. At low tide, this rocky point is a haven for fishermen, naturalists and fossil hunters. The Spittal is an enigmatic rock structure running out from the Brigg, which may be the remains of an ancient harbour, perhaps serving the Roman signal station, which used to be on the cliffs above, which have now moved to Crescent Gardens for all visitors to enjoy.
The museum, a past winner of Discover Yorkshire Coast’s Small Attraction of the Year award, is housed in a building dating from 1696 and is crammed with fascinating memorabilia, including an extensive photographic archive. The parish church, St Oswald’s, was built in the 12th and 13th centuries, and once boasted Charlotte Brontë amongst its congregation.
Responses such as naturalness, unspoilt landscape, relaxing view are rated highly when people stated what they liked about the beach.

Based on our learning from week one of our class, the purpose of this paper is to discuss the leadership perspectives manifested in both Bobby Knight and Mike Krzyzewski, coaches who have made significant marks in their field in college basketball. I hope to be able to identify the power bases both coaches rely upon, as well as whether their actions are more aligned with either a managerial role or leadership role. In addition, I hope to identify how significant the leadership traits have influenced their leadership, based on the five-factor

The beautiful Brixham harbour is only a five minute walk away from this lovely accommodation. This makes this accommodation centrally located, near some of the town’s hot spots. The coastal footpaths found nearby are great for an afternoon walk by the water and shore. While you’re out doing that, stop by one of the local shops and pubs. The “Real Ale” was voted the Devon Pub of The Year. It is only a three minute walk
For the coastal environment and processes of the island, the low energy waves create flat beaches because waves’ sediments are pushed by the wind toward the coastline. On the opposite, the high energy waves create coastal cliffs from wave erosion, and when coastal cliffs are formed, waves will break and release a great deal of energy. In addition, the island shorelines vary from cobbled stone to fine sand, and with salt marshes in a few coves such as the one near Maugers Beach. The sandy shores are mostly located at Ives Cove and Wreck Cove. Cobbles shores are mostly located at Hangmans Beach and Finlays. In addition, there are a few rocky shores in the region such as the one which is located at Maugers Beach or McNabs Cove. Furthermore, there are some infrastructures near the coast such as building, wharves and streets.
Seaside Living celebrates our connection to the seaside – whether as a summer playground, winter hideaway or permanent abode, there is nothing quite so relaxing as living by the water.
The visits to the seaside have a long story (‘The origins of the seaside resort: 1750-1840’ – The Seaside, 2014); in Roman times these resorts were populated by wealthy people who were able to spend a lot of their time at leisure and had villas by the sea or made trips to the shores of the Mediterranean. Thereafter the seaside lost its attractions, becoming a working place rather than an entertaining place, however the seaside became popular again in the eighteenth century. ‘The idea of a seaside as a healthy place has a long history’ (Brunton, 2014, p. 170), doctors in the 1730 begun to recommend drinking and bathing in seawater; bathing at that time contrary to what we think today was considered a therapy where
