There is a long history in delivering health care in the UK which can track back to The Poor Law 1834. The whole health and social care system had shifted to person centred care only since the beginning of last decade after recognising the changing of social structure in the UK and the need of placing service user in to the centre of the service. Therefore several legislations and policies were brought up either by the statutory body or independent organisation to emphasis the importance of person centred care in health and social care setting.
The White Paper ‘Our health, our care, our say’ (2006) was published by the Department of Health, sets a new direction for community service developed the concept of personalised care. The paper had shown the determination of government to support local authorities to put the green paper and white paper in to action by looking at what need to be done, the vision for development of a personalised approach to the delivery of adult social care; and setting out how the Department of Health and sector leaders propose to develop a sector led programme to support councils with social service responsibilities in delivering this modernisation agenda.
