Even though Germany was left in a period of struggle and economic weakness after WW1, Adolf Hitler would take a stand by creating a party that would help refine the structure of the economy. This party, when abbreviated, was called Nazi, would also create harsh laws and unrelentless punishment. Due to the Nazi party’s quick growth, there was an immediate impact on lifestyle and politics for the people of Germany. The long term impact brought forth by the consequences or legacy of the Nazi party included a population decrease and an increase in deaths. To make both of these impacts, Hitler had to overcome many hard challenges. On April 20, 1889, Adolf Hitler entered the world, the fourth of six children. Growing up, his father …show more content…
Each difficult time led to him believing that he was standing up for the right thing. While Germany was left in a terrible depression from World War 1, their trade had been severely limited. Germany could not import or export goods. All their resources had been given to the War effort. This left Germany in a terrible way, dropping themselves from the rank of the second greatest economy. Germany began printing money at a large rate, leading to hyperinflation. Money, in turn, was worth little to nothing. Unemployment also reached record high levels. Approximately 6 million people were left unemployed. Hitler began to think like many of the racist organizations at the time, believing that the Jews were the sole reason for World War 1 and Germany’s economic …show more content…
He placed curfews, making the Jews wear the sign of David on their clothing, forcing them out of schools and other public places. Not only did Nazism effect the Jewish people, it took away from Germany anything that was produced or published from other societies. On May 10, 1933, a group of university students who had been meeting with their professors to decide which books they wanted to get rid of, took these books, formed a pile, and burned them. They wanted to eliminate foreign influence into their culture, thus keeping Germany “pure”. This prompted others to do the same. There were more than 25,000 “Un-German books burned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHzM1gXaiVo Joseph Goebbels, the Propaganda Minister stated “and the future German man will not just be a man of books, but also a man of character. And it is to this end, we want to educate you.” The book burnings of 1933 caused censorship and Nazi propaganda. Not only did the books authored by anyone other than German authors become unaccepted, music composed by others not of German descent were considered unfit to listen to as well. Jazz music, which was popular at this time was considered to be “black music” with origins coming from the southern United States. The nazis considered black citizens to be degenerate, so their music was not permitted. If the German citizens were caught listening to music deemed Anti-Nazi and subversive,

Hitler rose to power through the Nazi party. He won over the the support of the middle and lower class in Germany. This caused the Nazi party to become larger and more powerful. Due to the Great Depression, unemployment rates skyrocketed and Hitler preyed on their weakness. He gave the people hope by making economic promises, which he went on to fulfill. Conflict between the Communists and Social Democrats led to weakness in their party which made Hitler gain more power. He was appointed Chancellor of Hindenburg. Once he gained more and more power he couldn’t be stopped. Hitler worked to abolish freedom of speech and assembly after convincing the president these were emergency acts that needed to be carried out. Hitler gained even more power by having the communist party outlawed and all of its members arrested. The Reichstag was enacted which gave Hitler four years of dictatorial power. The only legal political party in Germany became the Nazi party; every aspect of life was under Nazi control. Hitler did pull Germany out of the Depression. Businesses grew and and unemployment dropped. Most of the growth came from run businesses. Hitler believed that Germans were the supreme race. All Jews, Slavs, Gypsies, Jehovah's
Around the world, national economies were tanking, the U.S., Germany, England, France, and Italy. People were becoming unemployed and were losing their homes to bank foreclosures as the cost of living was on a high rise at the time. Everyone wanted someone to blame for their problems and Hitler gave them just that. Hitler knew about the weaknesses in Germany at the time and he gave the Germans an innocent race to blame to gain power. He convinced industrialist that he alone could increase consumerism and in turn bring more production. With the increase in production Germany’s pride would begin to restore both in world standings and at home. Even
Germany’s defeat during World War 1 left the country with unstable government and uncertain people. Adolf Hitler was a man with confidence, charisma, and the ability to make friends and influence people. Hitler tried to establish a sense of community in the recovery and targeted young people, the unemployed, and members of the lower middle class. Hitler’s ability to gain followers and rise to power was a positive thing for Germany until he began using that power to convince others to take part in the Holocaust. Although Hitler was influential in the Holocaust, his intentions were to make Germany a better, brighter place. Hitler gained followers by spreading a message of hope in a positive way, substantially helped the German people out of an
Upon the rise of Adolf Hitler and the National Socialist German Workers Party (the Nazi Party) in Germany, homosexuals, were one of the various groups targeted by the Nazis and were ultimately among the Holocaust victims. Commencing in the early rule of Hitler, homosexual organizations were expelled, scholarly books about homosexuality, and sexuality in general, were destroyed, and homosexuals within the Nazi Party itself were detained or executed. The Gestapo assembled lists of homosexuals in Germany, who were obliged to sexually obey or conform to the "German norm or expectations." This is evident in direct reference to the memoirs of Pierre Seel and the atrocious suffering he endured due to his sexuality in Nazi Germany. “I, Pierre Seel, Deported Homosexual: A Memoir of Nazi Terror” provides historians with an insight into the Nazi regime and the miseries endured by the minorities of that time. This response will consider the context, content and importance of these texts, as well as the difficulties that it poses as a primary source to historians.
