While cycling along a farm to market road in southeastern Texas Monday, Mike McGhee was struck by a vehicle, breaking his shoulder, mangling his bike and cracking his guitar. “Actually I’m in pretty good shape for the shape I’m in. I’m extremely lucky,” McGhee joked during a phone interview from his hotel in Navasota, Texas where he will spend a few days recovering. “I’ve got a broken shoulder but it’s not really that bad - it doesn’t require surgery.” McGhee said he had minor bruises and scrapes and was “kind of sore” but intends to continue his journey around the perimeter of the United States that he started on New Years Day. McGhee had traveled to South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana before entering Texas a few days ago. Monday around lunchtime he was hit by a passing car while travelling through Sam Houston State Forest in Navasota, Texas just north of Houston. He said he has no recollection of being hit but the men who struck him carried him to the nearest hospital. …show more content…
“Clara (his bike) is pretty well mangled up and my guitar got a crack and my iPad with its Lifeproof case is completely destroyed. A variety of things got injured. My helmet completely shattered. My helmet saved me one more time.” After his discharge from the hospital, police gave him a ride to a nearby Best Western where he will spend some time recovering. McGhee said he might return to Jasper to have a new bike shipped to him and re-stock. He might, however, have the bike shipped to Austin and spend a little time there enjoying the music scene. McGhee, a musician himself, is doing his trek in support of the Fender Music
“At about the same time, I was comforting the man who had been hit… He wanted to hold my hand because it was hurting him so bad.”
He says he's in the best shape of his life, and Fowler suggests the running back is not lying.
In the article written in the (Douglas County 2010) "In Douglas County between 2003-2007: The homicide rate in the black population was 6.7 per 100,000 population, slightly higher than the white population rate of 5.9. The age group with the highest homicide rate was 30-39 year olds with a rate of 8.9 per 100,000 population. The suicide rate in Douglas County from 2003-2007 was much higher in whites with a rate of 12.9 per 100,000 compared to a rate of 4.0 for blacks." One organizational barrier is having enough program facilities and enough training of staff for the ones which we have in place. They must be able to detect potential victims and be able to recognized early those who are at risk. One way the community may decrease its suicide and murder rate according to our text (Burkholder & Nash, 2013, p.6.1) " Improving local economies and living conditions in low-income areas may also reduce the overall number of

On 06-06-2018, at approximately 1818 hours, I was contacted by Cpl. F. Capitano, in reference to a suicide at 11513 Lake Ridge Road. Upon arrival I met with Cpl. G. Thomas, who advised what occurred. I then entered the residence with Deputy E. Palacios, who was the first deputy on scene, Deputy B. Shannon, who is the originating deputy and Crime Scene Tech S. The medical definition of suicide is the act or an instance of taking one's own life voluntarily and intentionally. For the family members who end up losing someone to this permanent decision are left to questioning what exactly lead up to their loved one making the decision to take their own life. According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention website suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States but the 11th leading cause of death in the state of Texas; based on information collected by the CDC in 2015 44,193 deaths occur from suicide and 3,403 of those take place in the state of Texas. According to research, California State Fullerton professor Eliza Noh states that Asian-American women of the age 15 to 24 have the highest rates of suicide than any other racial, ethnic, or gender group. The “model minority” pressure—“socially produced pressure internalized by families of some Asian-American children to be high achievers at school and professionally”—plays a large factor to the issue, especially since girls, who are more affected by it than boys, are expected to become the “perfect mother, daughter, wife and get only A’s in school and choose the right type of job,” (Cruz 1). Noh adds on, saying that Asian-American women have a tendency “to ignore or deny stress, depression and other mental health problems” which “can
In Arizona, the suicide rate is 16.5 per 100,000 people which makes Arizona the top 8th state with the highest suicide rate. Arizona has a population of 6.83 million people and is also the top 8th state with the highest suicide rate, according to cbsnews. As alarming as it sounds “Suicide is the 8th leading cause of death in the United States”(randomhistory.com) After looking at these statistics, suicide is a big issue in Arizona, therefore critical action should be taken. People need to learn how to identify the signs of someone who is thinking about or has decided on committing suicide. As well as get educated on what causes the victims to go through with the act. Tim Bowers had every right to make the decision to take himself off of life support. Bowers was fully aware and concious when he made the decision to be taken off life support, fully knowing the extent of his injuriuries. He understood what his life would be like had he decided to undergo surgery on his spine and remain on life support. Based on the principle of beneficence, the risk of the surgery causing more pain for Bowers was worse than any good that could have been gained, since Bowers had stated that he did not want to live his life in a wheel chair, being only able to sit up, causing emotional dismay and unhappiness. Since Bowers had told his wife before the accident that he did not want to remain in a wheel chair had something were
Jesica did not die due to a lack of social and cultural barriers with her family. While this is an issue with the case as a whole, she died due to a lack of communication from the donor services and the physicians on staff. There was no mention of any documentation on anyone's part. The donor services stated that they informed the operating physician and the physician who picked up the donated organs. The operating physician did not recall being informed and he did not mention the blood type of Jesica to the physician who picked up the organs (Burns, Bradley, Weiner, & Shortell, 2012).
He was helped off the court and had his foot submerged in ice cold water. He could still walk on the ankle, although the pain made him clench his teeth with each step. After the game, he continued to walk on it, although the pain seemed dulled from the tightness of his shoe and the coldness from being in the ice bath.

He’s badly bruised with a long burn across his chest and four tracker jacker stings, if you count the one under his ear. But I feel a bit better. This much I can fix,” verify that she wants him to also survive. I can tell this because of how Suzanne Collins crafts that phrase. She uses very descriptive words that paint a picture in my mind of what this would look like.
All though the extent of his injuries was never disclosed, Dylan said that he broke several vertebrae in his neck. Mystery still surrounds the circumstances of the accident since no ambulance was called to the scene and Dylan was not hospitalized. Dylan's biographers have written that the crash offered Dylan the chance to escape the pressures around him. Dylan confirmed this interpretation in his autobiography: "I had been in a motorcycle accident and I'd been hurt, but I recovered. Truth was that I wanted to get out of the rat race." Dylan withdrew from public and his musical performances, and apart from a few appearances, did not tour again for almost eight
