The Internet influenced the United States more than anything else in the 20th century. The Internet first technically started in 1969, when the U.S. Defense Department’s Advanced Research Projects Agency or ARPA connected networks at the University of California and the Stanford Research Institute (SRI). From there, just three years later the creation of the Email was born by Ray Tomlinson of BBN. With many other novelties of the Internet coming soon after, such as the Domain Name System (DNS) establishing .edu and .com, and the first web browser, World Wide Web by CERN. As the Internet flourished in the late 1990s it became more usable to the public and soon became routine to use, making great changes in society. The Internet was integrated …show more content…

The World Wide Web had revitalized education by making it easier, and more efficient to teach. Before the creation of the Internet, the most popular and widely used way of teaching was mainly with books and lectures, limiting the speed and efficiency of information to learn, while also limiting the number of units given in a school year. With the Internet, teachers were able to discover and teach topics easily, leading to quicker lessons and topics as they use the web browser and online sources to benefit the speed of the lessons as well as better the students in different ways to educate. In addition to teachers using the Internet, students also greatly used it to help with homework, to fully understand a topic, to help with projects, and to communicate with their teachers. In a study from Pew Internet & American Life Project over students and their interaction with the

According to their record, “ the increased popularity of pagers and the Internet helped raise employment levels, ” also helping create over a million careers in computer and data processing, making it the second highest growing industry from 1989 and 1999. By creating over a million jobs, helping productivity, and allowing businesses to spread advertisements over the world, the Internet has positively influenced the way business is conducted and helped the United States in its
The internet has changed the world as we knew it. The world no longer communicates, does business, or perches commodities in the same a traditional way. E-mail, instant massager and chat rooms were the first innovations to be used by the public. As time went on more and more people depended on the internet to communicate with each other. It did not take long for the U.S. Postal service to see the decline in mailed letters. With the internet being so easy to access and email being so easy to use it quickly became the preferred way to communicate with family and friends over long distances. Companies soon followed suit to better serve their clients.
There is no question that the Internet is by far one of the greatest inventions of all time. The internet has allowed us to connect with other across the world and research information on a wide range of subjects and topics, whether scholarly or just for entertainment. Without the Internet, it can be argued that we would be nowhere near as advanced as we are today technologically wise. Even though the Internet has presented us with many positives, they are people who use it to negatively affect others. Online harassment has been a gradually increasing issue for years and is now more present than ever before. With technology and the Internet constantly advancing, online harassment is becoming more sophisticated than it has in recent years. If we go back a few years ago, online harassment was just simply cyber-bullying. People teased and made fun of other people through social media outlets, emails, etc. Now online harassment has advanced to people hacking others social media accounts for their personal phone numbers and emails. The fact of the matter is that now actions online can now affect real life aspects.
The Internet has penetrated into every corner of people’s daily lives, it seems that almost all people can not leave the Internet. The reason is that It is convenient to search and send message online, in this way, people’s work is more efficient. Although the Internet had a lot of helpful and positive impacts on people’s life, the negative influences of Internet have been brought into focus and that has resulted in mobile phone dependence, video game addiction and internet violence.
Businesses are discovering the Internet as the most powerful and cost effective tool in history. The Net provides a faster, more efficient way to work colleagues, customers, vendors and business partners- irrespective of location or operating system harnessing this powerful resource gives companies strategic advantages by leveraging information into essential business asset. The "technology of the future" here today. This is a fact. Businesses making the transition will, and are prospering; however those that do not will most certainly suffer the consequences.
During the time period under discussion from the Regan Revolution to our current President Obama, one major historical turning point was the creation of the Internet. This vast network of linked computers that allowed information to be shared easily and instantly, propelled the information technology of personal computers and cell phones forward at high speed. (Schultz, 2011) The ways that the Internet has changed life in the United States over the past two decades is vast. The economy has widely changed in this new age of technology, American companies reached overseas
The internet and technology have been continually transforming the development of educators. In this age, the internet and technology are useful resources in the classroom. These resources allow for teachers to apply new ideas into the classroom, which allows for teachers to evaluate and analyze the impact of these resources. Like printed media and magazines, sources found on the internet have pros and cons. The effectiveness of the resources on the internet can vary depending on the needs of the user. It is important to look at a website in depth in order to judge the effectiveness of the website. Teachers, like students, need to learn and grow from their experiences, that is why it is important to check the effectiveness of a source before it is used in the class. Having access to so many websites
The internet, a new form of communication between computers developed by the military in the 1980s, would have an unprecedented effect on business. During the 90s, business old and new began to make their appearance on the internet. Although, at first, it was a new and dangerous medium, causing many businesses to fail in the Dotcom bubble, the internet caused business and economy to flourish for years to come. US investment in the internet and computers helped it gain much economic power in the 90s and 2000s, leaving other nations who neglected their potential in the

