“In an age of increasing specialization, it is rare for one person to be knowledgeable in all aspects of a complex task” (Thompson, 2015, p. 88). In this case, the first step was to understand our incoming demand. For this, I relied on information technology to generate numerous reports as well as the expertise of our sales team. It was at that point that the data was analyzed in conjunction with an inventory specialist. After we had the knowledge of what current product to inventory, we then needed to establish a set of guidelines of how to qualify products in the future. Inventory control management processes were instituted as well as a supply an auditing system. These steps included information from organizational members from our manufacturing group, planning department, and procurement department. Finally, we needed to understand and facilitate the storage and shipping of the product. We enlisted the help of our warehouse employees as well as our transportation department. Kudler Fines Foods founded in 1998 and is growing rapidly. When they open their first store, Microsoft Access was selected as the database to track inventory, orders, and customers. The products, they sold are perishable and inventory must be properly tracked. Kudler excessive inventory is always a concern. This paper will evaluate database tables from accounting perspective, provide recommendation for improvement and create pivot table to help Kudler's management to improve decision making process.
The Inventory table contains the components that make up an Item. It is used for managing inventory and determining the availability of ingredients that go into prepared items, such as bakery products, etc. Each record in the inventory table is linked to the Item table by the item_id and to the Supplier’s table by the supplier_id.
The current database provides a basic inventory system. For the new application to be a success, there are several items that need to be addressed with the current Kudler Database. For instance, Kudler needs additional tables such as Reserved Inventory table. This table will be a transaction table that will reserve the items by removing them from inventory and holding them in the reserved table until one of the following conditions is met.
The present organizational chart of the SC Department in the company includes two buyers, one material control clerk, one expeditor and two shipper/receivers. This structure was functional to the previous strategy because there was a strong focus on the purchasing function. We believe that in order to maximize the SC Department resources in accordance with the new structure the positions and functions of the people with the SC Department will have to be adapted to strengthen the inventory management function of the company. There company could benefit from having one person responsible for forecasting demand. Processes should be reviewed to ensure that the SC Department has sufficient access to information in order to achieve this task. Re-buying will also be of utmost importance now in order to ensure that there is always sufficient inventory to maintain production going.
The inventory and production departments also have issues. Currently, inventory is done by the receiving area supervisor confirming the shipping documents against incoming orders by hand. This allows for human error and is not a quick or efficient way to do inventory. The same process is used when production takes items from inventory. The inventory system is only updated once daily when new raw materials arrive and then again once daily from production when the raw material is used. The lack of tracking and checking in a timely manner leaves the organization’s processes at a higher risk of failure. The inventory system does not currently communicate with the sales or with the Finance and Accounting applications. This may lead to a
Finally, this project may also act as a catalyst to review processes that raw material delivery partners use and may produce a set of requirements for those companies that wish to do business with Riordan Manufacturing.

Data transformation was a key focus area and a fundamental cornerstone for success. One of the challenges the company faced, was streamlining inventory for thousands of parts without an existing Bill of Materials (BOM). The company needed to quickly and accurately build a list of parts to ensure optimal inventory, as it was impacting both finances and production.
