PERPETUATION AND MAINTENANCE OF READING THINKS AND OTHER ARTICLES IN LIBRARY: AN OVERVIEW
Abstract: In this digital library environment, the traditional library system and services are being replaced by new techniques such as library automation, collection development of e-resources and networking of libraries. There has been tremendous change in the information world. Everyone has to adopt these changes such as printed to digital form. A perpetuation is a set of procedures, activities and preserves all the documents long term, preserving their content. This paper provides an overview of the major perpetuation activities, definition, concept, process and types of media for perpetuation. This paper also presents the perpetuation standards of library materials.
Keywords: Perpetuation, Maintenance, Digital format, perpetuation standards.
Introduction:
The library houses the document by considering the long-term perpetuation of the items while still allowing the end user to access the material easily. But all library collections experience damage from use and decay from aging. So there is a need of perpetuation and maintenance of library materials. Libraries have always been places where information resources were collected, organized and perpetuated for the use of future generations. However, application of computers has drastically changed the work culture of libraries. Now in the changing environment, the volume of information rapidly increasing and users’

Guided reading is something that I found interesting that I would incorporate in a classroom. The first step, as the book states, is the teacher picking materials for their students to read. The teacher needs to make sure that they give each student a copy of the grade appropriate material. When the students are in the beginning stage of reading the teacher introduces new concepts/ vocabulary. This will help the students when they begin reading the material. Once the teacher has gone through the new concepts/vocabulary they let the students read the material. When the students are reading the teacher show keep I eye out for any students struggling with the material or for students that might have a question. The final stage of guided reading
Just like any library, ancient special libraries, also known as archives, where created to preserve and keep records of specific materials, such as business documents that were written on clay tablets at that time or papyrus scrolls that were about personal or business matters. At first, general libraries were mainly focused on providing educational materials for the adult population; however, libraries have gone through great transformations. Now-a-days, the libraries’ purpose has widened and now they focus on providing any needed information, educational or leisure materials to people of all ages and types of their communities (Rowland, Collection). Also, now public libraries have partnerships with school libraries and academic
The team of data management will start working on bringing improvements in current library system by referring to the documents created in analysis phase. A new datasets related to patrons will be created and added to the spreadsheets such as Library Id, current job/business, address, interested areas, facebook id,
Reading Recovery is a program that was created by Marie Clay in New Zealand (Moore & Wade, 1998). She designed a program to help early readers who were having difficulty so they might progress to a reading level similar to their classmates (Lose, 2000). The program was later brought to the United States and implemented in Ohio. It has gained popularity in many other states since that time.
Reading and writing have many connections when it comes to everyday life and school. Students would do better with by both reading and writing being taught together instead of separately rather than being taught as two separate lessons. The article lists and discuss multiple ways for teachers to integrate both reading and writing into their lessons. The article The Reading and Writing connection: Merging Two Reciprocal Content Areas discuss the connection of reading and writing. It also discusses the integration of the two can help struggling readers as well.
I sat in my fourth grade classroom staring at the bookshelf when suddenly I caught a glimpse of a dark blue book with a heroic being on the front. I lifted the heavy book and began reading Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief. As soon as I started I fell into this mythical world where gods, monsters, and heroes all existed. It was a rollercoaster through my emotions. The thrill. The suspense. The surprising new book had a grasp on me, to stop reading it would be difficult. I felt attached. As soon as I started, I finished. Devastated, my chase of this feeling has never stopped, no other book has given me the same fulfillment as Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief. As a young reader I would love to find the same joy and thrill (as I did back
Reading and writing something we all do in class outside of school ETC. Some of us hate them both maybe one or the other or maybe none. We all have our advantages and disadvantages in both of them. We all have weaknesses in both of them, but then we all also have my strengths in them as well.
The physical entity of the library is the prevailing advantage that allows books to remain relevant even though the technological convergence has occurred. While individuals have greater access to information than in the past, people, for the most part, will congregate at a place where others gathered. For this reason, the look and feel of libraries will change as technology advances.
Over the years, my reading hobbies have changed drastically. At a very young age reading was a passion, but over the years, it became something that I despised.
I remember being pressured to experience another world, the world of books. I remember late nights, trying to read the last 30 pages before the next day, so I could take a test. It wasn’t always like that. I used to enjoy reading before then. The struggle came, when I started reading because of peer pressure, and reading assignments. The burden of reading for others made me consider, more, the reward of reading for myself.
In my opinion, the reason for this assignment is for the teacher to see where we are in our reading, and writing. Reading to me must happen when I am interested in something for example, a movie because I enjoy reading about the plots but everyone is different. Another example is a graphic novel, because you can understand the concept or plot a lot easier than you would do in a regular novel. In regular books, you have so many things going on and you aren’t able to understand what is happening then you end up getting the wrong idea. Writing is just about the same for example, I can’t write about something that I know nothing about or interested in. Therefore, I am writing this paper to show you my weaknesses and not my strengths because I
When implementing the intervention the first day students were able to get through reading the passage multiple times. The 4th day of the intervention students were less motivated doing the repeated reading. They began to take longer coloring their bar graph to take a break from reading the passage. John did have difficulty staying focus on completing two of the repeated reading without stopping. In several occasions he did request a break and it was granted so he did not feel overwhelmed from all the reading. Also, he sometimes did need to work with myself to help with the words he had difficulty with and for him to remain focus. The moments John did become discourage from the reading he would skip chunks of lines from the reading and only read the words he knew. When John skipped lines, he was encouraged to go back and follow the reading with his pencil. He did listen to what he was instructed to do, but he would continue to skip portions of the reading. For John the best support to give him was to sit with him to help him how to monitor himself from
I guess I don’t read enough. My mom is always telling me that I need to start making reading a regular thing for me. But the thing is, I never have enough time and now, I’m always either doing homework or doing stuff with my family. I just can’t find any time to read. I’m a really good reader but I just can’t always comprehend it. I can sometimes get really far in a book but not even remember the main topic of the book. I wish I could read more.
The National Reading Panel (NRP) and the International Reading Association (IRA) are two different associations that provide research findings on the best practices for teaching and learning literacy. Reading and understanding the findings of both associations is important for educators and parents to boost the literacy rates of our children. Below I will summarize the reading standards that our outlined by both and provide my thoughts and insights.
