Now that Kate was on the outskirts of the airport hanger and away from the strange glowing force field, still visible in the distance. The situation felt surreal, and Kate wondered if this was just a dream. Presently, she was cognizant that there was something foreign in the brisk early morning air, glittering like snow, feeling like sand as the tiny flecks dusted her skin. Jacks, was actually keeping up with her sprightly stride. Ordinarily, he walked with a distinct gimp and on numerous occasions, Kate had spied him with a cane. When she first joined the Lacrosse team, Kate had politely made a reference to Mr.Jacks handicap, and at the time, Kate noticed the crestfallen mask that had come across his face, let Kate know never to mention the subject again. The answer, he did offer, was muffled and not intelligible. The rumors that swirled in her school concerning why he was lame, related to a childhood mishap, another theory was that his injury might have been a war wound. Instinctively, Kate reached into her jacket pocket and read the message on her phone, informing her that her phone had only enough battery life to make one call. Immedialtely, Kate knew who that call would go to, she dialed the numbers praying that they would pick up... "Kate?" A soothing voice queried. "Uncle Thomas!"
