One of the most influential people in my life thus far has taught me an immeasurable amount about values, morals, and positive character traits. When I first had the privilege to meet this person, I knew him as Drill Sergeant Oakes. Hence the title he had earned, this was not an enjoyable moment of my life. However, I could already assume that he was going to be a great mentor for me. He was my Drill Sergeant throughout Army Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training. He then took me and a few of my peers with him to his next duty station, my first, Germany. There, we trained for six months for a deployment. Our unit was deployed to Iraq for the duration of one year. During this time, my mentor became the First Sergeant of our company.
One of the most memorable moments I had while deployed occurred after my team and I were blown up in our truck by a roadside bomb while heading back to camp one day. No one

We are living in a world where selfishness seems to be the rule of the day, and personal gain the objective of most relationships and endeavors. One of the most honorable character traits a person can develop is the ability to be loyal. When one is loyal, it means that they are dedicated to something or someone and they offer all their support. Loyalty plays a significant role in maintaining any form of relationship.
Duty means a moral or legal obligation to perform an act or task. Without the obligatory feeling, there is no sense of duty. For example, many men and women feel they are completing a duty owed to their country by joining the armed forces. They feel the responsibility to enlist because of moral or philosophical reasons. For them, enlisting fulfills this feeling of duty. However, if someone enlists solely to help pay for college, they are not accomplishing a duty of theirs, since they do not feel the obligatory
Loyalty is trait that every person in the world should have. An example of loyalty is when
Honor and loyalty are the most important personal traits of a person, but it can also be the opposite depending how it is expressed. Honor means you keep your word , no matter what. It also means you do what is best for yourself and others around you. When somebody is honorable to you, you respect them , and trust them. Honorable people are also normally known as responsible and likable. In some cases, people think they are doing what is honorable, but really they are not.
To begin with, it’s important to be loyal while being an adult. Why is that so? It’s because no one would trust you and no one would believe you and want you with them. Loyalty means
Loyalty is heroic. Loyalty is defined as faithfulness or devotion to a person, cause, obligations, or duties. In Homer's Odyssey one can see loyalty in many forms. Odysseus is loyal to the gods whom he realized held his life in their hands. Penelope was loyal to Odysseus, while trying not to offend the rude suitors. Telemachus was loyal to a father whom he only knew from the stories he had been told. Time and time again we see loyalty in the strongest sense, complete fidelity in time of uncertainty.
Duty to me is accomplishing a task that needs to be done regardless the motivation you have, how sick your feelin or how long of a ruck march you had this morning. Whether you love it or hate it the task is there to be done. If one does not fulfill their duties on a regular basis, then those around them have to pick up the slack, and any sense of loyalty begins to become tarnished duty and loyalty are intertwined in private first class Ansons eyes. like i said in the last paragraph when talking about loyalty in order to attain loyalty there are duties that must be completed inorder to seem loyal to another soldier or friend.
Loyalty has always been seen as a commendable trait, not only in human beings but in any creature, all through history. Soldiers have admired their enemies for their loyalty to fallen comrades, thousands of stories have been written about the intense loyalty animals portray for their owners, and even companies in the workforce look for loyalty in potential employees. Loyalty has been seen as something that distinguishes the trustworthy from the untrustworthy, and something that sets the great apart from the good. The archetypal hero commonly has a cause, whether it be another person or personal beliefs, that they are loyal to, and this unwavering loyalty is what makes them appear so highly in the eyes of the reader. Loyalty can be found in practically any work of literature, but within The Torah, The Odyssey, and Inanna is the idea that true loyalty, although a rare attribute, is the key to a successful relationship.
In our society today, loyalty is a trait that is valued by many, despite its relative weakness compared to betrayal. This is because many will remember the times when they were betrayed, yet will only remember a handful of times
Loyalty is perhaps the most important characteristic a person can possess. Loyalty is defined by Google as “giving or showing firm and constant support or allegiance to a person or institution.” In the books Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight by Stone , this definition is exploited both in a positive and negative way. In Romeo and Juliet loyalty is a characteristic that both characters acquire along their journey and it has an ennobling effect on them. While in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight , Sir Gawain is displayed as being a loyal man, but then he becomes perfidious because of his selfish way and it cost him his respect and nobleness.
Duty is one of the values outlined the Army values. In my opinion it is one of the most important of all of them. It is very important but without the other values, Duty by itself cannot assist in accomplishing the mission. We still have the other values like leadership, respect, selfless service, honesty, integrity, and personal courage. These all set up the framework for us to be able to accomplish or duty as soldiers. All of them work hand in hand with each other. Duty is defined in Webster’s dictionary as, “obligatory tasks, conduct, service or functions that arise from ones position.” It is one of the primary values in the Army today. Duty is the reason while we get up every day and prepare to and defend the United States of America with
Honesty. – Honesty is most important to someone who is seeking the characteristic of loyalty. One who is dishonest, is not a loyal person. To be loyal, you must be entrusted to tell the truth and nothing but the truth at all times.
Duty requires a willingness to accept full responsibility for your actions and for your subordinate's performance. It also requires a leader to take the initiative and anticipate requirements based on the situation. Duty means accomplishing all assigned tasks to the best of your ability. The proper and faithful performance of duty is the standard. The value and efficiency of the soldier is measured, and the measure of his efficiency and value is not determined by the prominence of the duty which he performs.
When many people think of loyalty they forget the fact that you can be loyal to yourself. I think the most important parts to staying loyal to self are staying true to self and doing what you believe is right. An example of this would be if you are getting peer pressured by your peers to smoke, there are several choices you can make. You can smoke just to gain popularity by that group of people and destroy your health or refuse and report to the counselor. A person who is loyal to self will obviously pick the second option by doing this they will stay true to self, do the right thing and stand up to peer pressure.
To have a sense of duty means that we should act from respect for the moral law (Mackinnon, 2009). Moral laws are what I believe to be ones duty to tell the truth, keep promises, and treat others how you expect to be treated. To me when I think about what it means to act out of a sense of duty I think of a truly genuine human being. Someone who holds traits of being selfless, generous, kind, and full of compassion. Those type of people are the ones who act out of a sense of duty, they are the people who choose to go out their way to help others even when it isn’t in their job description, when they won’t be getting paid for it, or even when it doesn’t benefit them at all. Many people were using the example of helping an elderly person cross
According to Dictionary.com, loyalty means, “The state or quality of being loyal; faithful to commitments or obligation”. A person from the Bible who is loyal is Moses . I person who is loyal who is non-biblical is Mother Theresa. These are people whose show loyalty.
