Leadership Is Important When Conducting A Organization, Program, Or Event

This past school year I have been social chair of Nursing Students Without Borders. I have organized, implemented and hosted social events throughout the Fall of 2016 and the Spring of 2017. This past year the leadership of NSWB has worked to make NSWB community focused which is why the position I held was added this past year. I have been able to mentor a pre-nursing student through NSWB. I was able to answer the questions honestly from a pre-nursing student and provide support during the application process. I have been able to participate in leadership meetings and have learned how to plan well and how to improve event planning.

The role of vision and power is very critical in the establishment of a planned change. Although the role of vision in planned change is very different from that of power, they both influence the course of events in planned change; ultimately leading to a positive outcome if carried out properly. Leadership is something that we are all born with because we are all born. Therefore, who is a leader and who is not depends on who really wants to be a leader and who does not. Leadership is a skill and so it can be learned. As anything that is learned it demands practice and practice to be the best. It would not be something that will happen in a matter of a day. There are multiple elements that make a leader. Collaboration is a key element for successful teamwork. Therefore, a leader must always be in the look for ways to foster collaboration. Understanding how to manage a team is crucial to leaderships. Leadership consists forming a fascinating future vision, and explain and deliver such vision properly to others. According to SFIA competency chart, in order to be a brilliant leadership, professionals should acquire the autonomy over all significant areas in the organization, have influence while making critical decisions, always understand the complexity of the organization, and have a full range of business skills to understand, explain and deliver ideas (SFIA Foundation, 2016). Most importantly, the leader should win the confidence from the members and motivate them (HBS, 2009). Team members are usually have difference abilities and come from a variety of backgrounds. Experience is arguably the best way to become a better leader; however, experience takes considerable time and effort to gain leadership positions and to learn from real-life experiences. Formal study of leadership is critical because it can help provide students with different tools to examine a situation from a variety of viewpoints. Using scientific studies and reading experiences from leaders past, one can more adequately prepare for leadership positions.

As an educational leader, it will provide opportunities to help design educational studies that reflect the very best of basic learning with 21st century preparedness for current and future job opportunities and careers. There have been too many instances where students do not have a chance to flourish by using their full potential because of budget cuts and various administrative decisions that in the long run can affect them negatively. As a leader in education, I believe I can make a difference by establishing universal administration and academic policies that will make resources available and allocated. The policies will garner enough support to improve the educational experience. This process will ensure that students will accomplish their goals and in turn develop them into successful future leaders. My vision is to be forward thinking by having an anticipation of barriers. However, allocating backup plans will allow for resources to be plentiful in turn will support the educational needs of the student. My vision will also include a framework that will promote the demands and essentials of the student. Leadership that is exemplary understands and knows the importance of expression of values and beliefs. This type of leadership has a voice that expresses principles that guide decisions and actions. All humans share similar basic needs and desires that we instinctually strive to satisfy. We all seek food, shelter, companionship, intimacy, importance and power. Leaders are no different. These needs must be satisfied, but leaders must be cautious and not be brought down or trapped by fulfilling these needs inappropriate ways. Leaders that lose their moral bearings and fall prey to unethical activities are not bad people, they just made bad choices. They didn’t take the role as leader to be inappropriate or evil, yet every leader has the capacity to make actions they deeply regret unless they remain grounded. It is important for leaders to manage their hungers by being aware of the potential pitfalls they may face while leading and satisfying their human needs.

Leadership changes are also seen in many schools as well. There is a change in not only roles, but alterations are noted in relationship and responsibilities. There is change in not only the roles, but the responsibilities and the relations are effected is well. It is seen that in this form of leadership, there is less tendency of hierarchical within an organization.

Leadership is an essential part of an organization. The business dictionary defines it as the act of leading a group of individuals in an organization by establishing a clear vision, sharing the vision and enabling employees within the organization to buy into the vision (n.d). There are various types of leaders and/ or leadership styles (i.e. transactional; transformational, etc.) (Kanungo, 2001). Many of the leaders may possess more than one approach when leading an organization. Aspects of ethical leadership include, but is not limited to “morality and fairness, role clarification, and power sharing” (De Hoogh, & Hartog, 2008, p. 297). According to (Kanungo, 2001), there is not much research on effectiveness of ethical leadership. Nonetheless, the writer chooses to focus on this form of leadership because leading with values and morals in mind could potentially save a child’s life in this field. Leaders in any profession should lead in a way that does not contradict their personal belief system, however, social services should be held to a higher standard because the welfare of families is usually at the center of the services being provided by employees.

Leadership is essentially the core and the spirit of an organization. As the people in charge, they not only manage the organization 's affairs; they also deal with the general employees face to face. Entrusted with the task to communicate organizational goals, visions and ideas to employees, leaders are responsible for maintaining and implementing organizational rules and systems and even have the final say on promotion, retention and dismissal. Therefore, in a sense, leaders at all levels are the spoke persons of their organizations, serving as the bridge and the link connecting employees. In the eyes of employees, leaders represent their organizations hence; leadership relationship influences the employee 's attitude towards their organization. Realizing the mission and vision of my organizations, staff must know that they can grow and advance.
