3.2.1 Storage When it comes to storage for these instances both services give you have a few options, you can choose a regular SSD, an optimized SSD or even a HDD. The option you choose will be reflected on the speed of the drive. When it comes to pricing, Amazon gives you a better deal on the SSD and Google gives you a better price on the HDD as shown in Figure 8. Even though the price difference seems minimal, the cost can add up once you start adding large amounts of storage. For example, it you decided to add a 16,384 GB SSD volume for EC2, the price would be $1,638.40 every month. The same amount of memory of SSD with Google Compute Engine would cost $27,85.28 every month. That is $1,146 in difference. This is an area where you have to …show more content…
Many businesses are starting to give “The Cloud” a chance. They are starting to see all the advantages that it could give their company. Especially for startups, since they can deploy servers in the cloud at first so that they won’t have to invest in physical servers. This project has really opened my eyes on all the services that the cloud could provide. Such as how the products can be broken down into three categories: Software as a Service(SaaS), Platform as a Service(PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service(IaaS) What surprised me the most was how IaaS could provide powerful machines and basically have to power to remove physical on site servers. I was able to have a Windows Server 2012 running during the whole time that I was working on this project. I explored some of the services like Domain Controller, Active Directory, and DNS briefly. I used tutorials from Lynda to guide me through the basics of Windows Server which was new to me. I also crashed my server once when I was trying to connect it to another server I had created and ultimately had to start from scratch since I couldn’t reach the server anymore. I learned my lesson that a snapshot can be useful just in case something bad happens. I was also able to use my Windows server for many labs that I had to do for another class that had to do with encrypting files and assigning folder permissions to certain users. I liked using the server hosted on the cloud …show more content…
Stating the positive and negative characteristics of using cloud services. I also plan on providing examples of real world uses of these services. As well as showing how they are beneficial to people that don’t always need to have these resources and to people that don’t have enough money for the necessary hardware and time to configure them.
Motivation: After reading many articles about Cloud Computing I saw the bright future for these types of cloud services. Aside from educating myself on this topic I feel that this could be beneficial to my fellow Computer Technology peers to address their client or employers cloud needs as well as people who are going to start a business and are looking at the options available to address their companies demands.
Cloud computing was a completely new term a short 9 years ago, in 2007. The basis of this technology is to move the workload of IT activities away from an organization, and to one or more third parties that have resources dedicated to processing such things. These can be, but are not limited to, networking, storage, software systems, and applications. Rather than having to create and maintain their own expensive datacenters, companies can pay a fee to use someone else’s. This makes growing businesses extremely flexible, as they can easily gain or remove storage space per their needs. Being able to purchase the use of online storage space is known as “hardware as a service,” or, more simply, “virtualization.” Being able to purchase the use of online software is known as “software as a service.” Both are very powerful tools that allow the minimization of a company’s IT budget.
Cloud computing offers many advantages to both end users and businesses of all sizes. The advantages of cloud
The focus of cloud computing is providing with scalable and a cheap on-demand computing infrastructure with a good quality of service levels. The process of the cloud computing involves a set of network enabled services that can be accessed in a simple and general way. Cloud computing provides with a unique value proposition for any organization to outsource their information and communication technology infrastructure. Moreover, the concept itself provides with a value proposition for an organization as using the cloud saves on cost, resources, and staff, and business opportunities for the organization (Katzan). An extensive connectivity of
This research paper tackles the issues that faces Cloud Computing today and gives the experts and industry’s point of view on the matter. The aspects explored are the significant industry questions that have risen about the use of Cloud Computing, business value, organization impact, adaptability, limitations, initial cost of implementation, and the severe business security risks
Cloud computing reduces costs which helps provide businesses save on yearly expenses. A benefit of Cloud Computing is the Scalability factor, companies can start with one server reduce services to the bare minimum needed by the business. Then as the demand rises, they can then increase their cloud utilization to meet their new needs. “In addition, cloud computing is scalable. Traditional servers require expensive upgrades that cost a lot upfront. If your business doesn’t expand as much as you had hoped, that’s money you’ve wasted. Cloud service providers usually let you scale up and down seamlessly.” (Ismail, N, 2017)
Some of the immediate advantages of cloud computing involve lower equipment costs, scalability and online collaboration. A company can take advantage of cloud services without major upgrades to their existing equipment and infrastructure. Using a web browser, most company employees can access “Software as a Service” or SaaS. This service runs on a cloud provider’s server with no installed on the local server within the organization.
