An ethical dilemma is defined as a moral issue, where a situation has two equivalent undesirable alternatives and neither choice will resolve the ethical predicament.

What is a moral dilemma? A moral dilemma is a man versus self conflict. It is when a character has to perform two different actions, but they can not perform both actions because it is not possible. Authors use moral dilemmas in their writings to retain the reader’s interest in the book or play and to have the reader ask questions. People often face many life altering choices such as right versus wrong or good versus bad. In The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, John Proctor chooses to die because he does not want to blacken his name throughout Salem and to ruin his sons’ names when they grow up.

In the short story ‘Gentlemen, Your Verdict’, by Michael Bruce, Lieutenant-Commander Oram was forced to make the complicated decision of saving five members of his crew, or allowing everyone to die due to a mine accident that damaged their submarine. Commander Oram made the right decision to a great extent due to there not being a way out of his situation that did not result in the death of his crew, he did not inform the 14 crew members that were to die, that they were being killed, and he spared all but one of his married crew members.

The author uses pacing throughout the story to help the reader connect to the story. In the story

When you are in a relationship, arguments or disagreements can arise. They can often trigger strong emotions that lead to hurtful words and uneasiness. If these conflicts are not resolved in a healthy way, resentment and a dissolved relationship could follow. However, when they are resolved in a proper manner, it could promote growth between the couple and fortify the bonds of their relationship (Conflict Resolution Skills).

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) would only have influence over Smackey Dog Foods, Inc. if they are a publicly listed company or if they register to become a publicly traded company. The SEC assists investors by providing reliable information to investors so they can make informed investment decisions. If Smackey Dog Foods, Inc. becomes a public company, they would need to provide financial statements along with an opinion about the financial statements by an independent public accountant along with the registration statement and subsequent financial reports (Arens, Elder, and Beasley, 2010).

An example of person vs. society in the story is when the Duvitches just moved into the little town, they were immigrants, everyone made fun of them and bullied them. The other conflict that happened was person vs. self, an example of this in the story is when Andy put the soap in the tub off water with fish, and killed them off.

Writing has many tools and devices that can be used to influence the purpose and meaning of the a piece of work. In the two pieces of work, "Private License Plate Scanners Amassing Vast Databases Open to Highest Bidders-which is written in a way that it is anti-license plate tracking- and "Who Has the Right to Track You?'-which is written to be for license plate tracking- many different tools and devices are used by the authors. These pieces of work describe the benefits and drawbacks of collecting data and tracking fellow citizens, but use different forms of pathos, ethos, and logos to portray what they are trying to say. Also, both articles state how many are opposed to this tracking, arguing that it is against the First Amendment,

In “The Most Dangerous Game”, the author, Richard Connell, slows the pace of the exposition of the book in order to create suspense. However, it doesn’t stay at the same pace the whole time. Richard speeds up certain parts of the exposition to keep the reader’s attention. For example, when the protagonist, Rainsworth, falls out of the boat, Richard shortens the scene so that it seems more shocking and sudden. This scene surprises the reader and leaves them interested in what comes next in the story. Pacing is important in suspenseful books, because it keeps the reader locked onto the story.

Throughout this book, the author uses dramatic incidents to intensify the plot. An example of this is Charlie’s sudden car accident

A moral dilemma that I had faced in my life that continue to cloud my judgement even until this is day is obedience to and how far we will let it reflect on how we let it decide how we live our life. In today 's day and age with the everyone having so many choices on how they can live our lives conflicts with our moral reasons with what is right or wrong and having to outweigh the values of our conflicts. Its makes I question authority and test on how far our obedience from authority and supervisors lays thought us. When we were little most of us were taught that by my parents what was right or wrong and how by simply having these few characteristics a person can have such as stronger, more powerful, and intelligent or just have more experience than you that they are always right.

During week one, my initial definition of learning was listening to an instruction, studying and then rehearsing that information in my mind, or categorizing it in a way so I could remember most of what was taught in the course. The class has opened a new dimension for me in the learning process; from understanding how I process information to deciphering which learning processes I use in intentional learning or metacognition. Understanding my learning patterns form dynamic learning relationship is a key element to my view of how and why I process the learning experience, even relating it to every day life.

| Person vs. Society * This story seems to be Tom against “the mob”. Tom seemed to have a different outlook compared to the other people in the square. Person vs. Self * Tom also had a minor Person vs. Self conflict because he didn’t know whether to follow the crowd or listen and follow his feelings and aspirations.
