Mrs. Barrier is my homeroom and History teacher, and although we have only been in school for a few weeks, I feel very comfortable around her. At the beginning of the year, she said that we were always welcome to come to her for help. Whenever I went to her with a question about an assignment, she was very helpful, so I feel confident that I will do well in her class, and I feel that if I needed help with something that was not schoolwork-related, she would still be very helpful. Since it is my goal to do well in school and avoid issues with anything at school, whether it be the work or the people, I think that Mrs. Barrier could be very helpful to me in achieving those goals. Mrs. Barrier was the teacher I chose to interview for this paper, and I found her last two answers very helpful and very true. My first question was “What do you do at RCC?” to which her answer was “I educate students a RECHS.” (Mrs. Barrier is the History teacher for the freshman). The next question was “Why did you decide to pursue this career?” and she replied, “I always wanted to be a teacher ever since I …show more content…
My friends have and will be able to help me in many different ways this year and throughout my early college experience. Of course spending time together is fun and allows us to take our minds off school and relax, which is always enjoyable. They are also able to help me when it comes to school work, and I do my best to help them. My friends can help me to relax and enjoy my time, but they can also help me to stay on track and keep reaching for my goals. I hope that the acquaintances I have made and will continue making at RECHS can help me by providing my with information or help with school work that I may not have gotten, along with providing people to talk to or discuss things with, if need
Some teachers say that they have had the dream of being a teacher their entire life. I on the other hand would not strive for this dream until my second semester of college at the College of Southern Nevada, and I often ponder how different my life would have been if I would have had a teaching end goal from the beginning.
I believe that education is the key in developing today’s students into tomorrow’s leaders. Education is the basis on which individuals develop their self-concept and the desire to become more knowledgeable. I want to become an educator because I am interested in helping elementary students become active learners and also to assist with their social skills. I believe I can make a difference to many students as they start their educational foundation. I feel that all teachers should possess the desire to devote their hard work and efforts to their students’ educational success. I view teaching as not only one of the most respected careers, but also as one in which the rewards are great and many
I have had a lifetime goal to attend college, it just didn’t happen early in life. When I first came to CCU, there was no doubt that getting my bachelors in early childhood would be my major. My passion has always been young children. It started when I babysat as a young teenager and has continued in my life as a preschool teacher. Education is constantly changing: therefore, I feel I need to have more knowledge and wisdom to be the best teacher possible. Education is by far one of the most important tools to have a successful life. With diligence, I want to be a leading educator and to be a gateway for my students to learn. It’s exhilarating how many lives a teacher will touch each day. A teacher has the power to reach out and make learning a positive and memorable experience for every child. Furthermore, teachers are one of the first caregivers for young children. Although I am not at the beginning of my career, while at CCU, I will grow in faith, help and learn from others, and strive to graduate with honors.
Despite only being in high school for two years, the friends that I have made have greatly impacted who I am as a person. Whenever I am struggling, my friends are the first people I turn to for advice. I learned from them that I always put others first even when it may cause a large amount of stress later on, am very talkative about the things I am
Even though I volunteered in different schools, I never had the opportunity to ask about the real feelings of a teacher. During the interview, I learned that there is more than just teaching in becoming a teacher. This is because she told me how one of her hesitation on becoming a teacher is the time one dedicates for the job. She told me that when one is teacher, one must prepare lesson plans, come to school early to prepare for the day, and even stay longer to grade papers. She said that her typical day starts at 7:30 am to prepare materials and school instruction starts from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm. Then, even though the class ends already, she needs to create lesson plans for the entire week. She said that all these things are part of a teacher’s job, but they do not get paid to do these things. Therefore, I learned that being a teacher is not easy because there are a lot of extra responsibilities beyond the job description and that being a teacher extend beyond the classroom. Additionally, her answer made me reflect on whether I want a job, where I have to work more than the “work hours.” However, despite this workload, what amazes me was when she said that if she could go back, she would still choose to be a teacher because of her passion to make a difference in the lives of the
First, I must offer my gratitude to the students I have met over the years for sharing with me the burden that is high school and assisting me all the way. In high school, deadlines are tight, and the pressure to do well is overbearing, but something so simple as a friendship can go a long way in alleviating that stress.
In college you will meet new people and they will offer you help in many ways. Say you were really struggling in a class like chemistry if your friend was good in chemistry he or she could be of great aid. The friends you make in college is bonds that could be for life possibly. Say you need a ride to your job you call your friend from college that you always hang with and they could be helpful.
