It was just a typical day on the Poster farm, a warm breeze blew the smell of hay across the land, the holstein cows bellered in the barn, and the sun shined down on a beautiful June day. Donna and Greg lived in Royalton for about six years with their two children, Nicole (Nikki) and Andrew (Andy). They had an everyday routine down, every now and then something would come up and the routine would change. Donna provided all of the meals, was a hardworking farmer, gave all of the advice and love anyone could ask for. Donna’s brother called earlier asking if his daughter could come over because he had errands to run, of course Donna said yes. Nikki and her niece, Monique, both six at the time. Nikki loved to hang out with someone besides Andy. …show more content…
Greg and Donna taught them how to shift the gears and where the gas and brakes were located and all of the necessities. It was and still is an essential tool on a farm, getting from place to place in a quick manner, and something that the kids can drive. If Greg or Donna were working in a field nearby, the kids could get to them in need of an emergency. The legal age for driving an ATV is 16 years old, not to mention a helmet should be worn at all times, and never more than one person on. Living on farm none of these rules were followed. There was never time to put on a helmet and the whole point of having a four wheeler was to give someone a …show more content…
The bone at the crease of his arm had popped out. As the tears rolled down his cheeks, Greg told him that he would have to lie to the nurses and the doctors. Being that he was three, on a four wheeler, without a helmet, we figured that if the truth was told social services would most likely be in the picture. We told him to tell the nurses and doctors if they asked, to tell them that he fell out of a tree. I then carried him to the car and we left for the hospital. Greg had to stay back and milk cows, finish the chores, and wait for my mom to pick up the
Coming from a lonely and abusive home Mary had to find happiness outside of her house. Her mom made a friend from their church and she happened to have a three month year old baby. Mary always occupied the Richardson’s by helping with baby Alyssa, while also distracting herself from reality. Meeting the Richardson’s ended up being Mary’s worst nightmare. One night the Richardson’s went out and asked Mary and her mother to watch Alyssa.
I hate driving. I have some trepidation about using that word but hate is due where it’s due. And I hate driving. It might have something to do with the fact that no matter how good a driver I am, my safety is still in the hands of some over-confident twenty-something who is texting, eating, and driving simultaneously. Or maybe it’s the environmentally driven guilt I have while pumping gas. Either way, I just really don’t like driving. But, it was driving that made me realize I felt like an ant. I was in the left turn lane on my way home from a hot afternoon of summer band. The little green traffic arrow lit up and, much like ants following the instruction of a pheromone, we swung our metallic bodies in the instructed direction of travel and

I approached the vehicle and asked MD why she was driving without someone 21 years of age in the vehicle and she informed me that she just wanted to hang out with friends and watch the fireworks. I asked MD if anyone in the vehicle had consumed alcohol and she told me no.
In 2011, I received a ticket from Jupiter police for reckless driving at 6:36 pm it was my first tickets ever since I’ve receive my driver’s license in 2005. I was dropping my co-worker home from work, and as I was turning into the development, a car hit me from behind. The lady immediately got out of her car screaming saying I backed my car into hers and I told her that I did not, that she hit me, she wanted to argue but I got into my car and called the police. Now, by the time the officer arrived she was laying on the floor crying and screaming with her son. So I got out the car and asked her if she was ok. Long story short I received the ticket despite my vehicle being damaged. Now because I felt that I was innocent I decided to not pay
As cell phones become more popular, texting while driving is becoming the most widely known cause for car accidents among teens. The alarming rate of incidents where texting is involved is getting more parents worried and warning their children about the danger of texting while driving. Parents are urging the fact that drivers should pay attention to the road and traffic, not their phones. A popular study of 18 to 24 year old drivers showed that 66 percent of them have texted while driving. Since texting while driving is becoming more popular many states are passing a law to ban the use of any cell phone device while in a vehicle. Texting while driving is an important issue that is causing many deaths and those who cause these deaths and
In the recent years, the United States government has been enforcing stricter mandates on auto manufacturers to create safer vehicles, and on construction companies to create safer roadways. Matthew Jensen wrote a dissertation for the Graduate School of Clemson University titled, A Methodology for the Analysis of In-vehicle Operating Data and Design of Intelligent Vehicle Systems for Improved Automotive Safety. In his abstract, Jensen evaluated the future of vehicle manufacturing and traffic-related incidents. Of course, every year more vehicles are manufactured, which in theory means the number of miles driven in vehicles increases. He points out how the World Health Organization (WHO) found that automobile crashes was the ninth
Getting drunk and driving can lead to death, some make it through. That's what happened to me with my parents, they got drunk and decided to go somewhere with a child in the back seat.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) defines aggressive driving as "the operation of a motor vehicle in a manner that endangers or is likely to endanger persons or property"a traffic and not a criminal offense like road rage. Examples include speeding or driving too fast for conditions, improper lane changing, tailgating and improper passing. Approximately 6,800,000 crashes occur in the United States each year; a substantial number are estimated to be caused by aggressive driving. 1997 statistics compiled by NHTSA and the American Automobile Association show that almost 13,000 people have been injured or killed since 1990 in crashes caused by aggressive driving. According to a NHTSA survey, more than 60 percent of
Teens need to be taught that driving is a task that is complex and demanding. Parents know how much experience a young driver has, and they know exactly how inconvenient it is when they have to drive with their teen everywhere while they have their permit. Teens tend to cause most traffic accidents in adults’ eyes. They are not experienced yet, and often fail to pay attention to others on the road. They often think of a car as being some type of toy, but they do not know how powerful it really is. The driver education programs must be strengthened in order to make sure that students really have safer habits, behind the wheel experience, and by having a better understanding of all the laws on the road.
It’s a dark rainy night. You and your family are coming home from a late night family party. As a car is coming through an intersection another car cut in front of it. The driver decides to hit the brakes so you can avoid the car, but as he presses the brakes, the car loses control on the slick wet road. He is not able to gain control and at that point he has endangered the lives of himself and many others on the road. This is just one example of the many types of things that occur in our streets everyday. All that would have been needed to avoid this situation would have been a traction control system in his car, which would have detected that the car was skidding and would have applied the brakes to
One of the greatest things that teenagers look forward to is getting their driver¡¦s licence and getting the freedom to do whatever they want. Ever since graduated licensing began five years ago, on April 1,1994, many people have made good and bad comments about it.
Life is unpredictable and an accident can happen anytime. on our way back home from church my dad was driving a black 2012 Toyota Highlander, which is a family car that seven people can ride in it. My younger brother, Taw Nay Gay, and I were sitting on the seat behind the driver seat by the door. My other two younger brothers, Gay Nay Soe and Soe K Maw, sat in the seat behind me, and my mom sat in the front passenger seat. For the first time a nineteen year old girl like me started to believe that I had a reason to live and my life could be taken away anytime. This happened on October first 2017, 7:30 pm when we got into a car accident by the traffic lights intersection. Three cars were damaged, but everyone in the cars were fine.
Traveling from the Desert to Snow“Ham and egg, time to go!” says my dad. This is my wakeup call at three-fifteen in themorning. The yellow moving truck is already loaded in the driveway. I roll off the air mattress in my soon to be old room, stumble into the bathroom to partake in my morning relief. When I exit the bathroom to see my brother, eyes barely open. “Good morning” I say. He groans, as usual. I get dressed, comfortably, being prepared for a fourteen hour drive. Everybody is all set to makethe journey up north as a family. My parents, my twin brother and our two dogs. This trip is notexciting beyond all means because I have to leave my freshman year of high school mid-year tolive in a place I barely remember. Little did I know I