The national institute of standards and technology (NIST) defines cloud computing as “a model that is meant to enable convenient access to a network that is on demand to a pool of shared computing resources that are configurable” (Jansen & Timothy, 2015). Computer system resources includes, but not limited to, storage, system servers, applications, services, and networks. Cloud computing allows these computing resources to be accessed virtually anytime, anywhere. Cloud computing opens up new possibilities in the field of information technology that many of us have or will experience. As the clients or the customers are very excited about the numerous opportunities that come along with the cloud computing technology such as a reduction in the costs of capital, and the opportunity of divesting themselves of management of infrastructure, and a massive focus on the core competencies, and most importantly, the agility that is usually offered by the provision of computing that is on-demand, there are challenges and other numerous issues that need to be looked into and addressed before a universal adoption might happen (Jansen & Timothy, 2015).
The purpose of this report is to provide decision makers with introductory information on cloud computing technologies that will facilitate their understanding of the primary concepts associated with the cloud computing paradigm and contribute to making informed decisions with regard to issues related to cloud adoption.
Purpose: The purpose of this speech is to persuade my audience that they should consider moving to cloud computing services because the cost of operating servers in the cloud offers significant savings and the ability to quickly scale is far better than traditional rack servers. I want my audience to review their datacenter infrastructure and consider the use of cloud-based servers and services over their traditional systems. My central idea is that the use of rack servers is becoming obsolete and cloud computing services is a much better solution.
The top Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) in our market are various. Most of them have their special advantages for surviving in fierce business competitions. Some may have advantages on mobile app, some may have advantages on languages, customer help and support services or prices, or others may pay more attention on security protection and their reputation improvements. In this assignment, I picked up four top CSPs with comparisons of their functionality, cost, security, mobile access and customer support services. The four CSPs are Apple iCloud, Google, OpenDrive, and Amazon.
Despite these outages, enthusiasm for clouds is very prevalent and Amazon is not the only iron in this fire. Here is a list of just a few of the top 25 cloud companies
Cloud computing is basically the use of large groups of resources linked together through networking to produce a lot of performances. One of the main purpose of this technology is the scalability that it offers. Indeed, when you need more speed or performances, the only thing to do is to add more servers to the cloud. It has a lot of advantages, but the most valuable one for a company is that they pay for what they use, and don’t have to buy some powerful servers “just in case” they will need more resource. This technology is a huge money-saver.
Cloud computing has grown in popularity to the point that it is now becoming the preferred method of the business community for accessing services on the Internet. This paper examines the reasons for this growth and explores the benefits and drawbacks of this technology.
There is a sign that hangs outside the Information Technology Director’s office at work that reads….Cloud Computing - is just using someone else’s server. I now understand what that sign means. Most people do not know exactly what cloud computing means, honestly until now I really didn’t understand the entire concept. There is no imaginary cloud hanging in the sky that holds all our information. Cloud computing has its place in a business; there are various factors that must be evaluated when considering the use of this method data storage. A business should determine the condition of their existing computer system and software. They should examine their short and long term business goals and then weigh the advantages and
Cloud computing is an altering technology which is enjoying increasing rates of adoption. Cloud computing is a model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources including networks, servers, storage, applications, and services that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. The use of Cloud services is proven effective across diverse set of industries, reducing costs associated with computing while increasing flexibility and scalability for computer processes. For instance, Cloud computing services, like Amazon’s, can be used by all business types and more ideal for smaller businesses or especially ideal for businesses just starting. This report is a recommendation for moving all our company’s data center functions on to the cloud. This report outlines supporting details determining how our company could reap the most benefits by adopting cloud services from any of the high-quality cloud service providers available in the market today such as Amazon, Microsoft, Rackspace, and Verizon Terremark cloud services. The benefits of adoption cloud computing services are substantial including reduced infrastructure costs, increased scalability, availability, capacity, speed, backup and mobility. However, these benefits are not free from possible pitfalls. So, to maximize the benefits and minimize risks associated with the move to the cloud, it is
