Ludwig Van Beethoven : An Impact On Music

Beethoven is perhaps the most famous musician of all time. His influence on later composers was extremely huge, to the extent where many composers were intimidated by his music. Ludwig van Beethoven was born in 1770 into a family of musicians. His father and grandfather were both musicians at the court of Elector in the German town of Bonn. His grandfather was very respected, but his dad not so much given that he was an alcoholic. At a young age, Beethoven was put in charge of his family’s finances and started a job at the court. He composed music and helped look after the instrumentation. Around the same time, he began to write music. In 1790, an important visitor passed through Bonn: this was Franz Joseph Haydn. He was on his way to London for a visit when he stopped to meet Beethoven and agreed to take him on as a student when he came back from London to Vienna. In 1792, Beethoven moved to Vienna to study with Hayden. Apparently, it did not go as planned. Hayden was old fashion and a little overbearing, while Beethoven was rebellious and headstrong. Beethoven found support among the rich arts who lived in Vienna. Prince Lichnowsky gave him board and lodging at his place for in return, Beethoven would compose music and preform at evening parties.

Laurent Clerc was born on December 26, 1785. It is believed that Clerc became deaf by falling off of his high chair into the kitchen fireplace around age one. He had gotten a severe burn on his right cheek, and a fever developed, and later on his hearing and smelling senses were damaged. It was never quite clear whether he was born deaf, or if it had been a cause of his accident. Clerc’s parents had tried many different treatments to get Clercs hearing back, although none of them succeeded.

Beethoven had reached complete deafness in the 1810’s. At this time he piano playing and conducting were deteriorating. At the age of 44 he was no longer able to play in public, but insisted on conducting still. Often times the performances were chaotic and he was hard to comprehend by musicians. He had a custody battle for his nephew Karl, in which he won. This caused disaster as Beethoven craved attention and companionship. After 1818, Beethoven conducted some of his greatest works even though he was completely deaf. Beethoven’s music was influenced by Haydn and Mozart although he had his own unique style. He was one of the greatest composers ever and had to overcome his complete deafness and suffering to put out these great works.

Ever since his father began teaching him as a child to play the violin and clavier, any keyboard instrument such as the harpsichord, Ludwig van Beethoven has been amongst the most renowned and influential composers of music. Despite the harsh punishments and mistreatment Beethoven suffered through while practicing with his father, he still managed to become a “prodigy” at a rather young age, having his first public recital at around seven years old. After his first recital role music played in his continued to grow, and soon after dropping out of school to pursue music “full time” he published his first composition.

In Bonn, on December of 1770, a child was born to a lower middle class Finnish couple; Johann and Maria. Given the name Ludwig after his grandfather, a choirmaster, this child would grow to continue the name of the musically inclined Beethoven family, and eventually supersede its reputation with his own genius. As a deaf composer and musician, Ludwig von Beethoven is one of the greatest paradoxes in the realm of music. From his upbringing, his triumph over his disability, and his world renowned success in music, it is still proclaimed that he is one of the most influential and well known classical musicians in the world.

On 17 December 1770, Ludwig van Beethoven was born. He was an amazing and great classical musical composer. He is known for being the most famous composer of the classical and romantic periods of music. According to the “Enjoyment of Music” manual, Beethoven was born in Bohn, Germany. His father, with his grandfather, was the two singers at the court of a local prince, Friedrich Max. (Forney and Machlis 197).

Regrettably, though in the late 1790s Beethoven began to lose his hearing. Then at the start of the 1800s Beethoven changed the way he created music and his personality because of the increasing deafness. Prior to the increasing loss of hearing Beethoven had been full of pride and independent, though a little odd. When his hearing started to go he changed, he became more apprehensive and ill tempered. Despite becoming absolutely deaf by the end of his life Beethoven’s works were still brilliant. It was on March 26, 1827 when Beethoven died, the cause was a simple cold that turned into pneumonia and then later dropsy.

Ludwig Van Beethoven was a marvelous pianist throughout the 1800s. People across the world have heard him through the radio, CDs, and even on Youtube. He is popular for being one of the greatest composer’s to live. Some of his famous works, “Fur Elise” or “Moonlight Sonata”, are played so many times around the year. Beethoven’s talent really affected his successful life. When Beethoven was a young adult, he recognized symptoms of deafness. He ignored the minor problems and continued playing the piano in public and small orchestras. Not until 1802, Ludwig could no longer be in doubt that his malady was both permanent and progressive (Knapp and Budden). By 1819, his deafness has become permanent. This didn’t stop him, and look what he became. During the 18th century, instrumental music wasn’t that all popular. It was ranked below literature and painting. Beethoven’s biggest achievement was increasing it’s prominent value. There were social, economic, and cultural influence on Ludwig Van Beethoven which affected his lifetime achievement.

Although there has been confusion about the actual date of Beethoven’s birth, it has been widely accepted that his birthday was December 16, 1770, and his date of baptism is December 17, 1770. He was born in Bonn, Germany to a musician father, Johann van Beethoven, who was an alcoholic. His mother was the warm and loving parent named Magdalena Keverich van Beethoven, and Beethoven was very close to her. Even though Johann and Mary had seven children, only three boys survived, and Ludwig was the oldest. Born into the musical profession, and as the eldest child, Ludwig’s father was extremely controlling towards him. Johann saw “signs of talent for the piano” in Beethoven, and “tried to make him a child prodigy like Mozart, but did not succeed” (Knapp, 2016). The family was

Beethoven already started to lose his hearing way before his dedication to Napoleon. Becoming deaf made his life miserable, but he tried to come to terms with his condition. The most likely reason for his loss of hearing is probably because of lead poisoning. There were high amounts of lead found in his hair. Beethoven was often irascible and may have suffered from bipolar disorder and irritability brought on by chronic abdominal pain that has been attributed to possible lead poisoning Over time his hearing loss

Ludwig van Beethoven was, and remains today, an influential figure in the history of classical music. Perhaps no other composer in history wrote music of such inspiring power and expressiveness. His influence on the last 150 years of music is unequalled.

Music was his life and he was deeply depressed and angry at the thought of being deaf. He even became suicidal. His relationship to his music was very serious, and though he continued to compose music, he never performed again following a failure to perform his Piano Concerto No. 5 "Emperor" in 1811.

He was born in the German town of Bonn on the 16th of December 1770. His grandfather Ludwig and his father Johann were both musicians. Johann was to act as little Ludwig's first music teacher, but Ludwig soon changed to the court organist C. G. Neefe. Passing eleven years of age, Ludwig deputized for Neefe, and at twelve had his first music published. He then stayed as Neefe's assistant until 1787, when at seventeen, he took off for Vienna. Even though Vienna was to be his home for the rest of his life, this first visit was short. On hearing that his mother was dying, he quickly returned to Bonn. Five years later he finally moved to Vienna to live and work.

Ludwig was baptized on December 17, 1770 in Bonn Germany. Many believe that he was actually born on the 16th, as babies during his time were baptized within 24 hours. Out of the seven children that his parents had, only three sons survived. Ludwig being the eldest of the three.

Ludwig van Beethoven (1770- 28 March 1827) was one of the greatest art musicians, and probably had more influence over musical events than any composer, of his time (Charlton, 2016). He was born in Bonn, Germany to Father Johann van Beethoven, and named after his grandfather, Ludwig van Beethoven. There is no official record of his birthday, but the church had on file his baptism on 17 December 1770. Because one of his teacher celebrated his birthday on 16 December, his birthday is generally accepted to be on this date. He had seven brothers and sister, being one of three to survive early childhood.
