Throughout my life I have volunteered for a few organizations. During my underclassmen years I volunteered at Seven Bridges Ranch throughout my summers. My responsibilities included taking care of all their horses, which meant, feeding, watering, grooming, exercising, etc. I was also kept up with some of the simple yard keep. Another great organization I volunteer for is called, 15 Forever Community Foundation. This is a foundation that gives 15,000 dollars to non-profit organizations. I have been doing this for three years, and the board members and I discuss what we want our funding focus is for the year, and then read each application, and decide who is best fit to receive the money. I have always loved being outdoors, and one of the non-profits

Since the summer of eighth grade I have volunteered at Essentia Health Hospital making tie blankets for inpatients. These patients are able to take the blankets home with them when they are well enough to leave the hospital. Moreover, I volunteer at my local church for a once-a-month food share. I help unload the food from the truck, sort out the rotten produce, and distribute the food among the shareholders. Additionally, I clean up highways and trails as a part of Green Club ,and I partake in numerous other volunteer opportunities within my school
A semi-detailed business overview of the non-profit organization known as the YMCA or Young Men’s Christian Association is discussed. A brief history of the origins of the company is detailed along with the definition or explanation of the company’s mission statement. The organization’s basic legal, social, and economic environment is described. Likewise the YMCA’s management structure, operational issues, as well as financial issues are discussed. Lastly, the possible impact that potential change factors, which includes the role of technology, can present to the YMCA business organization are discussed.
The fourth nonprofit I analyzed is called GreaterGood which is an online website that sells a wide range of products that have been made across the world and uses the profit generated by sales to donate to a variety of different nonprofits that have a specific mission (Help, 2015, p.1). The specific nonprofits that GreaterGood donates to breast cancer, animal rescue, veterans, autism, diabetes, the rainforest, and the one that is specific to my area of analysis the hunger site. This style of nonprofit expressed by the GreaterGood charity is extremely unique because of the extreme differences in charities they are partners with. With the multiple charities they work with I would be confident in arguing that the GreaterGood-hunger site is a path-goal leadership style.
The Public Theater has been a staple of the New York City theater community for over 50 years now. Part of The Public’s core values include providing great content for the community and making sure that content is accessible to as wide an audience as possible. This mission is highly appealing to potential donors and foundation committee’s as it provides a very transparent place for donations to land and be used to directly improve the community. Through a clear mission, a great legacy and a proven track record of community centered engagement, The Public Theater’s clearly has a great capacity to fundraise.
As an assignment for a public radio station I volunteered at, my partner and I were assigned to get sound bites. The Ralph’s in Downtown L.A. was featuring Homegirl Industries mango salsa in their deli section (Hirsch, 2009). At the event, most of the news outlets there focused on getting quotes from mayor Villaraigosa. This made it easier for my partner and I to get quotes from young adults that were part of Homeboy Industries. Through this assignment, I learned about the non-profit group and its goal to transform the lives of former gang members. This paper focuses on the non-profit organization Homeboy Industries and its contributions to the cultural region. The beginning focuses on the brief history of gang activity in Los Angeles, and
The mission of Central Florida Coalition for the homeless in Orlando is to provide a home for the homeless and give them a chance to develop themselves in all aspects. The purpose of the organization is to offer a home for the homeless and take care of single mothers, children, the disabled as well as give quality education to those in need. The organization strives to provide shelter, clothing and financial aid through jobs to the needy people in the society.
As I note in BIO posted on the class wall, I come from the corporate security world. When I left, I found myself working for a non-profit organization as an advocate for adults of all ages with all types of developmental disabilities. My team and I work with our amazing clients on a daily basis to make sure that they are able to enjoy and live the fullest lives possible in the mainstream community they reside in. We provide, advocacy, education, housing, employment, medical assistance, transportation and pretty much any other basic life tool or skills training needed to be a productive member in their communities. While, folks in the mainstream community are more accepting of my clients with developmental disabilities, they sometimes not as
As an intern for a non- for profit I worked closely with community volunteers within the agency. The approach to network with the local community members and university to better provide assistance to families in need, worked best for this small community. As a university student of the Social Work program I brought ethical principles, classroom training and work history to the agency. In my position as a counselor, I interview clients utilizing an intake form to gather information about one’s household size, income, and services they required. I had developed a strategy to devote time to the client as well as collect their food and clothing items. An army veteran and long- term volunteer and I worked together to serve clients. I became
My heart lies in the non-profit world. Long-term I want to work for a non-profit that helps people, and I want to work in a capacity that allows me to share my knowledge with others and allows me to collaborate with my coworkers to continuously improve our organization. An excellent way I can help people is with my knowledge about data, my flexibility with changing policies and procedures, my organizational skills, my desire to continuously learn, and my affinity to share my knowledge with others. Short-term I have experience and expertise in State Reporting and State Testing, and they are two of my favorite areas of work. A lot of people have negative feelings about State testing, but I think it is useful in collecting school accountability
As the librarian for my city during a time when the city is struggling and not connecting, I would need to make some changes to the program. I would begin by looking at the neighborhood including the demographics. As the librarian, I would not be able to dedicate myself fully to organizing or implanting changes within the library so, I would need to consider hiring volunteers that can assist with collaborating with other city agencies and local non-profit organizations.

Volunteering is about giving your time for a great cause. You don't have to get paid, but you do get a chance to display your talents, develop and learn new skills, and experience the pleasure that comes from making a real difference to other people's lives, as well as your own. People can contribute in a community in different ways. One effective way to help a community is to volunteer. Volunteering can be beneficial for you, your family, as well as the community you live in. Volunteering can benefit you tremendously whether it helps you develop skills or even learn about career options. Making friends and garnering new professional contacts can also be tempting for people who are interested. I have chosen the American Red Cross as my volunteering
There used to be a time when zoos used to be full of animals. A time when extinction was not a problem. That was the past. Today, zoos all around the world are missing many animals such as the African elephant or the dodo bird. All of these wonderful animals became extinct because we were careless enough to let them all die. World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is an organization that is trying to prevent extinction from happening. WWF is an environmental organization dedicated to “protecting the world’s wildlife and wetlands” ("World Wildlife Fund"). It is one of the largest private supported conservation organizations in the world, with support from one million members in just the United States. WWF was formed on September 11, 1961 in Morges,
World Vision, founded in the USA in 1950 by a young pastor Robert Pierce, is one of the largest relief and development organizations in the world whose total revenue coming grants, product and foreign donations is about $2.6 billion.
