As an individual who has witnessed family friends of immigrants that came to this country over 20 years ago in hope of a better future. I understand why so many immigrants are willing to cross a border so dangerous and treacherous to reach a country that is called the land of opportunities. What we call The Unites States of America the land of the free. An average of 2,700 illegal immigrants are willing to cross the border each day leaving there families and risking their own life's to cross to the US. Mostly in the news we tend to hear only the superficial fact but never the real facts or the stories of the capture immigrants. If we would just take time to listen to the real stories of what I called the unforgotten children and women. We …show more content…
Many are single mothers that are not able to feed their kids and they look up north for hope. Is this the cost women should have to make in other to have a chance at freedom or a better future? Many immigrants’ women have to sell their bodies to pay the coyotes that cross them over to the U. S. and the ones that refuse we can find their bodies in a ditch unrecognizable. All that is left is a cross with an empty name. The economy in their countries is so bad that many immigrant/individuals are willing to risk their life to give better future to their families. Immigrants are individuals who are trying to improve their life styles for their families within the economy, escape prosecution of gangs, and looking for more in their future. Everyone should have a chance to stay in the United States of America since we are all immigrants. We all travel from all different countries to make the U.S. what is today. Immigrants are not just people trying to take jobs like many say or criminals that the news makes it seem. Each individual has a story to tell. Some are just like you and me or children that are like our little brothers or sisters. Some are women and men like our mothers and fathers that give their life for the best of their
Many people have come to America for a better life and to get away from all the troubles of their homeland. These immigrants, like those throughout U.S. history, are generally hard workers and make important contributions to the economy through their productive labor and purchasing power. America is considered a melting pot of many diffrent ethinic group. Immigrants should be able to enter America with little if any resistance from any border patrol. Immigrants in america take the low paying, hard labor jobs that , unfortunately, some americans don't want.
Good evening.Today I would like to talk about Mexican American.Actually,we all know that the US
I will start my presentation with a depiction of what legal and illegal immigration encompass. After, I will talk about the impacts of immigration on America. I will finalize my presentation with the current government actions that are changing the immigration system.
Once immigrants arrive in America, they face having to live in fear of being deported. Over 72,000 immigrants with children were deported in 2013, according to reports confirmed by ICE. In a book I read, Enrique's journey, Enrique was almost deported back to Central America after living for years with his family in America. His daughter had to visit him in jail and wonder if he would be there the next day. It is not our place to split up immigrant families, the so called American Dream is the promise that everyone will be treated equally, regardless of social class or birthplace.
People who are illegal immigrants, travel distances and cross borders to seek a better life while they are desperately looking for a better opportunities, they are also running away from famine, wars or violence from their homeland. For example, Mexico and most central and South America countries unfortunately have a poor economic, environmental and life is not easy to live there. These countries also still engaged in a war with various reasons. Especially; Mexican drug cartels which kills more than 80,000 people in every year. Therefore, United States being the main country that so many immigrants attract as they try to cross the border illegally. As they looking a place that provides freedom of speech and religion, steady jobs, a safe environment, and benefits for the poor and unemployed. It has become a home for many of them. “In 2012, the population of immigrants in the United States illegally is estimated to 11.43 million, rough 3.7% of the entire US population. 59% of the immigrants in the country illegally are from Mexico”. 25% of all the immigrants in the country are illegally reside in California State. As the crossing the border and the journey is hard, in 2008, 53% out of all the immigrants are males which are younger than 40 years old. Some people believes that this people deserve a chance because most of them come with a good intentions. Specifically, they just want jobs where they can get decently paid so they can support them self and their family back home.
Immigration can be seen as an important role to maintain diversity and a steady economy in many countries, including the United States. However, while people are trying to immigrate to locations where they would get better opportunities for themselves and their families, they are instead being greeted by death or closed doors, caused by awful conditions when trying to cross the border or the inability to gain access to a country with better opportunities. Immigrants are forced to cross illegally to improve their and their family’s lives due to the difficulty of attaining citizenship or visa; millions of families have been separated and they have to live not knowing what has happened to their loved ones. The trauma of an incident like this can impact someone’s life forever, and in order to ensure people’s safety and wellbeing, everyone should have a real chance to gain citizenship, disregarding their country of origin. The path to citizenship should be made easier and more inclusive so that people who are searching for opportunities are given the chance to improve their lives.
