Its undeniable that one of the many hot topics now a days is homosexuality/sexual orientation and like any sort of debate of any kind the first response is to clump it into a group thats commonly defined so that everyones on the same ground. The only problem with that is especially for something like sexual orientation trying to clump such a complex concept is unfair because things often get misunderstood or left out because sexual orientation is a lot more than a simple yes/no right/wrong answer.
Arguments about sexual orientation get ragingly heated. Why its such a huge issue now when its been around for centuries just goes to show that nothing is an issue until someone blows everything out of proportion. Case in point even though the

In all reality its due to a larger underlying gender bias that has gone unnoticed and is suddenly been brought back into the light. Specifically lesbians have not made nearly as much an impact as gay men because most often their affection is simply resigned to “Well they’re women.” Clearly its not as big a same-sex issue so much as it is a violation of the non-emotional-men stigma. Women holding hands or embracing is normal but men hold hands or embrace is completely scandalous and disgusting. This is something that needs to be kept in consideration before any unfair labels are placed on homosexuality. Its not as simple as we’d like to make it out to …show more content…
Love. We are to love everyone no matter what support them through trials and be there for them. Now-a-days we seem to think we get an option. People are forming teams for and against even within the christian community when really we don't have a choice. We try to figure out what verses may apply and twist the words to our advantage.. “Sometimes the Bible in the hand of one man is worse than a whisky bottle in the hand of another.” Harper Lee hit the nail on the head with this line from “To Kill A Mockingbird.” We need to spend less time trying to influence our opinion on people and show why we are right and more time actually loving them. People seem to think that by pointing out others sins they are in some way helping them what they don’t realize is that without love this is only pushing them further away. Yes, a confrontation is often necessary but we have that part down what we’re not doing is loving and thats what we need to be doing. THAT is
The Nature of Sexual Orientation - The term sexual orientation refers to the direction of one’s thoughts, feelings, and sexual interactions toward members of the same sex, the other sex, or both sexes.
People starts to think things can only be one way, when there are multiple solutions. Stereotypes are like an addiction to cocaine. You hear it is dangerous, but you still have people that do take it. Society should throw away preconceived ideas about people into a volcano and neglect gender roles in gay relationships. A successful relationship is measures in submissive and dominate roles, but in how the couple takes care of one another without a given role. A successfully relationship works when they feel there is no obligation to be a certain way. They are complete by the other partner. It is about wanting to please one another as opposed to feeling impelled to do this, be that, and act a certain way. Instead of worrying about who is paying for dinner, opening car doors, or laying jackets over water puddles, couples should worry about building a stronger relationship that is equal and has no gender role labels. Homosexual relationship and all relationships have the choose to decide on what works best for each other. In conclusion, we all have a choice to be who and what we want. Who gets to decide a person’s position in life? The answer is clearly as day. Every one of us gets to choose to be who we want to be. We should stop trying to brand gay people to have gender roles and let them be free to decide how their life should
Throughout time, the LGBT community has became a controversial topic. A topic that society usually tries to shy away from. In recent years, we have notice a tremendous transformation within this community in which, gay marriages have became legal in many states, and the LGBT community themselves are no longer shy or as the term society like to say "in the closet". More recently, this community has not only been more openly affectionate in public, they have been appearing more on T.V. With people such as RuPaul and Laverne Cox, over the last 20+ years, the dynamic of society has changed drastically, and the public has been publicizing them both in positive and negative lights.
Even before the term homosexuality was defined in the dictionary as sexual relations between people with the same gender. Psychologists, scientifics, philosophers, and religious leaders were arguing and investigating the origins of sexual orientation. Although some argue that people born gay, others have the opinion that gay people are influenced by the environment. Indeed, it is likely that today the society knows more about homosexuality, but from the earliest years BC the history shows relationships among people with different sexual traits. Meanwhile, homosexuals struggle for equality, people should stop their prejudgments and treat them as equal.
