The Industrial Revolution was of great importance to the economic development of the United States. The new era of mass production kindled in the United States because of technological innovations, a patent system, new forms of factory corporations, a huge supply of natural resources, and foreign investment. The growth of large-scale industry in America had countless positive results, but also negative results as well. Industrialization after the Civil War affected the United States in several ways including poverty, poor labor laws, and the condition of the people.

The Industrial Revolution began in England in the late 1700’s. The Industrial Revolution was a time of new inventions, products, and methods of work. The results of the Industrial Revolution led to many short and long-term positive and negative effects. These results have been assessed from many viewpoints such as the factory workers, the factory owners, the government, and other people who observed the conditions in industrial cities.

All in all the industrial revolution had a positive effect on society, accomplishing things many do not realize and creating a turn of events that would put the USA as the world power. New farming methods meant better diets, which lead to lower death rates. Efficient and useful inventions, as well as machinery, made it easier for people to work, and made more job opportunities, as well as enjoyment in the workplace. More and easier ways of travel became commonplace, such as railroads. In addition, as cities began to grow, streetlights provided safety at night, and our economy grew greatly. During the 18th century, the Industrial Revolution changed how goods are produced and also changed the lives of the working class. Britain and France began to modernize and factories and towns began to become more urban. The industrial revolution had both positive and negative effects on our history. The Industrial Revolution had many positive impacts on Britain and France during its time.

In the Industrial Revolution there was negative impacts and positive impacts in the 1800’s. For example, like our positive impacts were that production increased, cheaper goods, plus new products and many new inventions like iron for railroads and etc. The negative impacts were over population, lots of disease and people made invention of dynamite and etc.

The Industrial Revolution, as described by Stephen Gardiner, was “another of those extraordinary jumps forward in the story of civilization.” During this time period, some might argue that Industrialization had primarily negative consequences for society. Industrialization involved the use of child labor, negatively affected the environment, and had harsh working conditions in factories. However, I will counter that it actually had a greater positive effect for society. As a result of Industrialization, the United States rose to become the world’s largest economic power and people were able to enjoy new amenities that weren’t previously available.

The industrial revolution had a significant impacted in the way people live from then to now. Today, everyone lives in a consumer society and a person’s lifespan significantly increased which all started with the industrial revolution. Historically, there is an argument stating whether or not industrialization had an overall greater positive or negative effect on society. While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily negative consequences for society because of the poor working conditions, it brought a positive thing for society. Industrialization’s positive effects were the amount of jobs it brought for workers, better transportation, and higher standard living.

For example, the cotton gin was introduced, a machine where cotton was separated from the seed, for we could make cotton products faster. Trains and steamboats were introduced too, making it easier to transport people and goods around America. It started in the late 1700’s in England. Machines that wove cotton into cloth, to make easier and products cheaper.

The Industrial Revolution not only changed business and economics, but urban lifestyle. The changes occurring were mostly negative, however, and constructed a need for reform. These were times where the product and consumer demand drove business, not socialist working reforms This is all best seen in Manchester where worker’s living conditions deteriorated to improve the business until they were initially met with meager reform, all while the city kept expanding to accomodate. England's previous success from the Agricultural Revolution gave leeway to the Industrial Revolution of the seventeenth and eighteenth hundreds. Previous landowners and investors of the Agricultural Revolution were able to start or participate Corporations and Businesses to seek great profit. New machinery and technological innovations were frequent due to the demand for faster, more efficient technology. Working class families, who were arguably the sole reason for the grand success of the Industrial Revolution, moved from their farms into crowded and dirty urban towns to work long hours in harsh factories for little pay in hopes of one day living a decent life, while the middle class gained many luxuries and lived lavish lifestyles

The Industrial Revolution that took place throughout the 18th and the 19th centuries had major effects which influenced every aspect of society and life such as, urbanization, imperialism and nationalism. The industrial revolution had an unfathomable effect on shaping the modern world to what it is today. Before the revolution, society revolved around farming and agriculture. There were only two social classes, the nobility and the working class. Little did they know, that their lives were about to change dramatically and continue changing for the next generations to come.

The Industrial Revolution brought about an overwhelming amount of economic change to the United States. The first Industrial Revolution started in Great Britain and in Europe in the latter part of the eighteenth century and, it then spread to the United States and Germany. The Industrial Revolution itself refers to a change from hand and home production to machine and factory (Kelly). During this time period, America was growing in knowledge. The industrialization of America involved three great developments. Transportation was expanded, electricity was effectively harnessed and many improvements were made to several industrial processes (Kelly). Although this change greatly helped the United States economy, it had both a positive and negative impact on the lives of the American people.

The Industrial Revolution could possibly be the most important event in the history of our world. Before it, people worked mostly on farms or sold things through the market that were hand crafted. This revolution brought about great change in the ways that we produce goods and the economies of the world.
