LIFE SPAN DEVELOPMENT AND PERSONALITY PAPER
The famous person I choose to write about from the 20th or 21st Century is Princess Diana. I have conducted a large amount of research on Princess Diana and have found what forces have influenced her life from the viewpoint of developmental psychology.
Influences of Heredity and Environment
Princess Diana was born on July 1, 1961 to parents Edward John Spencer, Viscount Althorp, and Frances Ruth Burke Roche, Viscountess Althorp (later known as the Honorable Frances Shand Kydd). Her parents ended up divorcing each other when Princess Diana was a young child and her father won custody of

(1996).
Theories of Personality
B. F. Skinner thought of personality in terms of the effects external stimuli have on behavior. This emphasized the mutual interaction of the person or "the organism" with its environment. An example of this is something a baby learns. If a baby cries and receives attention, it teaches the baby that in order to get attention they need to cry. Princess Diana learned that external stimuli have a huge effect on her behavior.
Cognitive theories are theories of personality that emphasize cognitive processes such as thinking and judging. Princess Diana knew that everything she said or did would be judged. This helped to shape her in the direction she went.
Theoretical Approach
I believe that Carl Roger’s approach best explains Princess Diana’s behaviors and achievements. According to About.com: Psychology, Carl Rogers, a humanist psychologist, believed that all people have an actualizing tendency-a drive to fulfill individual potential that motivates behavior. Rogers called healthy individuals "fully-functioning,” describing these individuals as those who are open to experience, live in the moment, trust their own judgment, feel free, and are creative.
Princess Diana was always trying new things and helping those in need. She trusted her own judgment on many things. After her divorce from Prince Charles, she had to reinvent her life
Princess Diana was an inspiration for many people around the world and used her royalty to highlight major social issues. Diana’s dedication to humanitarian work helped to promote awareness and raise money for a wide range of charitable causes, including her campaign against landmines and her kind hearted approach to the AIDS predicament. Diana crossed boundaries to offer support to casualties and worked hard to change the opinions of the general public, which didn't particularly follow royal protocol because she lead from the heart, not the head.
Princess Diana was born on July 1, 1961 in Sandringham, England under the name of Diana Frances Spencer. When she was young, she developed a very strong love for animals. She enjoyed spending her free time taking care of and looking after hurt animals. She developed a very strong love for those in need. This comes to show us the woman that she became. Princess Diana was a very caring woman, and was always looked up to those around her as an idol.
We need more Princess Diana’s in our world, especially in our society today. Now days most people are involved in gangs, participate with dealing illegal drugs, or even killing rampages. Princess Diana was an influential person because she would put others before herself; help those who are in need of medical assistance, and even those who have had an abusive relationship.
remember Diana’s open and respectful willingness to express her beliefs in a way that was neither
The Merced Sun-Star had people’s statements on September 1, 1997, who claimed that the princess “dedicated her life to humanity.” Many mourned and others praised her as a human. In this Newspaper article she is not seen as no celebrity but a wonderful person who will be missed. According to the Newspaper “She was very concerned for the poor. She was very anxious to do something for them.” That was the real princess the one who wanted to help others. Another quote that stood out to me from the Newspaper was “Everybody always talked about her private life but not enough about how she was as a human being.” This can relate how many see her as a celebrity when she really was not, she just used the cameras to get her good deeds known. According
To touch the hearts of many, one must go above and beyond what is required of them. By placing others before one’s self, showing selfless acts of kindness with no expectations. Born on July 1, 1961 and later given the name Lady Diana Frances Spencer. She later became someone we all came to know as Princess Di. She was known for her well-publicized marriage to Prince Charles of Whales, whom she later divorced in 1996. Princess Di, whom I will call her was also a very big humanitarian and activist for many causes. Here are many of the reasons why she still remains to be the “Queen of Hearts”.
Princess Diana still has a major influence on current events. The Ottawa Treaty went into effect in 1999. It was a treaty that banned landmines. Diana was recognized by the UK and other nations during the signing. She shed light on the problem and something was done about it after her death. She also made people aware that disease doesn’t make someone unable to be loved. Her works with AIDS and HIV infected people greatly influenced the world’s view on the disease. Charities were made in her name to help with homeless and sick children in
There are many people in the world who are influential. These people impact the world in a positive way by inspiring people to follow there dreams, overcome things that has happened, and being and influence or helping others. A person that shows these traits would be the one who gave all the money she could to charity:Princess Diana. Princess Diana is influential because of her good character, remarkable acts, and her positive influences.
Princess Diana inspires me because of her kindness to all of the people around her. And the things that she did in her lifetime, like helping people with aids. At the time people didn't know about aids and hated anyone with aids. They didn't come in contact with them and were afraid of getting touched by them because of this no one talked to them.
She has a younger sister Margaret. She (Margret) was born in 1930 just four years after Elizabeth. Both are the children of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. Elizabeth was born via cesarean section at her maternal grandfather’s home on Bruton St. in London.
Diana was a very influential person in history and had major contributions to the world.
Princess Diana had a very complex and sometimes symbiotic relationship with the paparazzi who covered her. In fact one reason why she was so loved, so followed and so revered is because the paparazzi constantly kept her image in the public eye. She was constantly portrayed as a sort of fairy tale princess, a lady of elegance and class who somehow connected with the poor and downtrodden people - regular everyday people - and in this way she gained the publics admiration and unfortunately their desire to know all the details about her life, including her personal agenda. There's no doubt Diana cultivated and used the press to her advantage during her life in the spotlight. "A woman who's been followed by the press as much as she has does not embrace her Egyptian lover in public on a boat where she knows there are going to be people floating around offshore taking pictures unless she means to make a statement" (Levine, 52). She, like many other stars and celebrity figures, played a game of sometimes hard-to-get and sometimes of great accessibility with the photographers who
Lastly, Princess Diana’s popularity with magazines and other genres of literature have gotten her into some tough predicaments. Her personal life had been already a handful, and the paparazzi only made outcomes worse. For instance, her divorce, her choice of doing charity work, and her death had all been affected by the public’s opinions. However, Diana never had a moment of dilatory when it came to helping people of all ages. Her divorce with Prince Charles was influenced by the fear of the public’s point of view on the subject, and her death was caused by a chase the paparazzi has conducted. Per contra, Princess Diana never let that stop her from persevering through her hardships and making the correct choices in
Ever since I was a little child, my mother told me stories about Princess Diana. Through this essay, I wanted to know more about the person who seemingly left a large footprint in, not only my mother’s heart, but in the people’s heart. She had always been amazed and inspired by Diana’s flawless looks, her never-ending smile, her attitude of fighting for the greater good and never giving up. What wonders me though, is what made her that special. There were and still are a lot of extraordinary princesses in this world. Still Princess Diana remains to be the most famous Princess of all time. What is it about her that makes her so unforgettable? Why do people still see
Princess Diana at the time of her death was arguably the world’s most renowned celebrity. Privately, Diana felt she was just an ordinary person; however, she was much more. She was known to be an advocate for the helpless and the hopeless. Diana’s influence was felt worldwide through her vast humanitarian activities, which consisted of working with and starting many charities. Diana used her royal title and her celebrity to raise awareness about many forgotten or overlooked causes. As a result of her worldwide travels, Diana became the people’s princess and the public was intrigued with her devotion, consideration, and graciousness. Diana’s wide and profound influence is seen in how popular Elton John’s tribute song “Candle in the
