Places with hard living conditions for humans are becoming popular destinations for travelers all over the world. While visiting these locations can bring some advantages for the visitors, there can be some disadvantages too. Foremost among the benefits is perhaps the sheer experience of getting outside of someone’s comfort zone and embarking on an adventurous journey which few men would have the courage to even think about. Nowadays people, especially the younger generation, are seeking exciting activities which may be dangerous, such as mountain climbing, and these difficult journeys seem to be a favorable option for adrenaline-junkies. Furthermore, it must be said that due to the severe living conditions of these locations, the natural

I am writing to you today regarding the recent outbreaks of Hepatitis A Virus (HAV) and the importance of hand washing. As you might know San Diego and Santa Cruz Counties are now experiencing outbreak epidemics, and our own county of Los Angeles declared a week ago, its own HAV outbreak.
I truly believe that if you can approach and tackle an issue before it arises you have a better chance of preventing long-term issues that will emerge in the future. Through my studies I have learned that if you educate students on bad choice making and the consequences that come from it you have a better chance for those students not to make those bad decisions. For this Midterm Project I plan to target high school students and inform them about drug use and abuse. In my opinion I think that if we teach high school students the effects that drugs can have on your body and your future maybe we can prevent them from using drugs for the first time or stop the issue before it gets out of hand. Students who are in high school can be hard to talk to but if you use material and language that catches their attention your speech can very influential to them. I want to prevent teens from using drugs. I want and need them to be educated on all the harms that illegal substances do to your body immediately after using them and what long-term effects come with it as well. Students should be shown real life examples of citizens who have lived their lives influenced by drugs and examples of successful people who have chose a
Crack cocaine, aka benzoylmethylecgonine, is one of the most addicting and deadly drugs. It has many negative effects on the body, especially the nervous system. The effects on the user are usually long-lasting and irreversible. It is classified as a stimulant drug, meaning that it excites any bodily function. Stimulants usually target more of the brain and nervous system, which can cause higher alertness, an elevated mood, wakefulness, increased speech and motor activity and a decrease in appetite. Crack cocaine has many nicknames, which includes crack, snow coke, nose candy, and stardust. Crack cocaine can be used in various ways, for example it could be snorted with its original white powder, smoked, or injected directly into the bloodstream. It is mainly snorted so it can be absorbed fast by the nasal tissues. When people smoke crack, it gets inhaled into the lungs, just as quick as getting it injected directly into your vein. The main
What does drug addiction mean to you? Did you know nearly 90 percent of first time heroin users in the past decade were white, middle-class, or wealthy people? Centers for Disease Control (CDC) found significant increases in heroin use were found in groups with historically low rates of heroin use, including women and people with private insurance and higher incomes. Heroin deaths have surged mostly among caucasians in the suburbs and small towns.
Heroin is a highly addictive illegal drug that kills users and destroys lives. It is tearing apart communities, ripping up families and ruining millions of lives. About 4.2 million Americans around the age of 12 or older have tried heroin at least once while some have become addicted for life. Heroin is the most dangerous drug in America today because of its harmful effects, widespread use, easily availability, low cost and the high that comes with using this drug.
Substance use disorders are relevant to the adolescent development. Abu-Shakra and Cox (2014) describe the pathway by which substance use disorder is effected by externalizing behaviours. Externalizing behaviours include impulsive or aggressive behavers. Many studies contribute to this discourse. In this paper, I will summarize the chapter provided by Abu-Shakra and Cox (2014) and will mention other studies that add to the discourse.
In the year 1953, late May, two climbers finally reached the summit of their expeditions. Edmund Hillary and Tensing Norgay gazed down from the tallest summit on earth at the valleys surrounding them and sighed a breath of relief, as they were the first people to ever ascend the beast known as Everest. 46 years later Jon Krakauer’s book “Into Thin Air” tells of the harrowing and demanding road to the peak of Everest. I bet you are probably thinking what would prompt these smart men and women to put themselves into such a hard and narrowly survivable situation. In this paper we will go over a couple of the reasons that causes people to climb Everest. First personal achievement, Secondly glory and fame, and Third Adrenaline rush or The pull

Over the years substance abuse has been on the rise with many people falling victims. This paper concentrates on substance abuse and addictive disorders in the African American population. When it comes to the scope of the problem regarding the extent to which it affects the people, depression, poverty, and stress is closely connected to alcohol abuse and appears to be the same for both men and women (American Psychological Association, 2000).
Marijuana is classified as a schedule I controlled substance because there are studies that suggest that it has a high potential for abuse and that there is no solid evidence that it has medical benefits. Medical institutes like the British Medical Association (BMA) state that marijuana has been linked to health issues such as heart disease, lung cancer, bronchitis, and emphysema. Most importantly the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which is in charge of approving and rejecting drugs for safe medical uses, has not approved smoked marijuana as a medical treatment. The FDA has stated that there is not enough reliable evidence showing that marijuana is a safe and an effective treatment. There is more evidence supporting that smoked marijuana
Abusing drugs during adolescent years stems from a certain reputation within our culture that young people should experiment with illegal substances during their youth before they reach adulthood. When attending an all-boys catholic high school and also a creative arts high school simultaneously, there are two perspectives on how administrations handle drug abuse in their school system, meanwhile at the creative arts high school abuse of drugs comes with the territory of being an artist and it would seem from an outsider looking in that students abuse drugs to get their creative juices flowing and use that feeling for inspiration with their art. To an outsider looking in, it would seem that drug use is growing rampant and is the norm for some students but, this is not the case.
