DSDV is a proactive, hop-by-hop distance vector routing protocol where the routing table is maintained by each and every network node. For this specific situation, I believe I would choose to coach Sam like anybody else but pay a little more attention to him and make sure he is understanding what is going on at all times. It might be a lot harder then anticipated, but I believe that coaches should make a difference, and that’s for whoever is willing to work. If Sam is willing to learn and is excited to have a chance to do something he doesn’t normally do, I would be happy to take the responsibility on. In addition to letting Sam be on the team, I would first talk to his parents and let them know the situation and possibly get some insight on how Sam learns and how he would respond to different situations. I would also add an extra team member to my staff so one of us can always be attentive to him, so he can always know what’s going on.
