OpenEdge ABL Programming Language
OpenEdge ABL, Advanced Business Language, is a high-level programming language. OpenEdge ABL is developed and maintained by Progress Software Corporation. OpenEdge ABL previously was known by other names, such as Progress or Progress 4GL. (History 1) This language was first released in the 1980s. This first commercial release for UNIX and DOS was in 1984, since then there has been several versions released. (History 1) In the 1990s Progress released their first graphical interface, PROGRESS. (History 1) Throughout each era such as GUI, web and the cloud, Progress has kept up to date with technology. In 2009 Progress released their first cloud application that they called OpenEdge. (History 1)
OpenEdge provides a programming language for building business application. (Sadd
25). Progress provides much documentation that can easily be found on their site, www.progress.com. It is suggested to use the documentation to refer to the information on the language; such as keywords and statements. (Sadd 25) There are a lot of specifics about the keywords and statements that users can look into by referring to the documentation. This language is very powerful, and it is meant for serious developers that need to solve business problems. ( Sadd 25) In John Sadd’s book, OpenEdge Development: ABL
The Code Talker is a book written by Joseph Bruchac. It is a novel about the Navajo Marines of World War Two. It especially focuses on one particular Indian code talker, Ned Begay. The book walks you through the life of Ned Begay from him being a small schoolboy to a Navajo Marine.
were largely time-constrained. Furthermore, we also used Luntz’s principle of simplicity when giving our presentation as we did not delve into the minutia of most of the issues, opting instead for presenting a broad overview and the key findings which supported our proposition. In “Ten Rules of Effective Language” Luntz justifies his brevity claim by showing the number of successful brands that employ short, but memorable taglines such as Nike, Dell and 7-up. Luntz also provides evidence for his advice on using simplicity by stating that the majority of Americans have not graduate college and that, in general, the use of larger than necessary words elicits suspicion (Luntz, 2007). In our presentation’s strategy therefore, we attempted to take
Currently, I am pursuing a career in the software development field of computer science. In this field, I will mostly be creating programs and software to be installed or run on computers or other machines. Of course like any professional career, ethical issues can appear, but the issues found in the tech industry are not always found in the office area. Many of the issues developers face are outside of the office area and out in the field. The type of issues I am addressing is computer crimes, computer failures, protection and theft of software, and the corruption of privacy and company property. Developers face the challenge of protecting their programs from being misused and making sure that the programs are safe for users. Two cases that show these types of dilemmas are the Therac-25 case and the infamous Target hack of 2013. The Therac-25 case will show what happens when a product and its software are not properly constructed, while the Target Hack case will show an example of the misuse of software that lead to millions of credit cards stolen.
At this point Process 1 has received all the collected data from all the other processes. We can see that all processes received 3 from process 1. All Processes received a different number from process 2, making it a possible Byzantine failure. From process 3, all processes received 1. From process 4, majority received 5 from process 4, except process 3, which received a 6, making process 4 a possible Byzantine failure. All processes received 8 from Process 5. So the unknown values would be from Process 2, and Process 4.
Through a mysterious tone, William Blake’s “The Tyger” reveals religion by using syntax and imagery. Throughout the story Blake uses literary elements to create the tone of the story. Blake first uses syntax to create a mysterious tone in the sentence, “Could frame thy fearful symmetry?” What Blake means by this is who made the Tiger. The author’s curiosity is shown throughout the poem.
As for independent studies, I really enjoyed the CodeAcademy portion of my SSP because that is again something that I always wanted to try but didn’t because of the restrictions on how many classes I could take during my time here at BB&N. I took six hours worth of classes online during the week and then once a week I would meet with Mr. Randall to discuss what I learned. I’ve always been intrigued about how computers and phones works, items that I would clueless use every single day. During SSP, I learned more about what goes on behind the scenes of a webpage or app. I learned the basics of HTML & CSS, Java, and jQuery. I only learned the basics of each of these languages, but I also used them to design my own webpages, built a small scale
Childhood obesity has become a growing epidemic not only in the United States but globally. The origin of obesity in children is multifaceted in nature. Many individuals emphasize genetics as the number one risk factor, however, other factors include dietary patterns, physical inactivity, secondary activities, parent-child relationship, and social and environmental issues. Parents and schools have a reflective influence on children by promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors and promoting certain values and attitudes, by rewarding or emphasizing specific behaviors and by serving as role models.