What or even who was accountable for Hitler’s rise to power? Many believe that there was only one contributing factor for his rise to power. Some state that Hitler could not have risen to power in any other than Germany, implying that he was nothing more than a product of German culture. From others perspective they believe that Hitler made himself dictator by means of his political genius. And yet still theirs others that profess it was the weak democratic government of the Weimar Republic or Germany’s social and economic scene in the 1930’s that made the people restless and prepared for a dictator to come to power. Hitler 's rise to power cannot be attributed to one event, but a mixture of factors including events happening outside Germany, the strengths of the Nazi party, and the weaknesses of other parties within Germany. Hitler used these factors to his advantage and in 1933 he legitimately gained power to become chancellor. One reason for his rise to power being the political and economic chaos of the 1920’s and the 1930’s joined forces with German culture that enabled Hitler to rise to power. Both play an comparable part. Hand in hand, both reasons fit together like pieces of a puzzle, to create a unique situation for Hitler’s rise.
Life for Jews in the ghettos and concatenation camps was horrible. The vast majority of ghetto inhabitants died from disease and starvation which was widespread. They were deported to killing centers and used as servants. Ghettos were also overcrowded and segregated .Living circumstances were miserable. Jews in the ghettos had to wear badges or armbands so that they could be identified. Many Jews were killed in the concentration camps. Hitler was an influential speaker and a fantastic economist. Germany was hit hard by the crash of Wall Street in the U.S. this led to worldwide hopelessness. Hitler gave people a sense of enormous conceit in their nation, inheritance and ethnic groups. Hitler’s actions caused both German militaries and inhabitants
The Holocaust is one of the most famous events in history because of how large scale the destruction was. Over a course of twelve years, Hitler and the Nazi party developed a comprehensive solution to the Jewish problem. Through a series of three solutions, Hitler and his party sought to eliminate European Jewry. Through a series of calculated actions over a decade, Hitler used political, situational, and physical violence to break down the European Jewry. In order for Hitler to win his war against the Jews, he had to break down the autonomy of the group into docile individuals where no collective could fight back. Many people who do not understand the history of the Holocaust often ask why did nobody fight back? Why was there no resistance to what was happening? Though it is absent from mainstream textbooks, the European Jewry did put up a resistance to Hitler’s war. European Jews fought back against Hitler and the Nazi party in ways that corresponded to each phase of Hitler’s Solution to the Jews. Throughout these three phases, European Jewry responded to the conditions created by the Nazi party through individual responses, organizational responses, and armed responses. Each response exhibited by European Jews is completely dependent on the social atmosphere and legal practices of the specific situation.
The streets of Germany were filled with bonfires and barbaric destruction as the Nazi Party and followers travelled around the city destroying all works going against the Nazism beliefs. Chancellor Hitler's orders to burn all Jewish books and “unGerman” ideas and on the night of May 10th, German students from universities and Nazis soldiers gathered in Berlin to burn all literature while giving the Hitler salute and chanting Nazi anthems. Thousands of titles, by writers famous, foreign or native, were toss into the flames of an ignited bonfire. The barbaric act lasted for long hours, only interrupted by Nazi songs and a supporting speech by Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels.
The 30th of January, 1933 marks the day in which Germany and to a greater extent the world was rocked forever. Why? Because the leader of the Nazis, a nationalist and socialist party was signed in as the chancellor of Germany. His name, Adolf Hitler, has grown to be recognised as one of the most hated in history to this day. How did this malicious man grasp the power of Germany? It turns out that some of the causes sprouted from some of the darkest times in German history…
Before Hitler came to power he was a power-hungry man; after he was in power he was power-sick and had no mercy towards Jews.Hitler was a leader with an iron fist who manipulated crowds of Germans, and he promised them luxurious lives and an improved country. If people are to die in the war I will not spend time on them because they did not deserve better, and if we lose than I shall not show sorrow. Towards the turn of the decade almost all of Germany was sad and melancholic. The depression was serious and millions of citizens were short of a job. When the Nazis came to power it would culminate the Weimar Republic. Following the appointment of Hitler in January 30, 1933 in the Third Reich became a regime where the Germans enjoyed no simple
During the period of 1933 to 1945, the treatment of the Jewish people by the Germans changed and was influenced by the ideals and beliefs had by the Nazi Party in power at the time. This event in history is named the Holocaust and the changes that occurred during this time will be accounted for in this report. In the lead up to 1933, the Nazi Party worked to gain the support of the German people by presenting them with the idea of a “perfect” Germany. This desirable Germany would be traditional, hard working and abolish the Republican system of government for which they believed was the source of all hardships experienced in Germany after the commencement of WW1. It was presented to the people that this “perfect” Germany could only be achieved
Army veteran Adolf Hitler was frustrated by Germany’s defeat in the World War, so he joined the political organization called the German Workers’ party in 1919. The organization had been created earlier that year by a small group of men including Karl Harrer and Anton Drexler. This party promoted anti-Semitism, German nationalism, and felt the Treaty of Versailles, which was the peace settlement that ended the war, was unjust to the Germans because it burdened them with reparations they could never pay. Hitler soon emerged as a powerful and charismatic public speaker, which allowed him to begin attracting new members to the party with speeches that forced Jews and Marxists to take the blame for Germany’s problems. He also espoused extreme nationalism, and the racist concept of an Aryan “master race.” In July 1921, Hitler took over the leadership role of the organization, which had been thereby renamed the Nationalist Socialist German Workers’ Party, also known as the memorable Nazi Party of Germany.
“One of the most important reasons for studying history is that virtually every stupid idea that is in vogue today has been tried before and proved disastrous before, time and again.” (Sowell)
One of the key events that allowed Hitler to come to power was the collapse of the German economy. Primarily due to the harsh conditions of The Treaty of Versailles the German economy was always precariously close to falling apart. It managed to survive an extreme amount of hyperinflation in the early 1920’s, wherein “money became