Microsoft, Intel, Apple and Google have brought internet reach to around 3 Billion people. The following chart shows the expansion of internet during the following years.
What was to ultimately turned out to be known as The Internet' was developed in the 1960s through funding by the US military so as to discover a means of making possible communication in the event of nuclear conflict . Until the beginning of 1990s, though, the Internet was the sphere of influence of academics as well as researchers as commercial use was proscribed. A process of commercialization began in the late 1980s and the wider use this encouraged was to be given an additional heightening with the emergence of the World Wide Web in the beginning of 1990s. The progress of browsers in the early 1990s which facilitated web pages to be viewed in a graphical format in color after that brought the benefits of the Internet to a wider
When media and technology are integrated into the school system, learning is greatly enhanced because the internet allows an easy way to spark the interest of students and make teaching and learning more effective; these tools also provide access to assignments and lessons outside of the classroom and supply students with new learning opportunities. The use of media and technology in the classroom is an extremely useful and effective way to strengthen the learning process in schools. The internet can
Chances are you know someone right now that was alive before the internet was even in the works. In just thirty four years the internet has advanced further than anyone ever expected it to. The internet is everywhere and being in things such as computers, phones, tablets, televisions and many other pieces of technology, it has an endless amount of uses. Before the internet, news would not travel as fast and less things were known about the world and the people in it. During the early age of the computer, computers were expensive to produce and operate, and were separated by distance and purpose, forcing a single person who wanted to access multiple functions and information to physically travel to a site where multiple computers were located. The internet which in its early stage was known as ARPANET was created by the US Department of Defenses Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA). The concept of ARPANET was first thought of in 1962 when a man by the name of J.C.R. Licklider who attended MIT wrote a series of memos in August 1962 discussing his "Galactic Network" concept. He imagined a world wide system, all of which was connected by computers where everyone could quickly access data and programs from any site at any time. His idea very was much like the Internet of the world we live in now. Licklider was the first head of the computer research program at ARPA, starting in October 1962. While at ARPA he convinced his successors, Bob Taylor,
The Internet changed our life enormously, there is no doubt about that. There are many advantages of the Internet that show you the importance of this new medium. What I want
The internet has also seen new markets for jobs appear [3]"over the last decade or so the Internet has created 1.2 million jobs, many paying higher salaries than average." because of the new developments there are more people needed to perform research maintain and manage these areas of the internet.
The Internet which is associated with Information Technology (IT), have been widely recognised as one of the most important international marketing tool around the world for the past decade. As Li and Ye (1999) highlighted, the Internet has provided a strategic resource that may support firms in achieving operational efficiency and functionality for operations that are done internationally. Advanced Research Projects Agency NETWORK was commissioned by the US Department of Defence (ARPANET) was started in 1969, currently known as the Internet, was an experimental network aimed to link university computer centres throughout the U.S. UCLA was the first node to be established with the follow ups of Stanford Research Institute, UCSB (Santa Barbara) and University of Utah (Netvalley 2004). ARPANET was then divided into MILNET (MILitary NETwork), used primarily for government and military purposes, and NSFNET (National Science Foundation NETwork), used to support education and research in the 1980s (Pallab, 1996). Consequently in 1989, the World Wide Web (WWW), an interactive graphical communications channel that transmit specially formatted documents in digital form through a system of internet servers. Was invented by Tim Berners- Lee at the European Centre for a Nuclear Research (Cern) and is probably the most important development to date for the Internet (Samiee 1998; Webopedia 2004).
