Climate change is a challenge facing our planet right now. Long-term effects may develop as a result, causing threats to natural resources, human health, and the economy. The concern is rising with the amount of carbon emissions and greenhouse gases in our delicate atmosphere.
Change in climate occurs when long-term weather patterns are altered, through both human and natural causes. It involves changes in precipitation, winds, and temperature as an outcome. Causes include the release of carbon dioxide through such activities as burning fossil fuels and deforestation. Human influences on climate have intensified since the Industrial Era. The atmosphere keeps the climate stable. By disrupting the atmospheric balance, the global climate changes.

This can be detrimental to human health. With tropical heat, comes tropical illness, meaning aggravation of health problems, especially for the young and old. Rising temperatures will increase the range of disease-carrying organisms, such as mosquitoes. Global warming raises the risk of respiratory diseases, as grasses and allergenic pollens grow more profusely in a warmer environment. A hotter world is a sicker world.
Air pollution will become more toxic and urban smog will intensify. Communities are being forced to relocate due to exposure to rising sea levels, and extreme droughts, which put a strain on resources.
Canada is dependent on natural resources. The effect of climate change on resources could damage our economy. The 2001 prairie drought cost Canada over $5 billion in agricultural losses. Damage caused by floods, wildfires, and extreme storms require extensive and expensive repair of essential infrastructures, such as homes, bridges, and power lines. As a result of climate change, there will be lost productivity. Everyday life will be disrupted. This includes lost work or school days; harm to trade, transportation, agriculture, and tourism; and delay of planting, harvesting, and air travel. Harsh weather events push away tourists, which harms the tourism
Climate change has been in debate for many years over whether it is a threat or not, but climate change is a threat and will be for many generations to come. Climate change impacts the sea levels which has a major effect on oceans and marine life, causes more frequent and harsher storms, and puts coastal cities at risk for floods and erosion. Although climate change cost large amounts of money to fix it is killing our oceans and marine life, causes harsher storms, and risks coastal cities.
Some of the impacts of climate change are that severe thunderstorms and extreme weather events like a drought, etc. Can happen. Which can ruin certain parts in our community. One of the biggest worries that climate change has developed is how our water recourses can be affected and how there may be some difficulties to gain access to water/clean water (David Suzuki foundation, 2017). The forests in Canada are expected to be the most vulnerable to climate change these days. So, we really have to watch out for our trees and nature. It's also become a huge threat to the health of our loved ones and the children because of the spreading diseases caused by climate change.
Climate change will create a number of health problems in the near future and become a top social issue. Climate will create more smog which will lead to higher rates of and other heat related illness.” Montreal currently has approximately 70 annual heat related deaths, while Toronto has 20. According to the (World health organization,2015). The statistic shows why this has become a social issue because people are dying every year affecting our society. Climate change also affects our world economy. The country is spending a lot of money trying to combat the issue as the country is losing natural resources as well as expected natural disasters are taking place. In 2013 there was an increase in floodings in the Toronto and Vancouver area due to unexpected weather. The clean-up bill came to $1.9 billion — the single most costly disaster in Canadian history — and 90 per cent of it was on the federal tab because Canadians cannot buy flood insurance”(Moore,2015.) As you can see the impacts of climate change leave the government with having to pay massive amounts money when it could be used for other things like creating jobs but that money is often now lost. Climate change has an effect on the environment. The glaciers in the Antarctic are melting as a result of increased amounts of heat now we are losing a part of
The main reason the climate is changing is because people are adding greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. The most important greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide, which is released whenever people burn fossil fuels to do everyday activities like driving cars, heating buildings, and making electricity. As greenhouse gases build up in the atmosphere, they cause the Earth to trap extra heat, making the planet warmer.
Due to the effects of climate change long term effects of global change in the United States will occur. Change is predicted to continue through this century as well as beyond as temperatures will continue to rise, and hurricanes will become stronger and more intense. According to the Third National Climate Assessment Report (2017) from the NASA website points put that global climate is to continue to change over this century and beyond and that the magnitude of climate change beyond the next few decades depends primarily on the amount of heat-trapping gases emitted globally, and how sensitive the Earth’s climate is to those emissions (NASA, 2017).
When climate change affects people, either their countries flourish, or they cease to exist. If crops start to fade the food supply will go down, and the prices will go up. If it starts to rain heaps more, the river will flood and harm poorly built homes. If the country were to get warmer, the bug population would increase. Especially in Florida, the mosquito population would go up.