For me, the decision to become a teacher is more of a way of life than a career. I have always loved school, practicing at being school marm from a young age, and voraciously devouring every shred of education offered me in my career as a student. If it were possible, I would be a student for the rest of my life. And then I still would not have learned enough. As a teacher, I hope to instill this appetite for knowledge in secondary students. They are, after all, the future leaders of the world, and what better place to expand the minds of the generations to come than here in Appalachia where education programs, especially the sciences, which I plan to teach, are poorly funded and children’s dreams
I've decided to do my project on my DRE-098 teacher whose name is Jayce Russell. Mr. Russell teaches at RCC and he does many other things that go with teaching like grading and going to meetings and helping students the best way he can. He said he decided to pursue this career because it let him get the degrees he wanted and he says it takes advantage of communication skills and a chance to help others and make a difference. He believes that by forming relationships in college is you get to meet new people who change the way you think about things and you have similar interest with them. His advice for students is to be open and take advantage of everything that’s offered to the students like the library, the ARC and office hours that teachers
I always thought I would be a teacher and I would make differences in lives and it would be the greatest experience in the world for me, yet being a teacher wasn’t enough, I had a need to expand my education. I decided that perhaps I needed a new career, however, I felt certain education remained my passion. I began to explore new areas of education and I realized I still want to be a member of a classroom, a school and curriculum. I aspire to guide those leading our classrooms.
My decision to be a teacher did not come easily to me. This choice was dependent on a reflection about what I was passionate about and how I could make a difference. I have chosen to become a teacher, as I believe teachers have the ability to provide future generations the stimulation for one of the most significant roles in life; to become a lifelong learner. Many teachers that I have had during my education have had a positive impact on my decision to grow and develop the skills that are fundamental to pursue a successful teaching career. My aim is to be a part of an honorable profession with the optimism that one day I will become an efficacious teacher who can provide future teachers with inspiration, as my teachers have provided for me. Through personal educational experiences and peer-reviewed academic literature, I am able to shape my approach to my pre-service teaching, as it will influence my future practice. As a teacher, there is not just one singular approach to educating students; there is a need for flexibility, diversity, adaptation and reflection.
Ideally, when I graduate, I would like to enter the credential program at Cal Poly Pomona. As an English Education major, I feel like this is the next logical step for me as I seek to move forward on my path of becoming a teacher. The opportunities that await me in the credential program truly excite me because I have always found my studies of English Education to be very rewarding and purposeful. I have found this to be especially true now because I am currently in the process of conducting observation hours at local high schools in Pomona as part of my English Education curriculum. When I am in the classroom, I immediately feel a sense of joy, purpose, and productivity. Outside of the classroom, I do have experience teaching as a leader for a club on campus; I am a Woman’s Bible Study Leader for Cal Poly Cru and I have found this experience of teaching college students to be the most exciting, challenging, and rewarding experience I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. It can become overwhelming as doubts and deadlines tend to sneak in on me from time to time, but I know that being a teacher is worth every ounce of pressure because of the positive impact that a teacher has the ability to make on a student. There is an incredible statistic that states that “On average a teacher affects 3,000 children over the course of their career” (Bickley). This opportunity stirs my heart like nothing else because when I was in high school, I had an incredible teacher named
Teacher’s make a choice early on to chase the dream and not the dollar. It is not about the money that is to be made but rather about the minds that can be molded. A teacher goes through rigorous education requirements to prepare for the many roles a teacher must play. In today’s world, many students are falling through the cracks and teachers are facing tremendous difficulties leading them to leave, but I want to join the education field so I can take these students and guide them to the right track. I know that taking Sociology 101 will make me a better teacher.
Why am I a teacher? When I was a child I always had to pretend play school with my friends and I always had to be the teacher. My mom was a preschool teacher at the local day care center and I grew up seeing her cut bulletin boards and plan lessons. My best friend in middle school 's mom was also a teacher. I never wanted to be anything else and didn 't really have a back up plan if this teaching thing didn 't work out. In this paper I will take you on a journey through my educational years in elementary school and middle school, my time high school, delve into my time in college and then into my career as a teacher.
One thing I plan to do to meet people who can help me is to make more friends. Making friends is one way I can build relationships that will benefit me during and after college. I have already built some friendships with students I have met this year that are beneficial to me in regard to studying. I can study with the friends I make during college and get help with assignments that I do not understand. As for after college, the friends that I keep in touch with may inform me of a job opportunity they have heard of or a job opportunity in their current job. They may be able to connect me to future employers. Building lasting friendships will benefit me in the long run whether it be career wise or socially. However, to make more friends I would have to stop being shy and initiate a conversation with people in my classes instead of sitting quietly until someone talks to me. To maintain these friendships, I would form study groups with them if we have classes in common, attend events with them, or hang out with them outside of class.
