My Pet Peeve Research Paper

My pet peeve is bad drivers: the people who drive with no care of anyone else on the road. There are many types of bad drivers, including slow drivers, fast drivers, and those who cannot follow simple traffic instructions. There are also drivers who cannot stay in their lanes or turn too tightly at a light, almost hitting others in the process. Another predicament that frustrates me is when people do not put on their blinker until the last second. On the way to school, there is a Starbucks attached to a bunch of buildings, but the turn to get into the parking lot is on a road that has a speed limit of fifty-five miles per hour. The people that decide to turn there though, never turn their blinkers on until a couple meters before the turn, or not at all.

Recycling is more than just a great idea, it is and must be a way of living. The way we take care of our environment is how our environment will treat us. If we do not take care of our environment, not only will our home look unfit to live in but it is unethical to leave the environment we live in unhealthy for our future. I do agree with the GatesburgGoGreen idea and reading through you will see my evidence as to why.

One of the biggest pet peeves that I have at the moment is a liar. What is a liar? A liar, to me, is disloyal, dishonest, untrustworthy, and conniving. When I think about a liar certain types of people come to mind. These type of people include criminals, lawyers, and cheaters. A good percentage of criminals are known for lying when they get caught for their crimes. An example, of a scenario that I think of is when wrongdoers lie to the police about their true intentions on why they may have committed a crime. Being conniving causes them to become ruthless with their lies, and hypothetically could cause them to do or say whatever so they will not have to reap what they sow. Recycling doesn’t affect people that much, but it does affect wildlife and animals. Like the six pack rings, soda comes in, fish get caught in it and they die. Another thing is plastic bags get thrown into the ocean and turtles mistake it for jellyfish, eat it and die. Imagine a world cluttered with trash, once beautiful beaches and parks now overflowing with garbage. Roads no longer driveable, air no longer clean. Masks will be worn, and disease is on the rise. Now, imagine if you could have prevented this. I believe recycling is the first step. As of 2006 America is in the lead for producing the most waste, producing 236 million tons annually. Not only are we producing the most waste but by 2100 scientists estimate the amount will triple which will have serious effects on the Earth. Both physical effects and fiscal which means public services and government budgets will be impacted. The word pet peeve can be translated in many different ways. Its extremity is defined by the individual who has it. Pet peeves can span from smacking gum all the way to inequality. If I had to place all my attention on one it would be supremacy, or the act of thinking of oneself as superior to others. To illustrate my point, if a student who had a 4.0 GPA score referred to another as dumb or ignorant the student who has the 4.0 was thinking of himself as superior to the other. His academic achievements were allowing him to place himself in a position of authority above others. Biblically supremacy is something that is not praised and should never be tolerated. Most people in the world talk about others no matter the case. People talk about each other in the case of religion, race, gender, etc. The biggest pet peeve is people who are judgmental.I will never forget the time that I heard the most disrespectful and judgmental thing in that school when I was in the fifth grade. In this memory I had a friend that had his family moving to the states from Iraq because of his father.

Every Monday and Wednesday in my College Career Skills class, a student enters the classroom making sure everyone knows he has arrived. Multiple times he has run into the class acting like he was late, yet he was at least five minutes early. Every class, he has to interrupt the teacher while she is in the middle of a lecture and half of the time it is not relevant to what is being taught. One of my biggest pet peeves is being interrupted while trying to learn and it happens every time I am in this class. We have been told on multiple occasions that class will be let out early, yet this student continues to interrupt the teacher causing us not to finish and leave early. I have tried to be nice and just ignore it, but it has gotten out of hand

Although spending a lot of time on the road, I see a lot of stupid behavior. I could list at least 15 driving pet peeves. I will limit myself to three. One thing really bothers me. When driving, people forget to turn off the turn signal. It is so distracting that I hate to drive for miles behind someone a flashing turn signal. Second, people sometimes flash their headlights. It is so irritating that I don’t understand why people get impatient. Third, while driving, people listen to their music so loudly, that they don’t focus on the road. It is really annoying. People should know everything about driving before applying for a driver’s license.

A pet peeve of mine that pushes my limits is when a person is mad or extremely moody for their own personal reason and then decide to take out their irritation on somebody else. This behavior rises my own temper when somebody else’s temper gets the best of them. Not only do I see it as being rude but when it doesn’t involve the other person being at fault, it infuriates me. Every person experiences bad days where your attitude is very negative but it gives you no reason to be harm someone else’s feelings or mood. Still, a normal action like experiencing a bad feeling and making a remark just shakes my nerves.

My sister hates it when people don’t use turn signals. My mom hates when people interrupt her while she is telling a story. And don't even get my dad started on people who don't turn right on red. For other people it could be loud talkers, or people who cut into your conversation, or even tapping; but it seems like everyone has some sort of a major pet peeve. So let me go ahead and just tell you about mine.

A pet peeve is a specific thing that bothers you every single moment. I don’t like it when workers are giving buyer poor customer services. This sincerely gets my blood pressure going. When it comes to client happiness, bad patron service is not a good thing. I feel one of the reasons why business have poor customer service is because they personnel get overwhelmed. When I’m at the other end and I’m the buyer, I have no tolerance for ill-mannered staff and poor customer service. Another pet peeve I have is when employees gossip at work.