The impacts of climate change effects human health and their lifestyle of survival. People in developing areas that are trying to establish themselves as a country are mainly the ones who are exposed to the danger. Pregnant women, older adults and children with very low incomes have a much higher chance of increased life threatening results due to climate change. Warmer temperatures will end up leading to much more hotter days and possible longer heat waves. The changes shall lead to an increase in heat related deaths here in the United states of a total between one thousand to ten thousand.
The climate plays a huge part in our environmental system that even a minor change can have impacts that are large and complex. An article on council on foreign relation notes, climate change has been an ongoing issue since 30 years ago when scientist first alerted the public around the world to the to the danger of it. The same article explains that American Meteorological Society estimates "there is a 90 percent probability that global temperatures will rise by 3.5 degrees Celsius to 7.4 degrees Celsius in less than one
Climate change is a threat to nature and to civilization. The rise of greenhouse gases are anthropogenic because they are derived from human actions. The combustion of fossil fuels, along with deforestation are causing an increase in carbon dioxide. These carbon dioxide emissions are being trapped in our atmosphere and are warming the surface of the planet. Climate change is occurring right now, and if no actions are taken, then there is going to be a continuation of the relocation of animals, extinctions, and harsh consequences for humanity. It could lead to real struggles for the next generations to come. War over water and natural resources can become reality.
Climate change can be called as the change in the earths overall climate. Earth’s climate has always been changing, it has gone warmer and cooler over the years. But the earth’s average temperature shows that it has gone warmer than cooler which can lead to huge after-effects.
Climate change is the subject of how weather patterns change over decades or longer. Climate change takes place due to natural and human influences. Since the Industrial Revolution (i.e., 1750), humans have contributed to climate change through the emissions of GHGs and aerosols, and through changes in land use, resulting in a rise in global temperatures.1 Increases in global temperatures may have different impacts, such as an increase in storms, floods, droughts, and sea levels, and the decline of ice sheets, sea ice, and glaciers.
significant changes in the climate, like temperature and wind patterns, over the past couple of decades (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency “Glossary of Climate Change Terms”). The earth’s temperature has risen by an average of 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit and if it is not contained it could rise even further (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency “Science to Protect Public Health and the Environment, EPA Research Program Overview 2016-2019” pg. 2). The weather patterns across the earth have become more severe and citizens are having to get used to extreme weather like droughts and floods. Climate Change is the most important policy issue because it affects the resourcefulness and cleanness of air and water, which the U.S. and all nations depend upon.
What is climate change? Climate change is the seasonal changes for a period of time in the world. These climate patterns play an important role in shaping natural ecosystems, and the human economies and cultures that depend on them. The changes in climate can affect how people, plants and animal live, such as food production and health risks. The world is now worried about the changes that are occurring today and how it has been speeding up and seriously affecting human's lives. In 2007, scientists from the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) predicted that warming oceans and melting glaciers due to global warming and climate change could cause sea levels to rise 7-23 inches by the year 2100. Have you ever noticed how the Earth’s temperature has been rising over these past years? In the future, climate change will have a significant impact on every aspect of our daily lives. The climate changes in our Earth are affecting our lives psychologically, physically and emotionally. Most of these climate changes are due to small variations in Earth’s orbit that change the amount of solar energy the planet receives (NASA,2017). It can cause lots of affects for the growth of crops. If icecaps melt and areas flood as it is predicted, our entire population will be forced to move to higher ground. All these massive hurricanes for example, hurricane Harvey in Texas, are a great demonstration of how we are putting are planet in danger. The disappointing thing about all this topic
Imagine not being able to see outside or imagine having to life in a shelter because the world outside has changed so much it's not as inhabitable as it once was. Climate change is impacting the earth in various ways that will eventually cause the earth to become uninhabitable due to the harmful impacts, to the negative effects to the environment, and how the humans and animals are getting impacted just the as the rest of the world. Humans must immediately address climate change in order to ensure survival of all living things that are on earth.
There is strong evidence in the global world that climate change is occurring at a rapid pace and its impacts are already being felt in many regions around the world. Climate change is inevitable despite many efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and would have many economic, social and environmental impacts around the world. Though, impacts of climate change vary on regional basis, all areas around the world and virtually every economic sector would be affected.
