NJHS Essay
It is truly an honor to be recognized by National Junior Honor Society. I realize it will take so much more than fantastic grades to be a part of NJHS. It will require tremendous commitment, determination, and a significant amount of time. I honestly believe that an NJHS member should always feel the need to always help others. The volunteer spirit should not only be shown in the community, but at home, church, and in school.
The five pillars of scholarship are: service, leadership, scholarship, character, and citizenship. Service is an action of helping or doing work for another person. I have been volunteering at the Moravian church in Nazareth. Myself and the other volunteers prepare sandwiches and other snacks. We work to serve the lunches to the underprivileged families. I’ve also volunteered at the Nazareth Area Food Bank. When the food bank receives food, the volunteers

Last year I made it on High Honor Roll all three trimesters. Academic achievement comes easy for some. For others, like me, it requires hard work, effort, and a tremendous amount of time studying.
Character is defined as one’s moral qualities. I have very high expectations for my character, and I hold myself to them. Every time a person isn't the nicest to me or someone else, I remind myself not to stoop to their level. I tell myself, “Treat others how you would want to be treated.” I will always treat myself and everyone around me with respect, courtesy, and kindness.
I am a great citizen in many ways. I am active in my community and I offer my assistance when needed. I am an honest and trustworthy citizen. I follow all of the rule and laws, and take responsibility for my actions. All in all, NJHS will be a great opportunity and if I am accepted I will do my best to serve my community, lead my classmates, strive for the highest possible academic achievement, and model what it truly means to be a Nazareth Blue
The first quality shown, is scholarship, I have projected that throughout my whole middle school career. I started the high scholarship acknowledgement, when I attended Fredericksburg Academy. In that time in point, I showed citizenship because I was a student ambassador at Fredericksburg Academy, and often gave my time back to the community and new people who had to be shown around the campus. That also goes to show
Those who know me, whether it’s a student or teacher, can vouch and say I put effort into every assignment I receive. There have been many moments where I’ve studied for hours and have had sleepless nights, but it’s always been worth it considering how my grades turn out. That’s basically what occurred when I started taking AP and honors classes, but it’s something I do not regret. In the end, the scholarship pillar is important simply because education is essential to everyone’s lives. This ties in with character, which is who a person is, how they act, and the type of decisions they make. I show nothing but respect for others who treat me with respect, especially my teachers and peers. I’m grateful that I’ve developed my own sense of morality ever since the day that I came in as a ninth grader. I can say I am proud of the person I’ve become and also proud of my academic achievements. I have received Bengal Pride two years in a row and I am anticipating that this will be my third. Thankfully, I have not been responsible for any disciplinary violation whether it was related to academics or behavior and hopefully I will not anytime

Character is defined as what distinguishes one person from another and it is the product of constant striving to make the right choices every day. I identify with this pillar the most because I try really hard to be different from people in my school and neighborhood. For instance, many of my peers choose to do unproductive things, such as playing video games or watching hours of TV for hours on end, rather than doing their homework assignments. This is just a waste of time because we, as students, have a limited amount of time to complete each assignment before going to sleep and returning to school to hand it the assignment. I cannot see myself doing these things, even during my
Since freshman year, the Junior Reserves Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program has been an invisible hand of guidance that strived to bring out the best in me. This longstanding program has an impact on me in ways so innovative, it is impossible to find another program filled with diverse exhibitions of life lessons, discipline, and teamwork. JROTC has given me a lifelong readiness to combat the harsh realities of the real world that exist, which in return has helped me better myself and my community in contributions to being a citizen in the United States of America.

School is an extremely important part of anyone’s life, and I have the opportunity to attend New Prague High School. Here I have been able to strive academically. Over the years I have tried my best to get good grades, on both my tests and report cards. I have taken my education very seriously. I do this by getting all my work done on time and having good grades and maintaining my GPA. Over the years of attending high school and trying to improve my education, I have received a few academic awards. One award that I have received was student of the month for math.
Each trimester I always strive to get all A’s on my final report cards and keep my GPA above a 3.5. To help me maintain good grades when I’m having a difficult time learning something. I attend after school programs to help me understand that concept and raise my grades back to my standards. Even being busy with home life and sports I always make sure I get my homework completed and if needed test remakes in on time. Another way I exemplify scholarship is by helping my classmates. I help them when they are having a hard time understanding a concept in something I understand. This helps me make sure I have learned the material and also helps another student know the material and potentially raise their grades. These are a couple examples that show how I have illustrated scholarship during my high school

Character is the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual, though morality is subjective, in today’s society it is predominantly agreed upon that someone who is of good character has certain qualities that contribute to their decision making, trustworthiness, and intelligence. I previously mentioned prudence, which is the ability to govern oneself by the use of reason to make good judgements that allow you to avoid troublesome situations, which allows one to face the adversities of life while only encountering necessary risks. This is the ultimate show of genuine character, those who can judge for themselves and aren’t afraid to admit their faults, or