Different cultures across the world have developed various views on homosexuality. Most cultural perspectives developed from religious or humanitarian sources. Living in 21st Century America, I have personally witnessed some of the strides and struggles of GLBT (gay-lesbian-bisexual-transgender) youth. In the United States there exist laws that both promote sexual diversity and laws that restrict the complete rights of such individuals. On a more cultural than legal level, tolerance for this group of people has grown significantly. America is currently in the midst of cultural change. Nonetheless, this story does not hold true for other cultures. On one hand, the
The topic of discussion for this chapter is sexual orientation. The chapter mainly discusses the different concepts of the terms natural and unnatural, along with definitions of the terms within religion and science. I for one do not find anything wrong or unnatural about someone being LGB+. A person should not be discriminated against based solely on their sexual orientation, they are like everyone else, the only difference is they show interest in the same sex or both. Anyone who is part of the LGBT+ community should not be forced to hide who they are in fear of what others might think/do or made to feel ashamed of themselves. Within the text under the subtitle Behavior and Identity the quote “Love the sinner, hate the sin” is mentioned,
One of the biggest debates about same-sex relationships would be the legalization of same-sex marriage. There is more to same-sex marriage than politics and sexual practices. Over the last century, society has become more open minded to the gay lifestyle. Because we live in a great country bounded by the moralities of freedom, in which we are constitutionally promised justice and the pursuit of happiness -- each person reserves the rights to
One evening, my father came home earlier than usual from his 12-hour shift as a cook. He rushed through our bathroom supplies and hurried outside to the back shed. I noticed he had wrapped one of his fingers in napkins. When I asked him what had happened in Cantonese, he brushed it off as if it was nothing. My older sister tried to confront him, but he angrily told us to not worry about it. My mother then pulled us aside and whispered to us that he had accidentally cut off a piece of his finger.
Many people will asked themselves what is sexual orientation? I remember the first time someone asked me on a questionnaire what was my sexual orientation, I did not know what it meant, and I thought it had to do with my sexuality. The book gay, straight and reason why by neuroanatomist Simon leVay claimed that INAH3 nucleus size which is found in the brains of the homosexuals who died from AIDS in the 1980’s comparing it with straight men who died from other causes. Also there are reasons for being born gay. According to the author leVay, sexual orientation, refers to the sex a person prefers to be, feeling attraction for
When analyzing sexuality forms with various position in political spectrum, what comes to mind is Homophobia, the LGBT and Sodomy laws. Sexual orientation is an enduring emotional, romantic, sexual or affectional attraction to another person.. People are fight for what they believe in and one way to fight is by going to the government and changing the laws. When politics decides what is right and wrong in people personal lives, people get offended by and fight for what they believe in, it is true that they love in a different way, but who has the right to tell them that two men or two women can be in love and have a family. God tell us not to judge and he will be the only one to judge when that day comes.
For the past years people have been having arguments about so many things and one of their “Problems” is Homosexual people, and that is one big problem in the medical field while adoption is another problem in the medical field and regular daily basic life. There are people who mostly/are against it than people who aren’t at all, People who are against the two topic is because maybe it has something to do with what they believe or they just are raced like that, people who may not be against it are probably because they are one of them and they think is wrong for not accepting something that are not doing any harm to them.
Homosexuality is the current controversial issue that has hit the media. One cannot avoid the topic of homosexuality in the news, movies, books, social media, newspapers, and even in politics. Homosexuality has become a controversial issue around the globe today. After Uganda outlawed homosexuality in its country, the topic has been trending everywhere in the mainstream media, and the social media. Some nations like the US have legalized homosexuality and this is why there has been uproar after the president of Uganda signed a bill in parliament outlawing homosexuality. The media has always been blamed of being bias while reporting on gay marriages and homosexuality. The homosexuality group is a minority group that is always viewed very different by the society. Many forms of media are used to address these topic namely; the social media, television, newspapers, and magazines.
Because of this discomfort, there has been protests and laws set to abide with homosexual relationships and marriage. The status quo would go against any gay activity. Homosexuals are trying to fight for gay rights. Some states in the US has already legalized gay marriage. Some religions perceive gay activity as a sin which causes another boundary of uncomfort between religious individuals and homosexuals. Many groups are angered about the decisions of gay
The argument about homosexuality is not really an argument or a controversy anymore to some. Seeing that it already has been legalized there is nothing really that we can do to change that for the most part. But there is something that we can do to let people know what is right and what is wrong. Even though gay marriage may be legal now, it is a choice whether or not to partake in it. The issue now is that people are not born “that way”. No one is born gay, we are all naturally born straight and it is a choice people make is to whether to be gay or bisexual. Writer Matt Slick with Carm.org or the Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry states,
In our generation today, homosexuals have been widely accepted by the majority may it be a gay or a lesbian. People have come to recognize the existence of the "third sex" and through time they have also accepted “same-sex relationships" in our society. But controversies and
