Joining the HLLC Community will be a dream come through because it will give me the opportunity to achieve my dreams while pursuing my education. I would utilize the HLLC Community to address a social issue that I am very passionate about. Through HLLC, I would use community service, networking, voluntary services, etc. to bring awareness to the high cost of education in the country. I am fervid about education because with education, one can be able to elevate themselves. Everyone, irrespective of who they are should have access to any form of education. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The high cost of education today is disheartening. The amount of college dropout has increased. Certain societal issues such as unemployment, depression,
Receiving a LULAC education scholarship will help me achieve my goal of attending my dream school, Loyola Chicago University and receiving my bachelors degree in biochemistry that would assist me in pursuing a medical career as a doctor. My career vision is to one day become a doctor working in a children's hospital. I have decided to attain a career as a doctor because I have a passion to help others while also continuing my passion for science. Going to college and majoring in biochemistry will give me a deeper understanding for what is to come while opening many more opportunities for me.
I would like to be a part of JUMP because I want to take advantage of all the opportunities that are available to me as I begin my journey to become an orthopedic surgeon. As the first child in my family to go to college, I'm a little unsure about how to transition from high school to college as well as how to go about achieving my career plans. I believe that as a JUMP Scholar, I will most benefit from the Peer Mentoring programs, the one-on-one meetings with my JUMP advisor, the meetings with my Pre-Health advisor, and the career orientated events. I believe that as a JUMP Scholar, I will be able to gain insight and advice from those around me and they'll be able to do the same with me.
Hello, I am Qwontanney Major, a lover of music, old and current, photography, film, fashion, and food. I am 19 years old, and the second oldest of five children. We were all raised by my mother, and recently reconnected with our father. My family on my mothers’ side comes from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and Port-au-Prince Delmas 36, Haiti, and my family on my fathers’ side comes from Freeport, Bahamas.
I plan to attend California State University, Long Beach this fall and hope to get my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Volunteering in my community throughout high school has allowed me to meet and help many different people and made me realize how important it is to give back to my community. This has inspired me to continue my education and to open my very own medical clinic
The HLLC community not only provides students with accommodations of residential living but it rewards students with the opportunity to enhance their leadership capabilities and teamwork talents. By being a member of the HLLC community I will be guided as student but shaped into a student leader. I will be able to learn about the right ways of approaching and bringing awareness to social issues, An example in which would be my passion to increase cleanliness and education around the globe. I once saw a documentary entitle “On my way to school”, it featured 6 children and their daily difficulties. They lived in an areas filled with filth, but were happy and thankful to at least have a roof over their heads. These kids would also have to
I’m interested in becoming a Link Unlimited Scholar, in light of the things they have to offer in helping me become a better student and person. Nevertheless, they are academically and mentally preparing us for high school and also how to excel in college. I never had an opportunity to do anything like Link Unlimited Scholar. I like to try new things that helps and challenges me on things I don’t know to make me a better person. Becoming a Link Unlimited Scholar is beneficial for me and everyone else in so many ways, as far as reaching our goals and dreams. Having this opportunity will give us a chance to gain control in lives. With this life experience I can share my opportunity within the community and, although I would have a mentor I’m
I believe in the value of an education and that everyone should have access to it. I was fortunate enough to have parents who strongly believed in my dreams and encouraged me to pursue them as well as support them. During my college experience, my sorority has encouraged me to participate in philanthropic activities and I want to continue giving back to my community as a post-graduate. On of the main philanthropies my sorority focused on was CASA, which gives voices to children who were handed unfair circumstances in life. Due to the rising poverty levels in America, not every child has the means to pursue the education they deserve. I believe that an education has the ability to change someone's life and am extremely passionate about learning.
I feel your program can help me grow academically. Also help me grow as a person. My family, my children are what keep me going, because I want nothing but the best for them. To give them the best I most stay in school and graduate with a degree. But also to let my kids know you don’t have to stop there.
Becoming a Link Unlimited Scholar will be a wonderful opportunity for me as well as my child, since this will be a first time experience. I like to be opened minded to new things that’s going to better me, and my child and that’s going to put a positive out-look on life. Reading more into their program I’ve learned a variety of things that is offered inside the program. They offer support mentally to students by getting them prepared for the future. Providing a support system with a one on one mentor will help the students to succeed in life and, especially if the child has a hard time opening up to their parents. Having a mentor to look up to when they don’t have no one else to guide them on the right path. This program is beneficial to help
I have a specific plan for my career after leaving education. I would take up the job as a human resource officer.
There are few goals that I want to achieve. First of all, I would become one of the volunteer in Chinese American Planning Council to help clean up the mess in NYC. Nowadays, there are a few workers who work for cleanness of environment because people thought this job is dirty and low pay. This results in a lack of workers, so it is harder for these people to clean up the city. Once I join this organization, I will work during my free time and help these workers to clean up our city including areas like parks for these fallen leaves, animal waste, cans, and rotting food. In addition, during my research about how school lunch will affect students’ performance, I realize that a lot of students and parents do not realize the importance of school lunch and some of them do not even care because they don’t think it is affecting them. However, after they realize the importance of school lunch and how school lunch will affect students’ performance and health , they become eager to solve the problem. Thus, my second goal will be while I am cleaning up, I will give flyers to people who live in the neighborhood and teach them that
The pioneers Lewis & Clark embodied everything I aim to be. I have a strong desire to be a trailblazer - a leader. I come from an extremely conservative high school, and it’s quite difficult relating to my classmates. Attending a college with a liberal student body had been a dream of mine ever since I found out about feminism. I am a proud feminist, and a goal of mine is to become an activist. I believe I would be a great fit at Lewis & Clark because I will be around like-minded people. Also, as a Black female, I would love to add to the growing pool of multicultural students at Lewis & Clark.
I want to be involved in PSAC so I can help the student experience by creating a more spirited student body and bring together the diverse community we have at Hinsdale South. I believe we should create more events to help school spirit such as Holi Days, as it brings in culture and it can be such a great event if our student body came together. Through PSAC, I can provide original ideas for our Principal so we make this year and following years a memorable experience for students and staff at Hinsdale South.
I would want to be a participant in the AAC because I think it is a great way to receive help and advice. As a first generation student, I do not know much about college and how everything works. AAC is a great way to help me be more prepared for my classes and to receive support because my family can help me so much but they are not knowledgeable on college and what to expect, but I know that this program can help me view things better and learn more about a subject. This first semester of college was a bit difficult because it was my first year and I did not know much about how things worked. I feel like I was not as prepared as I wanted to be on some subjects and felt that I couldn't really reach out to other because they might not know
I see community service as the key element to my future. I believe that each person should leave the world a little better than how they found it. Community service has held a huge part of my life already. I currently am very involved with a program called Candlelighters. Candlelighters is a program that works with cancer patients and their families. As a part of the Candlelighters program I have seen many children lose their lives to cancer. Each child has left a mark on my heart, and I am a better person for knowing them.