I still remember when I met you. That prideful charisma you always carried. How can someone remain so confident being a Mexican immigrant during Trump's election? I often asked myself before I knew your story, before I knew what you had been through.
Immigrants Come to America seeking a free world unlike their home where they have to choose between paying rent or buying food. They come to America hoping to find freedom, but all we do is kick them back out. I say we take steps to get them to legally come over to the U.S without having to hide in the U.S not knowing if they’re going to get deported or not.
Raul Galvan came to the Stevens Point campus to talk to the students about immigration. He is an immigrant himself and he came to America, just like everyone else, for a better life. He now is an avid speaker for the Latino community. He travels around the state educating people on the Latino lifestyle as well as the struggles they face.
Immigration to begin with can be defined as a person traveling from one country to another for various reasons. There are two main reasons however which create two distinct types of immigrants. Those immigrating for economical reasons and those immigrating because of danger to their lives. Although the spectrum for these two types of immigrants is very distinct, they are both of high importance and it is crucial to understand both of their struggles. Doing so will allow for a better understanding of what an immigration policy should and shouldn't
Our country is supposed to be one about opportunity, neglecting to provide an equal chance for these children to learn would contradict the notion that America is the land of opportunity.
I still insist that these standard responses are harsh being that these women came into the U.S. to keep their kids safe and to flee from their violent and dangerous hometowns. Because as recent research has shown, “In the eyes of their advocates, they are families and workers, taking the jobs nobody else wants, staying out of trouble, here only to earn their way to better, safer lives for themselves and their children.” (Davis, Patel & Yee). These women do not come into the country for free they pay their taxes and property taxes the same as American
I believe that illegal immigrants should be given the chance to be here legally. Many families are torn apart because of deportation. Some mothers have been forced to leave their kids alone here. This could end up with the kids in the foster system if they have no family here. I’ve heard many stories of how hard it is for people to cross the border. All they want is a better future. That is what America was built on. Immigrants coming here and looking for a better future. So why should we not help those who want a better future? In stories that I have heard, the husband is the first one to cross the border. He will find a job and send the money to his family back home. After he has a stable job in the US, his wife will then cross the border too. Sometimes they will bring their kids with them, and other times the kids are left behind as crossing the border is not easy. Many families will keep sending money back to their parents in order to help them. When you turn the TV on immigration

When you do see news about immigration it is mainly about deportation. When people are deported, they are taken away from their families and sent back to their native country. Sometimes the mother will have to leave her kids here and not see them for years. Other times it’s the father who is usually the only one who works. We can’t keep tearing families apart. Immigrants help this nation in many ways, but a lot of
Illegal immigration can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. Millions of illegal immigrants have come across the Mexico border in recent years. Even though these people aren’t documented, majority are good law-abiding people that help the economy with production and putting more money into the economy. The problem is that the Government doesn’t know who these people are and can be enemies of the United States. But it isn’t just Mexican immigrants traveling through the deserts of Mexico to reach America. Here is a story of a fourteen year old girl named Josseline Quinteros. Her mother was an undocumented immigrant working in Los Angeles and over the years she saved up enough money to pay a “coyote” ( smuggler guide), to bring Josseline and her 10 year old brother up from El Salvador through Mexico into Arizona then out to L.A in 2008. After the group she was with crossed the border into southern Arizona they began travelling through the Tumacacori wilderness where Josseline fell ill. She told her younger brother to keep on going to find mom, the coyote decided to leave her in the desert and the group moved on. The young boy went on to find their mother, but Josseline was later discovered deceased. She was one of 183 migrants that died in southern Arizona in 2008. This Government funded program named Program Safety Net will help single mothers and their children crossing the Mexican border.
