Along with an increase of African American children in foster care, fetal death rates and weapon arrests. Roles lost in families and the community. Health and lifestyle of the African American communities depleting due to the powerful affects of crack cocaine. The African American community has been significantly affected by The Crack Epidemic in the areas of health and culture as a result of where the source of crack cocaine introduced itself in America, laws surrounding crack cocaine and the perception of the drug.

This type of program helps individuals who are drug addicts to stop their use, urge, and to overcome their drug addition issues. Narcotics Anonymous support group is known to be present worldwide in several locations that offers their assistance to drug addicts to recovery. Some individuals in this support group acts as “sponsors” helping the person he/she is sponsoring to remain drug-free. I am writing to you today regarding the recent outbreaks of Hepatitis A Virus (HAV) and the importance of hand washing. As you might know San Diego and Santa Cruz Counties are now experiencing outbreak epidemics, and our own county of Los Angeles declared a week ago, its own HAV outbreak.

I truly believe that if you can approach and tackle an issue before it arises you have a better chance of preventing long-term issues that will emerge in the future. Through my studies I have learned that if you educate students on bad choice making and the consequences that come from it you have a better chance for those students not to make those bad decisions. For this Midterm Project I plan to target high school students and inform them about drug use and abuse. In my opinion I think that if we teach high school students the effects that drugs can have on your body and your future maybe we can prevent them from using drugs for the first time or stop the issue before it gets out of hand. Students who are in high school can be hard to talk to but if you use material and language that catches their attention your speech can very influential to them. I want to prevent teens from using drugs. I want and need them to be educated on all the harms that illegal substances do to your body immediately after using them and what long-term effects come with it as well. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) found significant increases in heroin use were found in groups with historically low rates of heroin use, including women and people with private insurance and higher incomes. Heroin deaths have surged mostly among caucasians in the suburbs and small towns.

Substance use disorders are relevant to the adolescent development. Abu-Shakra and Cox (2014) describe the pathway by which substance use disorder is effected by externalizing behaviours. Externalizing behaviours include impulsive or aggressive behavers. Many studies contribute to this discourse. Over the years substance abuse has been on the rise with many people falling victims. This paper concentrates on substance abuse and addictive disorders in the African American population. Abusing drugs during adolescent years stems from a certain reputation within our culture that young people should experiment with illegal substances during their youth before they reach adulthood. When attending an all-boys catholic high school and also a creative arts high school simultaneously, there are two perspectives on how administrations handle drug abuse in their school system, meanwhile at the creative arts high school abuse of drugs comes with the territory of being an artist and it would seem from an outsider looking in that students abuse drugs to get their creative juices flowing and use that feeling for inspiration with their art. To an outsider looking in, it would seem that drug use is growing rampant and is the norm for some students but, this is not the case.

The fact remains that smoke is bad if you are looking to maintain the good health of your lungs, but, we cannot refute the other fact that there are individuals who enjoy smoking. For this category of people, it is good to try and look for smoking methods that are less harmful to your health.
