Title: Willpower
Paragraph One: The Video for week 2 assignment is all about willpower and how it works. Having inner experiences and impulses and still directing the energy and attention to the things that matter the most to you. You have to know what you really want and not let the universe impose on you! You need to take action to have the ability to say yes to yourself. Willpower is like having three (3) powers, I (will), I (wont) and I (want). I use I (will) and I (want) powers the most and resist most of the temptations. I have self-compassion; I take small steps for small actions and get a bigger change. Sometimes we have to force ourselves to

Paragraph Four The one area in my life right now that I use a lot of willpower is my lifestyle. I recently had gotten of track with my weight and eating habits. I’m trying to get back on track but it has been a challenge. I have to have the power to not eat the snacks and try to eat healthier snacks. I give the attention to the things that matter the most to me. Paragraph Five: Yes! Education is very important to me because of the way I grew up. My mother wasn’t very educated about children sometimes I think she thought that children should come with a how-to book, which is why my brother and I were put into foster care. I told myself that when I grew up I was going to go to college. I enrolled here at Ashford University on December, 21, 2014 and I’m estimated to graduate on December 3, 2018. My three (3) educational goals that align with education as a core value are Goal A, Do the best to my ability and apply myself to do the work and receive a passing grade. Get a “B” or better. Goal B, Never give up! No matter what anyone says? My final goal C is to finish out with my bachelor’s degree in childcare. With me willpower has a play in all that I do. I have so many people that do not believe in me. They say that because I have a learning disability that I won’t be able to do the work in college. I use my willpower to show them they are wrong. My willpower is
Some of the current changes that can be seen in regards to prescription privileges include changes in the ways that physicians and mental health professionals are able to prescribe medications to their patients. According to Brenda Smith of the APA (2012), currently patients receive their medications for psychological conditions by a physician usually without having been evaluated by a mental health practitioner according to the CDC. The trend includes individuals to visit their general health practitioners in order to receive psychotropic medications such as antidepressants and anxiolytics. The problem with individuals receiving these medications from other sources include: deterrence

What is the probability of rolling a four in the gambling dice game of craps (given two six sided dice)? 3/36 or 8.33%. What is the probability that a player can roll a four 3 times in a row (assume that rolling the dice each time does not affect the outcome of the next roll)? 3/36 x 3/36 x 3/36 = 27/46656 = 3/5184
Kelly McGonigal defines willpower as choosing what matters and willing to agree with your values and goals even when some part of you doesn’t want to. Additionally, willpower is defined as the ability both to remember what matters most and the willingness to do things that support those goals even when self-doubt is present. She adds that there are three forms of willpower, I will, the willingness to continue when tired or bored, I won’t, the ability to resist and I want, the sense of what your morals are. Research reveals that we have limited willpower; it is possible to run out of willpower if you use it up. Kelly McGonigal is skeptical of this research, she believes what is limited is the ability to force ourselves to do things we don’t
In the next few pages I will discuss my willpower challenge. I read The Willpower Instinct by Kelly McGonigal (2012) that guided my writing. I shall begin with my will, my wont, and my want power. According to chapter 1, page 14, we have a prefrontal cortex that has three key regions that divide up the jobs of “I will”, “I won’t”, and “I want”. The “I will” area I found out helped me begin and stick with a difficult, boring, or stressful task. The “I won’t” area is noted help me hold back from my impulses and cravings. The “I want” region kept me on track of reaching my goals and desires. For my willpower challenge “I want” to be healthier, “I will” try to exercise more, and “I won’t” be eating to many sweet foods, and did try to stay away from food with saturated fats. I knew that would be a difficult challenge. I know I had many problems to address.
Kelly McGonigal states there are three things to keep in your mind as your trying to work on your willpower. The I will stage the willingness to go the extra mile in order to achieve what you want. Such as walking an extra five minutes on the treadmill instead of quitting just because your legs are burning. The I want specifying and knowing the goals you want to achieve for instance to lose ten pounds in two weeks so you can fit back into a pair of your favorite jeans. The final step is I wont by knowing that even though you are going to want things that are good for you such as an extra snack knowing that your goal is to lose five pounds and having the willpower to say I wont touch that will help you succeed in reaching your goal.
What is Willpower, First we have to understand what the Will really is. As defined by dictionary.com havin will is having control deliberately exerted to do something or to restrain one's own impulses. So that means that no matter what an individual has complete and utter control over how they react and how they do anything. So

The power is within you. Call out to greatness, and make it run to you; train it to sit and follow your commands. Experience is the best teacher, with each failure or success wisdom can be gained from having gone through the process. Look at your life at this very moment. Are you pleased with what you see? If not, change it because it is just that simple. Go out there and start consciously manifesting the life you want. You do not need to show people your plan. Show them your Results!
I recognize that what determines whether we succeed or fail, accomplish our goals for fall short, is the driving force within us. Nobody goes through their life without facing difficult challenges. No matter what the reason is we need to overcome a challenge, confidence in the ability to do what it takes to succeed is essential. The mind is an incredibly powerful tool we all possess, the force within it that some call ambition, and others call initiative, I call determination. Belief in myself and an undying desire to accomplish my personal goals, drives me towards success in everything I
As long as your mind is made up, willpower will get you through — along
This may come as difficult and at times you will want to give up, but you don’t, you push through in order to make it. An example of this would be if someone has a goal to lose weight. They will need change their nutrition and begin an exercise regimen. There will be days that it will be difficult to resist the urge to consume that sugary snack that is where willpower comes in. Willpower will keep you from indulging in that snack. Also, feeling like avoiding that exercise routine but pushing through to complete it is an example of using willpower. Although it is easier to just give up or avoid something, willpower is what will get you through and complete these
“willpower.” This is a phrase we use whenever we try to break negative routines. In
In our English class we have started to read a book named The Willpower Instinct. This book was written by Kelly McGonigal a Professor of Psychology at Stanford University. In this book she has gathered information on willpower and how we can strengthen our willpower by challenging it. The challenge that I choose was that I will limit my time watching TV by only allowing myself to watch two hours of TV each day. By reading this book it has helped me understand where I'm at with my self control and has also shown how to strengthen my willpower in certain aspects. For example, with my challenge it has showed me that I am capable of restraining myself and has also shown how I can be more productive by cutting something out of my life.
Willpower is something that everyone has, it is just that majority of people do not know how to use it efficiently. It is explained from the beginning of the willpower instinct that people often set goals then lose control of themselves. Having experienced failure in obtaining my goals in the past, now that we are tackling willpower challenges I have been more productive toward my goals. One of the reasons that we tell ourselves that we can’t achieve our goals, is because of the many changes that we must make in ourselves and it seems impossible. I can build on this because I have told myself that this will never work but I have had more success now than I have before. When you
