Florida Recruiting: Making Florida fun again
In a few weeks, the Athletic Director for the University of Florida, Scott Stricklin, will announce the new head football coach for the Gators. One huge focal area for Stricklin is finding a coach that will implement an offensive scheme that matches the Gators' need.
The certain type of offense that many are calling for in Gainesville is the spread option philosophy, while also running run/pass option attacks (once seen under Urban Meyer). Currently, the Gators' 2018 recruiting class has pieces that fit the mold to these sorts of schemes.

An up-and-rising coach that checks off that criteria is University of Central Florida's Head Coach, Scott Frost. His immediate

Recruits That Must Stay in Class
Whoever the next head coach is for the Gators, they will inherit a plethora of talent on the offensive of the ball. As it stands, they will also likely walk into one of the best recruiting classes of the 2018 cycle, highlighted by 4-star quarterback Matt Corral. Corral has reiterated multiple times that he is committed to the Florida Gators and will be early-enrolling despite the coaching changes.
From a recruiting standpoint, Corral is a west-coast type of prospect that can arrive in Gainesville and compete day one at the quarterback positions. The different skillset he will provide for this position group is something the unit has been missing for quite some time. The ability to extend plays, throw on the run, and move the chains with his legs separates Corral from many quarterbacks in this class. He has a legitimate opportunity to start game one next season, with the inadequate play Florida has seen from multiple quarterbacks this season. For a spread offensive scheme, Corral is the perfect fit.
But, along with Corral, the next coach will need to get wide receiver prospects Jacob Copeland and Jamarr Chase to stay firm with their commitments to the Gators #AllBite18 class. Both players possess unbelievable athletic ability that can piece together this broken offense. Their abilities to reel in tough catches, fool defenders in their route tree, and their deep ball threat are all pieces this Florida

Alabama has had some of the best coaches in College football history like Bear Bryant (Hoes 7). Nick Saban is the head coach of Alabama. Maisel stated, “None of them achieved what Alabama is achieving under Saban” (1). Not only has Saban already brought a national title to ‘Bama, but he’s winning consistently, posting a 38-11 record so far (Heos 32). Considering that he’s compiled that record in a conference

The turmoil at Florida after Urban Myer left, the chaos that has been Tennessee, which has only recently been calmed by the inception of Butch Jones or the consistent underperformance of Mark Richt coached Georgia teams. However, although coaching is a factor, perhaps the true reason lies with recruiting. It stands to reason that the better players on the field will win. Yes, we all know of the team that overperforms. They play above their ability. In most cases though, when lined up across from each other on the line of scrimmage, the best player will win. This year, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida are all boasting top 10 recruiting classes, although Tennessee might be just outside. However, they have had two top 10 classes in recent years. Better players, an upgrade in coaches and a desire to regain dominance or at least relevance in their own conference is why this might be the SEC east’s
Coming off of back-to-back losses to Kentucky the Florida Gators didn’t have time to feel sorry for themselves. Less than 48 hours after landing in Orlando from Lexington, the team was back on a bus heading to Jacksonville and the Gators had to refocus.
Smith, who is familiar with the state of Illinois after coaching the Bears from 2004-2012 and leading Chicago to the Super Bowl in 2006, signed a six-year, $21 million contract to become the Illini’s head man. While Smith will be a head coach in college for the first time, he has previous collegiate coaching experience as a defensive assistant at Ohio State, while making stops at a few other schools. Although Illinois starting quarterback Wes Lunt is returning, the Illini need to reload on the defensive side of the ball before they can compete in the Big Ten West division.
With a new head coach comes a new offense to learn. That might be the one set back to a team with so many returning players. Offensive

In the past few years The Gators haven’t been doing so well, but this year they plan to turn things around. “ The fifth-ranked, No. 8 overall seed Gators (25-3) have not only won 20 straight matches heading into tonight's first-round contest with Alabama State (20-18) at 7 in the O'Connell Center, but are coming off a five-set win over the-No. 3 Texas in Austin last Saturday” says the article (“Florida volleyball rolling into NCAA play.”) Not only are they starting to turn things around, but they also are 8-2 just playing teams in the SEC! Hopefully The Gators can keep up this winning streak and maybe their spirit will rub off on The Gator football

With the sudden retirement of rival Oklahoma’s Bob Stoops last month, Gundy, in his 13th season and armed with a new five-year contract that pays him $4.2 million this year, is the third-longest tenured coach in the Big 12. And in building a consistent winner — Gundy is both Oklahoma State’s longest-tenured and winningest coach — the hair isn’t the only thing that’s grown.