I am doing the CLEAR program and this program was very beneficial to me because it allowed me to see the world in a different aspect especially helping individuals with mental disabilities. CLEAR provides a full range of classes each semester based on student input. The social integration of the CLEAR students and other JCCC students will continue to provide a valuable learning experience for everyone. A variety of classes are taught each semester ranging from basic skills, physical conditioning and arts and crafts to enrichment and practical living skills. The offerings vary from one semester to the next. Interacting with these individuals made me open my eyes that I can be very impactful to a group of individuals. Throughout my volunteering
According to Openlearn.edu, “Children grow up in specific physical, social, cultural, economic and historical circumstances (their socio-cultural context), all of which will influence their childhood” (2016) A child’s environment plays a very large role in their development process. What Gabby is being exposed to at home or maybe with a certain family member can influence a lot of her behavior. If Gabby is very aggressive the first context I would observe is her relationship with her caregiver. “Development of course involves a process of learning and improvement, and children can only learn when others are there to support them, like parents, teachers and siblings”(Openlearn.edu, 2016). I would observe the relationship and reactions that
Beating the Blues is a self-help computer program designed as an educational program based on basic principles of CBT and integrated multimedia software designed for computer novices (Kalata, 2010). The program consists of eight weekly sessions which included behavioral components focusing on pleasant activity schedule, problem-solving, sleep hygiene, graded exposure, breaking down tasks, as well as cognitive components consisting of identifying and modifying negative automatic thoughts, and maladaptive core beliefs. Each session begins with a 15-minute introduction or videotape followed by eight therapy sessions. Each one is about 50 minutes in length with homework between the sessions (Proudfoot et al., 2004). This program is recommended
As Dr. Joyce Nutta demonstrated slicing fruit and squeezing the juice out and pouring it into a cup and drinking it, she repeated everything she said twice. Dr. Nutta spoke slow and clear. She also used common hand gestures to help interpret her words. As Dr. Nutta took each step she spoke through them which helped me to imply what she was explaining in Spanish is what she was doing. Dr. Nutta was teaching the class how to say these sentences in Spanish. She displayed several visual techniques to the class to demonstrate the meaning of each sentence. This helps students learning the language understand and comprehend the words. As she repeated the words, the class was able to work on their pronunciation and speak them with her. She was able
I have joined a program that has helped me change my community into a better environment. I joined a program, Casa Che, during my junior year. This program seemed very interesting to me due to the fact that makes youth make changes in their own community. In Casa Che, we get to meet students from other schools who also want to change their environment into a better place. We meet once a week and talk about whatever comes to our mind. We respect each other and respect the environment we all share. In this program, we talk about violence and how we can work together to make our community a better place. We make events that makes each one of us come together and work with other adults and
The COBOL programming language is typically used in large scale databases in banks and insurance companies. Today, COBOL is rarely used to write new software applications. It has been replaced by the C/C++ programming language, but up until the 80’s all business software was written using COBOL. This includes but not exclusively accounting, payroll, and large bank applications. COBOL is still used today due to the high cost in upgrading software, and recent studies show that as many as twelve million COBOL applications are still used today. Also, a good majority of these are proprietary and would be extremely hard to redo in a more current language. So it is obvious that COBOL programs are everywhere, and more importantly our
The National Law Enforcement System used several old programming languages to manage and write information that is stored in the database. A new programming language was introduced and the Law Enforcement System later on
-The C programming dialect was contrived in the early 1970s as a framework execution dialect for the beginning Unix working framework. Inferred from the typeless dialect BCPL, it advanced a sort structure; made on a minor machine as an apparatus to enhance a pitiful the earth, it has turned into one of the overwhelming dialects of today. This paper studies its advancement
