Integrative Network Design Project
Kudler Fine Foods (KFF) is a specialty food company that is base in California and has stores located in Encinitas, Del Mar, and La Jolla, its main store. At the stores customers can purchase fine foods such as produce, meat, and other specialty items that they provide. Kudler Fine Foods is considered one of the best fine food stores around. However, Kudler is in serious need of a network infrastructure upgrade of their old one. With the introduction of technology advancements in data collection items such as; network access and increased speeds while still providing information protection; and company communication; are the primary goals of the enterprise network. This step is important because it will increase the income and will reduce the cost of operations within the KFF stores. Kudler Fine Foods will go back up to technological speed as the network upgrade is completed, while at the same time improving the way they keep track of inventory and sales by using data mining techniques, which will be collected and analyzed in real time.

Wire Shark will be used to allow deep packet level analysis of the network and to mitigate possible network latency problems. Ping is also used to provide the user the ability to check the network conductivity from the workstation to a specific node or internet site. Trace Route is still another utility that can show the full connection path between the user’s workstation and the desired destination system being reached. The use of these tools can decrease the amount of time of an outage on a network by identifying which devices are not passing on the packets and where the packets drops are taking

Kudler Fine Foods is a specialty store founded in San Diego. Though nested in the neopolitan area they have additional store locations in Del Mar, La Jolla and Encinitas. Kudler has some of the best imported and domestic food, wine, and spirits. Their selection is comprised of fresh produce, bakery and pastries, condiments and packaged foods, fresh food and meat, and specialty dairy products and cheeses. Kudler’s mission is basically to provide the customers with the finest foods, wine, spirits and the best shopping experience all while buyimg the finest epicurean delights. Kudler Fine is evaluating their current network and creating a logical design document that will show what needs to be done to upgrade or install a new network system to meet the goals set out to achieve. The list of goals presented by Kudler management is as follows:
Kudler Fine Foods product offering includes various high end, organic, and fresh gourmet food. They have a wide range of specialty meats and cheeses along with 4 different kinds of aged, wine vinegar and of course wine and spirits. (Kudler Fine Foods, 2013) Kudler Fine Foods travels all over the world in hopes of bringing their customers an extensive and balanced collection of domestic and imported wines and spirits. Their wines vary from red or white, sweet or dry and come from the best grapes picked in perfect conditions. The wines they carry fit most budgets and pair well with meat or dessert. Their dessert wines, for instance, Prosecco, go great with a well known Italian desert, Tiramisu.
As companies grow a build customers bases and increase services to meet these demands there is a need to enhance information technologies to continually “Strategic management involves major decisions, business choices and actions that chart the course of the entire enterprise” (Gomez-Mejia et al., p 156). Kudler Fines Foods founded in 1998 and is growing rapidly. When they open their first store, Microsoft Access was selected as the database to track inventory, orders, and customers. The products, they sold are perishable and inventory must be properly tracked. Kudler excessive inventory is always a concern. This paper will evaluate database tables from accounting perspective, provide recommendation for improvement and create pivot table to help Kudler's management to improve decision making process.
The review of the current network used at Kudler Fine Foods was determine to be a bus topology as the network topology that is being used. The bus network is set-up in such a way that all the network components are connected via CAT5 to the bus or communication line. This configuration is true at sites in the corporation for their workstations, servers, and stand-alone UPS. A 56k modem is the device that is used by all of the networks communicating to the internet.
When Kudler opened its first store back in 1998, Microsoft Access was chosen as the database platform used to track inventory, orders and customers. While this initially proved to be an adequate solution, it has since outgrown its usefulness. Now with three stores and a fourth due to open soon, a new database management system must be put into place.
Although Kathy and the management team have a vast amount of data that is generated from standard operations, they must learn to use the information that is available to sound make business decisions. In conclusion this brief has evaluated the design elements of data tables and recommended improvements to the existing data tables. In addition a pivot table was created using inventory data for Kudler Fine Foods. Lastly this brief explained how information in the pivot table can help to improve decision making for Kathy and management at Kudler.

Maple Leaf Consumer Foods is the leading producer of the top and lean quality, bringing value-added fresh and prepared meat and meals product to the customer. Creating a customer value through employee is one Maple Leaf Foods objectives, brands and food safety capabilities, production and distribution network nationwide. Maple Leaf Foods is a customer driven company, generating product innovation and growth in the food business market. Employing more than 12000 employees across twenty-five processing plants, two major distribution centers, and sales organizations in Canada, the United States and Asia.
The aim of this assignment is to identify the most appropriate system to solve M.J.G.’s problems. M.J.G sales are a (small to medium enterprise) who has been in operation for 3 years and is suffering from problems with their system. The goal of the company is to expand their market share, both financially and geographically. Company main business is selling and providing mannequins to retailers in the region. The system at present only allows access to the files from within the headquarters in Shrewsbury where its two regional offices are in Glasgow and Manchester. At present company consists of the CEO, with four departmental managers, (finance manager, sales manager, supplies and marketing manager and personnel). As they looking to expand their market share funding received by director for upgrading and replacing existing information system once problems relate to the existing information system this will reduce company sales revenue, delays and losing customers trust.
Wal-Mart has employed over 2.2 million associates across the globe and about 1.3 million in the USA (Wal-Mart company website, 2014) Maintaining communication in such a huge work force is a daunting task. Wal-Mart communication network reaches all its employees from the cashier to the CEO. The company’s progressive innovation in their technology has been the key to their global success. Wal-Mart’s technological investments have kept the company’s products at low prices and available and accessible to its customers. Wal mart has outsourced their technical communication so that they can concentrate more on the business itself. They have also outsourced their database, which is the world’s largest commercial database at 7.5 terabyte, to NCR Corporation. They also use software that helps the management to more effectively communicate with other departments for instance the accounts and human resources departments. Neo Vista Company who tailored the software for the requirements of the NCR database environment provided for this software. This type of access to data is known as data mining where any employee of Wal-Mart could access the database and get key information about any item sold or is available for sale at any time the information is required. This has proved
